Feb 13, 2026Sunscape Coco - Bikers, Blowers and Beaches.
On the surface this is a pretty typical Caribbean resort. It's big, 18 buildings, up to 2500 guests according to the manager we spoke with. The layout makes it easy to get around, and the grounds are well kept, but there are a few things that are concerning. First off, we're starting to think this place is owned, or run by outlaw bikers. For Superbowl, 10 full patch bikers from the local Hells Angels affiliate rode into the main dining/pool area at about 10 AM with great fanfare. Later that evening, they were incorporated into the pre game ceremonies that were being shown on a big screen TV in the plaza. This consisted of revving their engines for about 20 minutes straight while they circled the plaza with scantily clad "cheer leaders" on the back of their bikes. It was super loud and not well received, especially by those of us with small kids. Not sure what the point was. According to staff, these bikers run the onsite casino. Everyone we talked to was not happy. After this performance, we started noticing a lot of Canadian guest wearing Hell's Angel swag, and some who were clearly Hells Angels. If this doesn't bug you, then I guess don't worry. Secondly, for some obscure reason , you have to line up to get into the main buffets. They can be completely empty, but you still have to line up. Food selection is mediocre at best, and service is non existent. Please note I didn't say unfriendly - the wait staff are really nice- but it's like they've never had any service training. Room maintenance is iffy. We had a size 10 toilet with a size 6 seat LOL. Don't know how they even got it to fit. Annoying to say the least. Landscaping starts early. Gas powered weed eater and 1200 CFM back pack blower are unnecessary and not appreciated next to the breakfast buffet. Pro Tip : they have batteries now. It sounded like a moto cross event every morning. Beach was nice, lot's of pool areas. For those of you that have travelled in the Caribbean I would say the overall experience was closer to Cuba than say Playa Del Carmen. Definitely need a lean six sigma. Sadly I was not documenting with photos. My Bad. For the money and the biker (organized crime) affiliation we won't be going back. To the staff, wish you well, and hope you find a hotel that will elevate you.

Upgraded to SunClub for room location. Worth it in my opinion but any other perks were available to anyone. Was put in Building 16 at check in which is a bit of a hike that was tough on me. Ocean was beautiful. Towel game is hot and heavy here with no staff interfering. Room was okay, some set ups had a sink and tub open to the whole room with a frosted glass shower and toilet which was weird for 3 adult guests. Food here is basic in the buffet, a la carte system has recently changed to standing in line to get in so my advice is get there 15 minutes prior to opening. Terra was my favourite and Blue Water Grill was not great.

Probably not go again
The rooms were old and tired and food at specialty restaurants were less than anticipated. The staff was pleasant but slow. Check-in and checkout were ridiculously slow. Beach was nice and pool was clean.
