    Barcelona

Needs updating, the rooms are beat up. Food is ok, I expected better. Beach is excellent. Location is excellent. Overall I would give this resort a B minus grade. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I just expected better food and a more maintained facility.

    Winter vacation

Enjoyed the resort. People were friendly and very helpful. The beach was nice and the room was comfortable. The food was decent and plentiful. We have always like Aruba and would go back to this resort again.

    Barcelo - Meh

The hotel stay was decent, but we were looking for spectacular. This all inclusive fell short in the following areas - 1. Options of locations to relax when not at the pool or beach. 2. The rooms were outdated 3. We did not get what we reserved 4. The food was typical buffet food, I wish I could say it was better than any other but it was just like the rest. Very salty, dry or waxy. Not worth paying the extra for all inclusive. We wound up eating out in town which ultimately increased the amount budgeted for the trip 5. The drinks were weak & even when we specifically asked for Captain Morgan (which they claimed to have) we were brought watered down somethinorother.

    Barcelo Aruba, Our second home!

We have been staying here for 7 years in a row, we are timeshare holders and we defenitly love this place. The staff is the best, specially Ivete,Belinda and Marolyn in the members area, they are always making sure we have the best vacation week, they make everyhting possible. We love to eat at the buffet, they have so many choices, and also the Italian which is one of our favorite restaurants. The beach is the best on the island with the most clean and beautiful white sand. Everytime we leave, we have just start counting down the days to come back! see you in 2021!!

    Barcelo Aruba - last week!

Just returned from Barcelo in Aruba. Due to some reviews, I kept my expectations low and my hopes high. Well, we were happily surprised with the service, food and property. We got a family/friends discount through one of our pals and held the Prestige level at the resort. This allowed us to have a room on a Royal floor (better rooms) and access to the Royal lounge (top shelf liquor & private internet area). We got a fabulous ROOM - junior suite on the 9th floor. While it did not overlook the pool, it did have an awesome view of the ocean & great sunsets. Yes, a parking lot was part of the view, but it didn't ruin it for us. Can't change the fact there is a parking lot there. When I looked down from our balcony (which was wonderfully spacious), we saw the garden views that some people complained about - but what are you going to do? Barcelo does their very best to camouflage the lot with a grassy area and tall plants & bushes adjacent to the patio. Rooms on the bottom floors have extra large patios in exchange for the not-so-fab views. So my advice is pay more for the Royal floors (better views) if that's what you want! Next topic FOOD. Again - some reviews said the food what not good and/or no variety. Are you kidding me? No variety? I don't understand that. We had good meals at the the buffet every day. Yes, they served mostly the same food items daily, however, most was very good. My choices were a made-to-order omelet or eggs everyday and lunch was a made-to-order chicken breast put over salad from the salad bar with a cup of soup. You can always get a made-to-order hot dog and burger at lunch or make a sandwich, as there were plenty of cold cuts & bread, as well as, tons of other hot choices. We had no problem finding things to eat that we enjoyed. Advice - some food items aren't steam pan-worthy, so use your head and don't choose those ones! Or don't go to an all inclusive resort if you don't like the concept of eating in the same place(s) day after day. RESTAURANTS - we ate at all 4 and they were all great! In order of fav: 1) Italian 2) Japanese 3) Mexican 4) Seafood. No complaints on any of them. All had delicious food and great service. POOL & BEACH: both are very nice. Downside, pool music is a bit much, as is beach music/activities. We chose the furthest seats from the music source, so we figured that out fine. I think it might be quiet in the morning, but we sleep in, so we didn't get to experience that. Also note, we never had a problem finding chairs because after 12 pm there was always a place to lounge. The boardwalk that connects the resorts is awesome! Safe and easy to walk both ways from Barcelo. Great pier bars to go to. STAFF - shout out to Ivette, Marolyn & Tony in the Royal office/lounge plus Sandy our housekeeper. They were all wonderful from beginning to end! Thank you so much for a wonderful week!!! If we come back to Aruba, we will stay here again!
