This resort is top of the line. The grounds, hotel, entire resort was immaculate. So clean and comfortable. The people were amazing, especially loved Sky and Delicious! Such fun. Food was so good, I gained 5lbs in 5 days (worth it). Drinks were great and plentiful!. Can't say enough about this place, we will be back!
Pampered Like Never Before
Secrets St James caters to your individual needs. From the time you arrive until your check out, the staff at the hotel ensures nothing but superb service. We enjoyed the smiling faces of all the staff everyday, the amenities around the hotel, the bars and night life. They have 5 different restaurants that serve a 5 star meals that includes appetizer, salad, soup, main course, and dessert. We really enjoyed our one week stay at this hotel and will definitely return in the future.

Honeymoon July 2019
My wife and I stayed in the Preferred Club of Secrets St. James. This is a summary of our experience. Property: Beaches and pools were all immaculate. There were always chairs/lounges available at both the beach and pool. Rooms were clean and modern. Cleaned/turned down twice per day. "Upgraded" mini bar replenished daily. Note: upgraded mini bar simply means you have a mini bar stocked with water, soda and red stripe beer. Food: Breakfast and lunch spots were mostly sub-par. The dinner restaurants were decent--none of the food blew us away. Dress codes are not typically followed anywhere. One exception was the night we ate at Bourdeaux and were turned away from eating in the dining room while wearing chino shorts (this is mentioned in their dress code so I was not surprised). I was taken aback by the fact that a Jamaican family wearing sweatpants, sneakers, and t-shirts and using a towel to wipe their sweat were allowed inside and we were not allowed in wearing chino shorts and collared shirts. Service: Employees around the resort were pleasant for the most part. The employee who provided the best service the entire 8 days was the bellman, Chris Brown. He was the first smile we saw upon arrival and the last smile we saw on departure. Everybody else just seemed to be going about their business with little to no regard for improving out experience. TIPS. Jamaican tourism is apparently very heavily based on tips. The all-inclusive fee is supposed to include gratuities. Of course we're not naive and we brought some cash to tip our way to better drinks/service, we were very quickly reminded that we would need to tip to receive even mediocre service. As an example, we used the hotel-recommended bus transfer (Amstar) for our 10 minute ride airport transfer. We were hassled for tips by three different people before ever stepping foot on our hotel property. HINT: Do not bring large bills in hopes of exchanging them for smaller denominations. The front desk agents will only give you $5.00 increments. The total for tips got very expensive by the end of the week as we were forced to tip everybody $5.00 at every turn. Preferred Club: It's hard to say whether or not the PC was worth the cost. We did have a small bar in the lobby of our hotel which made getting drinks/snacks very easy when going in or out of the hotel. We did make our way over to the Breathless hotel a few times to enjoy their restaurants and bars. Those are really the only benefits you get. Overall: Jamaica was beautiful and the resort is no different. The service and food were mediocre. While we enjoyed ourselves and had a very relaxing trip, I see no reason to return to this Secrets property in the future.
Poor Experience So Far...
Having stayed at two other Secrets properties, my experience with this resort (even before staying) is falling well short of expectation. I have sent four emails over as many months simply requesting that we and another couple we are travelling with get rooms next to each other and that the rooms have king sized beds. Having received no response whatsoever, I feel that I should share this...
