The RIU Ocho Rios is a beautiful property, everything about it from lobby, rooms, grounds, dining area, and especially the beach. I have travelled to quite a few places in the Caribbean, my home is Jamaica. I have always loved the people, and was impressed with the staff here. Francisco, a chef was so pleasant and funny. He always acknowledged me and made sure I was ok. Bezu who also served meals, always had a smile, and made sure I was taken care of also, with a wave whenever we saw each other. There was Anna Maria (whom I dealt with the most) at the front desk, she was pleasant, helpful, accommodating, as were the other staff I dealt with. There was Jeffrey, the gentleman that accompanied me with my luggage to the room, pleasant, helpful, answering any questions I had. There was Karlene, in charge of overseeing the dining area. She was so pleasant, came over to see that everything was ok, and too simply say hi and make sure my party were taken care of. All the staff during the meals were pleasant and accommodating. We had supper the night before at the Mandalay restaurant. Cavane with his upbeat attitude went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with our meals provided us our requests. I would and have recommended this hotel to family and friends. Thank you so much for an awesome vacation for the first time and surely more to come. Have an awesome day everyone! Visiting Riu During the Pandemic
I felt very relaxed during my visit to Riu Ocho Rios. I was pleased to see all the sanitization taking place. I would however suggest the wearing of face shields for staff at the resort. I think the extra layer of protection is good for their sake. The quality of food has improved but I would still ask for some more variety in the choice of a menu.
DO NOT book this hotel this staff is repulsive, petty, snide and service is non-existent the overall mood is depressing the room smells this hotel has fallen in every way possible I would not recommend it to my worst enemy they could not pay me to stay there again manager Selina was useless. Tjay was much better. Riu needs to send it's staff to the tourism training center in Jamaica they are poorly trained and it shows
Was throughly satisfied. Food was really good on time everytime... Rooms were excellent and view just as good. Loved the slide Big up to the staff.. Special thumbs up to Zoey and ricardo who made the stay even better
Great place to stay and great price
We stayed here with a family of 4 (two adults and two children). There were lots of activities for the kids and adults. At night they had kind of like a talent show / game show that our kids got to go up on stage and participate with the adults in the audience cheering them on. The staff were awesome and the room was clean. We got to go sailboating everyday which was nice too. Remember to bring your scuba diving license I forgot mine!
