Don’t get married here
if you get married here please get your own photographer. They up charge you triple knowing you have to buy wedding pics. Food is average and the service is terrible. Every bartender outside of the pool has an attitude. Takes 3 hours for room service to come and when it does it will be cold or missing something. Go to Mexico or another location and save your money.
Just returned from St James. The resort property is very beautiful and is combined with Wild Orchid. The workers were always seen cleaning the resort. Our room was very clean, bathroom was nice and our bed was very comfortable. The resort has great entertainment with the shopping area, theater, piano bar and night club. Always something to do. The pool was very nice and clean, swim up bar is fun. When ordering a drink ask for extra liquor as the drinks aren't made very strong otherwise. The beach is tiny and not quite what I was expecting. Unfortunately, a worker told us they are going through a tropical depression so the water was not clear at all. Which was a bummer because we were really looking forward to snorkeling. The jerk chicken cart was SO awesome, one day he had jerk pork which was out of this world! The breakfast and lunch buffet was delicious and our favorite meal was from the Italian Restaurant. The Hibachi restaurant was OKAY and we were not impressed at all with the Jamaican restaurant. We were able to eat a night at Breathless which was good. Also, check out the foam party at Breathless, great people watching and a lot of fun! When it came to service, some workers really went out of their way to please you. Some were better than others, but I think you get that where ever you go. I definitely had no problem tipping the servers that went above and beyond, they deserved it. Overall, I was very happy with this resort and I would come back!
Service not up to par for Secrets
We have been to a least 5 other secrets and this one the service was just not up to Secrets standards. The hotel was beautiful and the water was clear and pretty but the service just wasn't the same. I realize we are probably spoiled to the amazing service in Mexico but we were a little disappointed in this one. The people are very nice but my room service meal was lost 2X.
No one answered our questions directly. We always had to talk to several people and explain ourselves all over again. We had several issues that were never resolved. The outside area with pools and beach was great. Could use some more dining options especially for lunch.
Soso for Honeymoon
Right off the bus we were questioning our decision to come here. Gloomy, dark, small entrance. Sticky wood, dirty cushions, ... No tickets for the luggage on hotel transportation (heard someone lost both carry on for 3 days!) Took over 1 hour to get our room ready. On our way to the room, a whole level (3rd) were covered of bird feces. This was for a while since it was dried. We mentioned it 3 times throughout our stay and guess what... IT'S STILL THERE DIRLY AS HELL! On 20 staff, about 4-5 were friendly and joking around. Most looked tired and a bit snob. Missing the honeymoon banner on door. Doors are all dirty from sunscreen guest (how hard would it be to wash it up one a day?!). We had to call to get our in bed with sparkling wine (no one checked if we received it). Safe had low battery (we asked to change them. Was done with old battery so still can't lock!). We were supposed to get sweets at night time. Well got them once in a week. Security issues with the secret door (there is a small door communicating with outside so the staff can take dirty plates or serve you breakfast without coming in the room): you can open both door from the outside. A small child can get through! Most cameras network wires are accessible from anywhere. Someone can cut them and bang: no more cameras. Stairway hall dirty, we didn't want to touch anything going down or up. Comon: paint could cover this in one day. Room: dirty jacuzzi. Do not take a bath: you'll get an infection. We left mosquitoes in the tub. Well after the 4th day we asked 3 times to wash. The jets were not washed and plastic still stained. Shower: was ok. But what was supposed to be shiny was dull (see pictures). Bed was ok. But pillow are too thick and stays inflated. I had to push hard to remove air. Very uncomfortable for the neck. Overall was clean. I couldn't find dust on anything in the room. Food: was good. But we preferred at breathless. They have all services but takes a good 45 minutes to get in room. On 4 orders there was 2 mixup. Overall: was ok but for the money we would go back to the luxury bahia principe anytime!
