One week in Paradise
We stayed in the resort for 7 nights during second week of October. We arrived on Saturday where the hotel was fully booked. With only 35 cottages, it had the cosy atmosphere of boutique hotel, friendly and attentive staff, as well as friendly guests. We had room 21, closer to Valley Church beach. Everything in the cottage was fine for us. The outstanding part was the panoramic seaview from the balcony. The Caribbean sunset was stunning! The outdoor twin showers were good, well blend in with the nature(canopy of palm trees when showering). Though we had to pace our way up and down the slope from our room everyday, it was totally worth it! Food in the main restaurant was good with lots of variations in menu. We enjoyed very much the squid tampura and mahi mahi dishes. The staff always served us with big smiles. In the evening, the restaurant was particularly busy from 7:30 to 8:00 but it was easy to get a few drinks in the bar area with the occasional live music. This holiday has certainly fulfilled the Sun, Sea and Sand factors - Sunny most of the days with the occasional rain storms, azure coloured Sea, 2 Sandy beaches though we preferred Jolly beach, closer to the restaurant. Cocos hotel also has a lot of wildlife among the greens(mongoose, butterflies, green lizards, humming birds, pelicans, egrets, bananaquits..... ). Being such a green environment in a rainy season, we advised not to forget to bring extra strength insect repellent - we had quite a few insect bites. The hotel also provided the spray but we needed jungle formula with lots of deet! Maybe, if each cottage can be equipped with a large umbrella(just like in Maldives), this will be useful for those rainy moments getting from our room to the restaurant. We have had a lovely, relaxing holiday here, thank you!!
Perfect slice of paradise!
I recently visited COCO’s Hotel with my boyfriend this month. We chose Antigua due to it still being open to travellers arriving from the UK. We were due to go to Barbados however had to cancel due to the recently changed restrictions upon arrival. All I can say about coco’s is how incredibly spot on it is. Everything from the views to the staff were excellent. It’s a beautiful place which is just the right amount of easy going and chill vibes with a bit of a party thrown in on a Thursday evening. We were made to feel so welcomed by all who worked there and the staff could not do enough for us. We had a pool room and the views were breathtaking especially at sunset - I recommend getting this room if you can it’s so worth it. The hotel and the rooms are definitely rustic but I think this adds to the charm of the place. The beds were comfy and everything was really clean. The outside shower is fab and so nice after a day at the beach. The food (although limited due to covid) was delicious and the chef even made us a special dish one evening! The menu is Changed every night which helps keep it fresh with enough choice to keep you going. I definitely recommend the beef patties on the snack menu! The cocktails definitely pack a punch - particularly at the beach bar around sunset! We had the very best stay and we would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visit Antigua. A few other tips I recommend if staying here is: - booking the extreme boat tour - can book from reception and is such a great boat trip - lobster from Linton on the beach. He does not work from the hotel but he has a bbq on the beach and catches fresh lobster each day and BBQ’s it on the beach for you. Best lobster I have ever had and huge! - book the skylork snorkel tour - we booked this before we came and both through the hotel but I’m sure they could help you book if you asked - it was the best snorkelling I’ve ever done. I got to swim up close with sea turtles (something I’ve always wanted to do) and see so much more amazing sea life. You get to use a jet scooter while snorkelling which is really cool also! Can’t wait to go back to Antigua and hopefully coco’s Hotel!
From the room to the staff everything was amazing just so happy we chose this hotel so friendly nothing to much for the staff they made you feel relaxed with there smiles and we can do that for you nothing was ever a problem to all the staff they are fantastic hope to come back soon
Absolutely hated, hated, hated leaving this piece of paradise. From check in to check out, everything was perfect. Cocos Set on a hill, the rustic wooden cottages dotted amongst the trees and gardens overlooking the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea. When you arrive at Cocos the reception is on your left and a small bar to the right. In front is a large lounge area with very comfortable seating and this then leads to the large dining area. These area's all look out to the stunning Caribbean Sea. It also has a small souvenir shop and a spa in the Serenity cottage. It is on a hill, so if you have mobility problems, you can either be moved to the sister hotel which is flat or get a cottage near the bottom. There are golf carts to take guests to the cottages but it is limited because of covid restrictions and the 11pm curfew for the staff. There was entertainment 3 nights a week from a great singer to steel drums. It was really good apart from the Saxophonist who was on one night only. Cottage Our Cottage 28 had a large balcony with a hammock, two comfortable chairs and a small table and a view of the sea, although the view was limited by a couple of trees. The bedroom had a large King size four poster bed with mosquito nets and bedside tables and lamps. Also a small desk and chair, a rattan armchair and most important a minibar. Through into the small hallway where there was hanging space for your clothes which also had the ironing board. Across were some shelves for clothes, the iron and the safe (key operated not electronic). Into the bathroom, there was the toilet, his and hers wash bowls and bath and hand towels. Also there were loads of toiletries and face towels. Outside was the shower, loved the outdoor showering. Beaches and beach bars. Jolly beach is to the right of Cocos and has powdery white sand and a gentle slope in to the sea. The beach bar has lounge areas and is right on the sea edge. There are plenty of sunbeds, no problem getting one. There is a small souvenir shop not affiliated to Cocos. There are one or two beach sellers, but they are not pushy. You can walk along the beach right around the bay and about halfway is a beach bar called Sandra's which opens about dinner time. To the right of the beach bar is the small pool with sunbeds. The other side of Cocos is Churchill beach which is a white sanded narrower beach with sunbeds, and a beach bar set back a little. You can also walk along this stretch of beach but its not as long as Jolly beach. Restaurant The dining area had plenty of tables on two decks. All meals were al a carte with plenty of choice (although I believe the menu had been shortened because of covid restrictions). You had hand sanitisers before you entered the dining area and all the tables and chairs were thoroughly cleaned after each guest had finished. From 11.30 to 5.30 you could get snacks from the restaurant or beach bars. Staff Well what can I say, some of the friendliest most helpful staff you could ever meet, nothing to much trouble. I will mention some and apologise if I miss some out. Stephen, Kerry-Ann, Karima, Akil, Shereen and the big guy (sorry didn't get his name) from the bars. Nicolette, Franklyn, Sandi (Colette), Niki, Janelle, Loreen from the restaurant. Dianne who kept our room so clean and the minibar well stocked. Ebony, Namene and Chiquera from reception, such lovely ladies. Also the owners wife (sorry again didn't get her name) who spoke to us a couple of times to make sure everything was good. A big THANK YOU to you all. It was a fantastic holiday, and that is praise from someone who is not a beach holiday fan. It is perfect for chilling or if you feel more energetic there are water sports. We really enjoyed ourselves and met some wonderful people, staff and guests (Simon and Luiz). The rustic charm and the sounds of the frogs and insects singing at night were just heaven. We will be back again next year.
