Beautiful place, perfect weather & wonderful people
There are many wonderful things to say about our trip. The pool & beach were great. Chairs could always be found at the pool regardless of what time we showed up. There were friendly servers everywhere. The food was delicious with an abundance of selections so we enjoyed eating buffet for breakfast and lunch Our only complaint was the way the restaurants handled dinner. We were told at checkin there were no reservations, first come first served, open from 6pm to 9pm. The limited time they were open was disappointing but we could deal with that, so we thought.. We expected that we would have to wait which wasn't a problem. We usually don't eat until 8 or 9 on vacation. What we weren't told, is in order to get into one, you needed to show up at 6 to put your name on a list. You can not for example, go down at 7pm and expect to wait on a line to get in. By that time they are full for the evening. Maybe it's coming from New York, but here we may wait & are given an approximation as to how long it will be before you can be seated. You can either wait or come back. People are not told the place is full for the evening when it's only one hour after it opened. We chose this place because there was a choice of restaurants for dinner. It's the one meal on vacation that we would like to be served. Advertising a choice of restaurants at an all inclusive & not being able to get in to one is very misleading. Other then this major flaw we might have given the place a five star rating.
Pros: Great service, good food and very clean. The hotel was spotless. Everyone was pleasant and the beach was beautiful. The selection of food was fantastic. Cons: rooms need to be renovated- the bed was very uncomfortable, you only have a choice of 2 beers and the constant noise from the new hotel being built right beside the pool was very loud at the pool and even on the beach. It went on everyday except Friday. I would go back again but after the construction was completed.
Just got home yesterday!
Apple Vacations rated this place 6 Golden Apples. I see why. The place was beautiful, well kept, the staff was very attentive and very kind. When we arrived, our safe wouldn't lock but we called the front desk and someone came within 5 minutes and fixed it. No more problems! Our room had recently been painted, very clean very nice. The food was delicious! Our favorite was the meal at the Aruban restaurant. I felt the staff was very proud to share their heritage. Unfortunately, I was too full to finish my dessert - the one that is traditionally served at weddings .My husband enjoyed his chocolate cake with coconut ice cream. we booked a sunset snorkeling Tour with Sailaway Tour. Five Stars!! the first stop at the sunken ship was a little choppy water, but the next two stops were perfect! The staff was very engaging and I felt safe.
Wonderful week with my wife
My wife and I arrived on Saturday and are staying through next Saturday. The Riu Paradise Antilles is a very clean hotel well situated on a beautiful part of Palm Beach. The staff is exceptionally friendly, and there are a lot of good restaurant choices. My one suggestion is that if you are a light sleeper, you will want to avoid a room on the south side of the hotel. There is a major construction project next door, and you can hear the heavy equipment after 8 am.
Great Value, Fun place to stay
This may be long but I wanted to give my entire and honest review from our 8 days at the RIU Antillas. We go to Aruba each year and this is our first time at the RIU. The lobby is clean and updated. They have a very nice bar in the Lobby with friendly bartenders. All inclusive makes it a great value however the liquor was low quality. If you drink frozen drinks you cant tell the difference. The wine wasn't great. We actually went out several nights so we could enjoy a good glass of wine. The food..... Buffet breakfast was great, Buffet lunch offered several options and also great. Dinner not so good! You have to show up 30 minutes before they open to get first seating and after that you're on a wait list. We did this one night and had a horrible 1 star meal. We also tried the buffet for dinner one night. Not horrible but expected a little better. The other 6 nights we left the resort for better food and drinks for dinner. That being said the all inclusive cost was less than several other hotels in the area without the free food and drinks so overall a great value. Our room was a Jr. Suite ocean front. Incredible views! The rooms need a good scrubbing and a little touch up paint. That said we shower and sleep in the room the rest of the time we are on the beach or enjoying the island. The bed was very comfortable. The AC didn't cool the room to our liking but we didn't complain as it wasn't that bad. The best part of the RIU are the employees. They are FANTASTIC. so very nice, they remember you and always have a smile. The pool is large but you have to get a towel in a chair by 7am if you want to save a chair for latter. They always have room on the beach although it was so windy that we couldn't stay on the beach during this trip. They have a separate bar side swim up pool. We tried it one time but it was disgustingly dirty!!! Very sad to see this as we would have used it every day. Several others commented on how nasty the water looked. Poolside drinks we easily obtained by any of the poolside staff with a smile. I really wanted to give this place a 5 instead of the 4 but due to the nasty bar pool and the sub standard dinners i had to knock it down one spot. That being said I will probably go back next year. This place was extremely fun to visit despite its shortcomings.
