Friends fun in the sun
Best vacation and resort. We travelled with 9 couples. Resort had lots of pools, was right on the water. Easy to get around, not too large. Lots of variety in restaurants. Staff were excellent. There were a few problems with rooms. One couple didn't have hot water all week. One couple had a room that was equipped for special needs which they didn't need so there was a problem with showering. I would recommend with advertising the rooms that are on the second floor ocean view do not have a balcony. All in all it was a fantastic resort in my opinion that has been transitioning over from last fall. Keep up the good work.
Great place in the sun!
Feb 4-14 /2020 before the C-19 chaos hit worldwide! Beautiful beach and sand on Carribean side Yucatan peninsula. We had ocean front so an added plus but found with it being a resort for under 400 guests and a low-rise (three floors) it was relaxing and never crazy busy. The restaurants were fabulous, and available without reservations when dress code was observed. Finally, the staff were superb...again due to smaller -sized resort one was able to get to know many staff quite well and admire their warmth and abilities. Ancient ruin of Tulum was nearby as well as Secreto cenotes (underground caves with water) and a worthwhile day tour for sure. If you are a vacation 'shopper', plan to leave the resort area as there is no 'town' nearer than Akumal village about 10 miles up the coast. We booked through TransAt and would also recommend their booking, transfer service and tour services. Great value and we will return God willing!
Wonderful quiet resort, highly relaxing
I would thoroughly reccomend the resort. It's a nice quiet hotel, pretty small and cosy but plenty of facilities and amenities. The beach seems pretty small but there was enough space for all the hotel guests. One annoyance was that too many guests would place towels on the loungers early and then not turn up, the hotel should do something to stop this. The food was good in most of the restaurants but it was sometimes a long wait at peak times. A poolside room in the Sunclub area was worth the investment, excellent room, good size and not too noisy at all.
Awesome resort and staff!
We had an awesome time! At first we though the beach was small, but it was a perfect size for the hotel and we never had trouble getting chairs. The beach itself was very nice too- not too much of the seaweed that a lot of Mexican beaches have. The food was much better than the average resort, we thought. The restaurants were awesome and had a nice fancy feel. There were a ton of bars! All of them had drink menus so you could try their signature drinks. The pool was nice too and had shaded areas. One of the best parts was that they had an outdoor grill, which meant you didn't have to go get changed just to grab a bite to eat for lunch. They have a cafe too, which was awesome and open at all hours. We are in our early 20s and found that the resort had very mixed age groups, mostly middle aged couples and not too many young adult crowds or kids. My boyfriend really loved that there was a little gym and there were fishing tour boats right on the beach. Although we had a great time, the parts we though the resort could improve on are the entertainment and rooms. We weren't there for a full week (6 days, 5 nights), and all the nights we were there they had a pretty poor night schedule (just karaoke and signing contests). It would be nice if there were better shows with more variety. We did really like the live music they had some nights though. In terms of the rooms, they were very clean but absolutely needed dehumidifiers. The air was so dense that our towels never dried and our sheets smelled because of the moisture in the air. The resort should really invest in getting dehumidifiers for each room. Other than these two nitpicks, we loved this resort and would definitely recommend it to others! All of the staff was incredible here!! So friendly. We wanted to write a special thanks to the following staff members that we thought went out of their way: bartenders Eduardo at the lounge, both Julios at the beach bar, and Antonio at the pool bar. They were so nice and friendly, we had a great time talking with them and they made amazing drinks! Also, the wonderful cafe ladies Noeli (she makes the best iced mocha!!) and Adalina! They always greeted us in the morning with big smiles. If you come here, look out for these awesome staff members.
Nice small all-inclusive.
This is a very nice small all-inclusive that is part of the AM resorts family. It's not a new resort but one that has recently been acquired by AM. As such they are still working out some of the kinks. There are several things we love about the AM resorts and you have to start with their employees. All are very good and several stand out. Farid worked his butt off and Manuel and Antonio were great at the swim up bar. 24 hour room service is a nice perk as well as walk up service at the specialty restaurants. Our room was fine and everything worked as it should. The food everywhere was good but not great. If you want to be entertained constantly you might want to consider one of their bigger resorts. The beach had crystal clear water but the water was a tad nippy as were several of the pools. There are a lot of rocks on the seafloor so you'll probable want water shoes. We didn't have too much trouble finding chairs although sometimes not exactly where you wanted them. At times some of the bars were understaffed but they eventually got to you. Use the AMSTAR transport and they'll take you directly to the resort. It'll take you about 1 1/2 hours to get to the resort from the airport. One warning is that they will aggressively try to sell you a time share package. This is pretty much true for all of the AM Resort properties. Unless you're into that kind of thing just blow them off or they'll end up taking half of your day.
