Beautiful beach and Nice food
Everything is as excellent, except for some waiters service, but still waiters don’t matter. The beach is awesome, full of fishes and turquoise color. We took a snorkel trip and it was awesome, the guide (I forgot his name) was very funny. The food was good, we really enjoyed it. The alcohol was cheap cheap quality. The pillows in the rooms are very cheap as well. Overall this is a hotel I will go back to.
We were there as a group of 8 girls from the 29th April for 2 weeks. There are lots of positives but also a couple negatives. It is a stunning hotel in a lovely location. The rooms were spotless and serviced every day. The gardens and pool areas are lovely and great to be served drinks at your sunbed whether you're on the beach or by the pool. Overall the standard of food was excellent. Our favourite was the Asian and we had an excellent rib eye steak in the steak house. The staff were mostly very friendly around the hotel and gardens. The only negatives were the hideous booking system for the restaurants. Everybody was moaning about it and it did spoil our enjoyment of the hotel. Also some of the staff in the restaurants, apart from the buffet, were quite rude. Especially the ones who we had to book our tables with and also in the restaurants we either had to ask for drinks or once we'd had one drink we didn't get offered another. Also at weekends the hotel is packed with locals. They just seemed to take over. The pools were packed and large groups everywhere. Overall I would recommend this hotel but they need to sort out the booking system for the restaurants.
I honestly can't recommend this hotel enough. We spent 2 weeks here for our honeymoon at the beginning of April & we weren't disappointed! Take the negative reviews with a pinch of salt. The pillows were fine, the rooms were always clean, as was the rest of the hotel. The staff were always polite and tried to help where they could - Thank you to Stacy (one of the chefs) for always saying hello & Rudolpho for making sure we had what we needed. We did a number of trips & we are so glad we did, we got to see so much we would never get to see elsewhere. All in all a beautiful hotel and beautiful country!
Don’t waste your money
Very low class! Friendly staff , but that’s it! 75%kids, food was horrible, room smelled like sewer. Service horrible, drink selection worst ever for an all inclusive, I’d never come back 75 % locals , that vacationed, so disappointing, Mexico riveria Maya hands down a 10 compared to this ! Dirty beach no blue water !
relaxed & hot
The hotel is located 30-45mins from airport, very nice and what you would expect from a Riu. Check in was seamless. Wi-fi all around the hotel, not just in reception. Room was spacious and minibar was topped up every couple of days, optics in room but only used them once. bathroom was big with 2 sinks, massive bed, big balcony TV in room as well. The hotel is set in lovely gardens and very well kept, always working on them to keep tidy. all the hotel staff work very hard and are very pleasant. Pool is amazing and it was certainly needed, very hot all day and night. pool bar was excellent and staff great, every Wednesday the entertainment staff host a foam party and it's really good fun. Entertainment staff work very hard to keep people happy. Food was excellent, buffet restaurant was open AM & PM for lunch time snacks you have to use the steak restaurant near the pool. There are 4 specialty restaurants and these are 1st come 1st serve, Asian & Italian due get really busy so we were queuing at 5.30pm but well worth it, the food is amazing, we didn't try the a la carte, Steakhouse was closed 2 nights that we tried, but glad we got in on the 3rd as again the steak was delicious. Drink was in decent plastic glasses and good measures, there was a different cocktail each day and had to be tried. we did walk down the beach towards monkey bar and there were monkeys there that were very friendly, we found the drinks expensive at monkey bar but it was an experience, we walked back through the woods (Safe path) and there is a little market of about 5-6 stalls before getting back on to the beach, do not drop their prices much. We did a couple of excursions, Sunset cruise is well worth it, really amazing afternoon. Pardo verde river, this was to see the Crocodiles and wildlife and a sugarcane plantation, again worth the money. Caught the sea taxi into Coco Beach for a few hours, book the day before, gentleman sat on path near pool, cost $20 return, was a great fun. Coco Beach ok for shopping and a drink/food. The only thing I can fault about the whole holiday was the price of the photo's taken by the Riu staff in the pool, we had some amazing pictures taken, looked at them but they were priced @ $15 per photo and you have them emailed to you and still have pay for printing them yourself. There are shops in between the hotels, which provide trinkets. Must also say Costa Rica is a very strict country for "no smoking" no where at airport to smoke, smoking areas in Hotel, not allowed to smoke on Balcony. area near entertainment at nights, outside front of hotel and round back of steakhouse near the pool, could smoke on the beach. The howler monkeys are very secretive in the trees, but you certainly won't miss them when they start making a noise
