Just what you would expect for price
Everything you read on other reviews are correct. But this is what one should except for a mid-range all-inclusive in Costa Rica and you get what you make out of it. Average food (at best), average drinks, average service (note tipping didn't improve service..and mind you I was tipping so my mom-in-law didn't have always go get a drink..not just so I'd get better service), nice people, good room (albeit a bit of a smell), beautiful property. We had a great time with our family and friends, but we wouldn't go back.
I can't say anything bad about this resort. The food was amazing! We ate like Kings. The room had a mini bar fully stocked which was great. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were nice and the grounds beautiful. I great place to stay with family.
Good value Riu style!
Nice hotel for couple or family vacations. Nice pool areas and gardens. Wonderful breakfast buffets. Lunch buffet could be better. À La Carte restaurants difficult to go... Always full... Usual old furniture Riu rooms. Wonderful pull pubs with drinks made with real fruits!!! The beach had a ruff sea to enter... We went on March so I don´t know if this happened because of the season... Notice that in costa Rica you can´t smoke anywhere but in the street, not even in the hotel gardens or in the beach! and this goes for every hotel. I would return!
Great location for couples and family friendly. The resort is beautiful. Its right on the beach, which is great. The staff are friendly and also good service. Food is okay, but no room service. The resort offers daily entertainment and also you can book activities from lobby area, which i highly recommend. There is a casino, night club, and small shops on property grounds. The beach area is nice and you can interact with locals which is nice.
Costa Rica 2019
We stayed at the Riu Guanacaste July 27-August 2, 2019. Beautiful resort, very clean and friendly staff. I read so many bad things about the food so I had low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised because the food was great. it was very fresh and very healthy. Honestly I love it! it had one bad problem, the sit down restaurants. they open from 6-8 pm and in order to get in people were getting in line at 5pm. We did not want to stand in line for one hour in the heat. they should have like other resorts, advance reservations. We had a great time but next time we will stay at another resort because we like to eat at least 3 times in a nice restaurant and unfortunately we did not get a change.
