Nice and cozy resort!
Our family of 10 stayed at Reflect Krystal Grand to celebrate our mom’s 81th birthday and our niece’s birthday. All the staff and employees have gone beyond their duties to help us making great memories for such memorable occasions. We would like to especially thank: Gerardo Zavala - UVC member service- who helped checking in process so speedy and enjoyable. He always checked in with us to make sure we are having a good time! Damien - The Pool Concierge - who helped taken care of our mom’s wheelchair rental Alejandro at “O” restaurant for his superb and attentive services. He always prepared the tables ready for us to sit together and catered to all we need. The manager and staff at the “O” restaurant who had helped our mom and niece to celebrate their birthdays with making special birthday cakes and coming out to sing “Happy Birthday”. We hope the management will recognize those outstanding employees for doing such a wonderful job!!! And we save the best for last, Ms. Iraburo - UVC Member Service Executive - for her help to accommodate us, not only upgrading our rooms but also making sure we stay together on the same floor. We will highly recommend the resort to families and friends and we sure will come back in the future.
How can this possibly be considered 4 star??
I took a gamble and booked CheapCaribbean.com’s Deal of Fortune for 4 nights in Nuevo Vallarta. (Side note: I could have sworn that I’d purchased a 4.5 star resort package rather than a 4 star package, but there is no confirmation of either in my booking information.) Roughly a week before my trip, I learned I would be staying at Reflect Krystal. Upon arrival at 1pm, I was shown to my room. (Props to them for not making me wait until check in at 3pm) The run of the house room I was taken to resembled a miniature version of a cheap roadside motel room I might book on a long car trip to catch some rest before hopping back in the car. There was a musty odor in the room that I assumed was likely due to no AC running for a day or three. While I had anticipated a run of the house room, this was a disappointment. I sincerely wondered how even the worst room in a hotel rated as 4 stars could resemble that room. I’ve stayed in nicer hostels. Lunch was also a disappointment. I grabbed a quick bite in the buffet area. Many bash food at all-inclusives but I typically find it better than not. The buffet and overall experience at Krystal was a considerable step down from the buffets I’ve been to at Dreams and Secrets properties. Aside from being shown to a table, not a single member of the staff addressed me. I was never even offered a drink or water. After lunch I inquired about upgrading my room and paid approximately $380 to move to a larger room with an ocean view in the main tower. It was over twice as big and considerably nicer than the original room but still relatively basic accommodations. I’d put it on par with a Holiday Inn or Best Western. The same musty odor, albeit stronger, was present. Naively I assumed once AC was running, it would subside. Having traveled all day, I showered and took a nap. The smell was still very present when I woke. I began to unpack and opened a drawer. A severely strong mildew smell came from the drawer. That triggered a closer inspection of the room and the discovery of several patches of mold (2 shown in pictures). In my review of the room I also came across the minibar. It contained no bottled water. (Neither did the minibar in the first room) Frustrated, I opted to book nights at another hotel nearby in a chain I’d stayed in before. I packed my things, requested a cab, and checked out. I was not interested in moving to a 3rd, 4th, or 5th room. To my surprise, the front desk refunded the money I’d paid to upgrade my room. I’d expected I’d have to duke that out once at home through my credit card company. To give credit where it is due, the staff I did interact with at Reflect were accommodating. However in no way, shape, or form is this a 4 star resort. 3 at best - in a mold free room!
Amazing vacations at Reflect Krystal
Amazing hotel!!! What makes it unique is the level of service provided from all the employees. Trino the Bellman is fenomenal, Manuel -PM Front Desk Manager, Ivan -Front Desk agent, Rolando Villavicencio -pool server, Erika Ballinas -F&B Pool supervisor, Fernando -Front Office Manager. This fantastic team is lead by Eduardo Magaña General Manager. They make you feel like you are at home. The extraordinary level of service exceeded my expectations. The hotel itself is marvelous, they recently added a tower and a large pool with plenty of lounge chairs conveniently located in the shallow part of the pool to allow one to enjoy the great weather of Nuevo Vallarta. They offer a variety of restaurants that would cater to anyone's preferences and taste. Let's not forget the beautiful beach(private 😃) Just steps away from the infinity pool. Enough said, you must come and see it for yourself...Cheers!
Stay elsewhere if you can
My family and I stayed there this past week and it was a bad experience. 1. They didn't have us on their guests list so they didn't have a room for us. We had to book another room while they sorted out the issue. 2. It's an all inclusive place but we weren't allowed to have dinner at one of the restaurants because we weren't on the guests list! 3. The staff at the front desk isn't helpful at all! It seemed to me that they're doing the bare minimum. We didn't feel welcome at all! 4. There is a dress code in order to eat at the restaurants. No sleeveless shirts or sandals. It's a beach resort!!!! People are in the pool or at the beach all day long not to mention the hot and humid weather! This is a stupid rule! Straight up! 5. There is absolutely nothing for an 8 year old kid to do. They have a game room but apparently it's only for kids 13-16. Needless to say we will not be going back to this resort. There are plenty of options in the area so if it's in your budget, stay elsewhere!
Our Trip was amazing. Our concierge w/ Unlimited Vacations went above and beyond to make this trip special. The resort was great and the staff was friendly. The pools were clean and Food was great! I would definitely recommend this resort!
