Mom and daughter holiday
Fantastic holiday! The room was ocean view as requested, the hotel is beautiful, oceanfront, very well managed, the food fresh, varied, for all tastes, sensibilities and palates. The service is excellent. The 3 restaurants on site were good, except for the Italian. They should look-up Osso Buco. The staff is incredibly hardworking, very pleasant, knowledgeable and friendly. The entertainment was good and more quiet than at the Riu Santa Fe next door which is more catered to the 18s and up. It’s more on the wild side. Swimming from the beach was a NoNo because of the swell and the power of the waves. We used the pools. That said, we would not hesitate to go back. We are already contemplating returning next year.
20th Anniversary - Vow Renewal
We stayed at the Riu Palace for our 20th anniversary and could not have asked for a better place. We renewed our vows and the staff were so amazing helping us put everything together. From the location, flower service, and photographer/videographer we were so amazed. The room we stayed in, the jacuzzi suite, was beautiful and right next to the water with the perfect view of the Arch ... we couldn't have asked for better staff from Linda, Lupita, Laura and the photography/videography staff. The recepcion was held at San Jose Italian Restuarant and the setting was beautiful plus we had the whole restaurant / patio to ourselves. The pastry chef made the cutest cake and it was absolutely amazing. If you are considering having your wedding / vow renewal this is the perfect place!!!!!
Wasn't what I expected
Ok let's start from the beginning. We arrived and the place looked awesome. Check in was easy. Room was not ready but we were early but they gave us wrist bands and cards for pool towels right away. Pools near the ocean were dirty bugs, food yes food in pools. Pool up front was cleaner and water slide was clean. Food at buffet was horrible! The specialty places were better. Rooms were nice. We had a ant issue at first but was corrected right away. NO ELEVATOR in our building and we were on the top floor that sucked. All employees were very nice. Location was nice $12 cab ride to the middle of town. There were signs that said what specialty restaurants were open and closed and they seems to be wrong. Entertainment never started at the right time. I think this place could be a good place for 20 to 30 something's that wanna get drunk and dont care so much about food. Drinks were great and plenty!
Downhill From Last Year
We stayed here May 2018 and are staying here right now. We just came back from a great week at the Riu Palace Aruba. Firstly, we’re in our sixties and we were put in a room farthest away from the main building/restaurants. It’s a tremendous hike to get to the lobby for a cappuccino or drink! Honestly, I think they give the more convenient rooms to the younger guests. I specifically asked for a room in the main building...twice! Secondly, the food is poor; selection is poor; trays are empty; food items are not labeled. We like Cabo..it’s our third time here and second time at this Riu property. We probably won’t be coming back to any Riu in Cabo.
Battle to get the oceanview room I reserved
The check-in took 3 hours and 30 minutes. - Before the trip, I had upgraded to a room with ocean view trough Sunwing. - The hotel wanted to give us a partiel view, not an ocean view. 1) First room, we never saw the inside because the key did not work. When I went back to the reception to ask for a key, I verified if the room was ocean view (as I knew it was not on the front of the beach). The lady said it was partiel view. I refused the room as it was not what I reserved. 2) She showed us a second room with a view on the side of the hotel, still not an ocean view. 3) She showed us another partiel view room with a strong smell of mold. Then we said to stop this. We were tired, did not eat. We left our luggages in our kids room and went for dinner. - When heading for the buffet, we encountered the rude manager. She asked me to "PROVE" her that we had an ocean view room. I that time I just wanted to leave the hotel. I could not believe what was happening. I told her that I was going to "PROVE" her as she requested and left for the buffet. - Later, she came back to see us at our table while we were eating to tell us that she finally found the reservation saying "Ocean view room". - After almost 4 hours of debating my reservation, we finally had the room with paid for.
