Paradise!!
This is truly our favorite resort. People, service, amenities and the property around the complex is fantastic. Here, we always feel like at home. People that work here, make this place really like no other place on earth. The one person that is one of our favorite is Eduardo. He is always our butler. He makes sure that our stay here is always flawless.

Excellent Customer Service
An absolutely wonderful experience and the customer service was top-notch! Cesar, our butler, was always available and making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Magdalena, our housekeeper, was sweet and kind and kept our house looking great. Samuel was part of our wait staff several times, and he kept us laughing and the drinks flowing! Everyone who worked at the exquisite golf course, to the beach wait staff, to the transportation staff was amazing. I would recommend Iberostar to anyone, and I truly hope to visit JOIA Bávaro in Punta Cana again!!!! Thank you all!!!!

What a great resort.
This is our fourth time being in this fabulous resort. We consider this place as our "second home" away from the place were we live. Everything about this property is pretty much 💯 percent perfect. We met many exceptional people here, but the one that really stands out is Eduardo ( our butler). He is always ready to help us with anything that we need. In my opinion, Iberostar should be very fortunate to have people like Eduardo working for them.

Honeymoon
This is my second time staying here and it was just as good as the last! Our butler César was great and so attentive. We got to play golf as well as do a couple massage and both experiences were amazing! Javiela in the buffet is the absolute best and remembered us from our last visit in 2019. All the staff are so friendly. Overall we 100% recommend!

Lengthy Review of a Fabulous 5 Star Adults-Only Resort!
JOIA BAVARO by Iberostar (Formerly Iberostar Grand Bavaro) My husband and I just got back from this beautiful resort November 26th. We were celebrating my husband’s Birthday and also our Anniversary. Check in was quick and efficient. Greeted with a cool towel, and a welcome drink. Our “wristbands” which served as our room key also, which is great, so you don’t have to carry around a room card to get in. We stayed 10 nights in an Oceanview Butler Room #7317 which was a beautiful room with nice bathroom with a big soaker tub. Our room had an amazing view of the ocean and the grounds which are so well kept and luscious! Our Butlers were Reynaldo and Cofe. Every day they ensured we had champagne in our room for about 4:30 when we returned to have showers and get ready for dinner. They found us every day asking what more they could do for us. They surprised us by decorating our room and bed with rose petals and prepared the big tub with bubbles and petals also for both celebrations. They even left a cake and chocolate covered strawberries. We didn’t use them as much as we could have as we are pretty self-sufficient when we travel. Reyna and Seferino were 2 of the Concierges that were so friendly and helpful near the front desk. Always greeting us with the biggest smiles. Be careful of them trying to sell you a “membership” though. We got convinced to go and ended up wasting 3 hours on a beautiful morning, them trying to make a deal with us. Although it did seem a great value if you travelled at least 3 times a year and booked with Iberostar, we didn’t fall for the “dog and pony show”. We like to keep our options open for travel within other resort chains too. We were given $150.00 US in Iberostar dollars however for our time, which can be used towards charges for the Spa, Gift Shop, or Wine purchase charges. We used them at time of check out against our bill. While we were there, we saw the “Il Divos” singing in front of the big boat and they were excellent!! Such amazing talent! Every evening there was a saxophone player and singer in the lobby which was great entertainment. Everyone was up dancing! We are early risers when away, so we didn’t take in a lot of the evening shows around the resort or in the theatre. Our favourite Al la Carte Restaurants were the Caribbean and the El Galeon Steakhouse. I sure ate quite a bit of Surf & Turf with lobster. Even in the Buffet when they had Gala night. Spectacular display of seafood and amazing Sushi also. Santos sure looked after us that night in the Buffet. The French restaurant was very good too. Our least favourite was the Italian. We tried it twice, thinking the first time was just a bad night. It was a shame because Jhonny, (more on him later) had gone out of his way to reserve us a special table for our Anniversary, complete with rose petals and a beautiful floral arrangement. He met us there to make sure we were seated, and we ordered a nice bottle of wine from him for the occasion. Once he was sure we were settled and had our wine he turned us over to the restaurant staff. We were kept waiting over and hour and a half before taking our order. We had the same waiter (Jesus) on both occasions. We did speak to the Restaurant Manager Darlyn about it, and he felt terrible and wanted to do something for us. We told him it wasn’t necessary, but hopefully he would have such situations corrected, as we were sure we weren’t the only ones to voice a complaint. As it turns out we had spoken to another couple that evening at the table next to us to find out they shared a similar experience. Room service was great and prompt! We had an order form that we filed out and they picked up from your door handle by midnight if you wanted breakfast in the morning. We asked for it to be delivered between 6:30 and 7 each time. They were there at 6:30 each time which is a first for any resort. Levy (sp?), which was one of the Bartenders around the Swim up Pool Bar was terrific and made excellent drinks. Julianni around the pool was so attentive in serving us drinks poolside, that we hardy had to leave our Cabana or the pool. She was wonderful!! In the Lobby we enjoyed specialty drinks and were entertained by Brandor and Tomas. We had our nightly martinis there! As well as enjoyed our “Mini Beers”! No problem with Premium alcohol selections here. Although, there are a few liquor choices that do have an upcharge. We can’t say enough about “Jhonny”!!! What a rare gem he is for this resort! His infectious laugh and positive manner earned our respect and Friendship while we were there. You can find him at the “Grand Cellar” which has a wonderful display of high-end liquors and wines for sale, or around the restaurants at night if you want to enjoy a special bottle for purchase. He knows his stuff, that’s for sure and happily goes out of his way to ensure you are having a wonderful time! For a 5 Star high-end Adults Only Resort, the house wines were just awful. I had an upset stomach each time I tried a glass with dinner. I had to buy a bottle of Pepto Bismol at the gift shop to ease the acid reflux. I guess this is a push to get you to buy some expensive wines to enjoy. But interacting with Jhonny is an absolute delight! He made every day special with his very distinctive laugh!!!! You can walk forever both ways on the white sand beach. There is some seaweed; however, they had a tractor out each morning to clean it all up. We went for our daily walk after breakfast each morning and sometimes again in the afternoon. The water was rough the first couple of days we were there but calmed down after revealing beautiful turquoise water. We had booked an excursion to go to Saona Island on a small yacht. We were disappointed when it was cancelled due to not enough signing up for the day. The other option was to take the catamaran out, but figured there would be far too many people for our liking. I had been watching this resort on TripAdvisor for a few years as the replica ship that sits in the lake in the centre of the resort looked intriguing. It was under renovation while we were there but opened the evening before we left. It is used as a disco type bar. I didn’t go to the re-opening but managed to get on the ship the next day to take pictures. I even did my best impersonation of Kate Winslet on the Titanic as I perched myself at the bow with my arms stretched outward. LOL!! As it’s an Adults-Only (18+) resort, the atmosphere is calm and respectful. There’s a sense of tranquillity across the complex that helps you unwind. We met some great people while there. And funny enough, a couple from our own neighbourhood. LOL!! Would we go back to this resort? ABSOLUTLEY!!!! OPTIONS & Highly recommended: We opted for a private Transfer through DAT (Dominican Airport Transfers) with VIP check in at the airport. We got off the plane and met before entering the building. Escorted into the VIP lounge where we were offered cocktails, etc. while she checked us in and even went to pick up our luggage. She took our passports and cleared us through customs, then ushered us outside to a DAT van that was waiting to take us both to the Resort. This sure saved on waiting for everyone to take their time to pick up their luggage and get on the bus which would have made a couple of other stops to various resorts and got us there much later. We had booked this for the return trip home also. It made waiting at the airport to depart much more enjoyable having drinks and eats in the lounge.
