Oct 02, 2024This beautiful & lush property had the best staff! Preferred Club was def worth the upgrade!
We've stayed in several all-inclusive resorts, but this is by far the best! The whole resort was clean, the rooms did NOT smell musty like many tropical resorts do, and the entire staff (from concierge to waiters to maids) were amazing and so helpful and friendly!

Fab Hotel we felt really spoilt here!
We really enjoyed our time 12 nights a BA holiday and booked a preferred club which for us felt worth the extra money. We were super lucky with the weather while we were there 33 daily and 30 still at midnight wow hot!. We did enjoy the preferred lounge but felt check in should be done at the front reception as often members were there complaining loudly at about 5pm about lack of upgrades etc when we wanted quiet drink. Oddly we had to check out at the main reception which was long and painful as no air con. The Room was beautiful and kept clean with everything you would want and had the best Jacuzzi bath we have ever had on holiday amazing ! Beach was fab and kept clean from seaweed the best they could do really. We chose this hotel for the location over Secrets Maroma Beach due to perhaps the chance to see Turtles and fish we saw only a few fish and no Turtles we did not do a paid tour. The pools are beautiful loved the quiet pool especially. After 10 days or so we got really fed up to be honest with the Pool DJ at 2pm with the sooooooo loud music heard on the beach and the quiet pool even. This would put us off returning tbh. My favourite meal was breakfast we always sat outside at the Market Cafe. My husbands favourite Lunch Market Cafe. After reading the reviews are we the only couple who struggled with evening meals?! we felt most of the time beautifully presented meals but for us way to rich. We preferred the Barefoot Grill Evening ate there 3 times. Bordeaux the first time we ate there was fab the second time not so good perhaps a different Chef?. We enjoyed Portofino but service was very very slow. We did not enjoy Mimitsu and came out of there to eat in the coco cafe. i also did not enjoy the Greek more work needs to done there no atmosphere even though they had a belly dancer. i enjoyed doing lots of activities every day thank you. Thank you Carlos, Carla, Gino. A big shout out to Rene and Abraham thank you so much for making every day fun. Water Spinning Aqua Gym Spinning Aqua aerobics ( sorry too easy needs work) Gym Circuit Training was so hard wow The best beach waiters Ana and Basilio thank you. The best beach Butler ALEJANDRO exceptional service !!! give him an award The most funniest and best waiter goes to Santiago please keep him working in the Preferred lounge! Would we return no this is due to the distance from Cancun airport but we would like to do another Secrets holiday Maroma. Thank you to Jose our Concierge Mejia building 4. We really enjoyed the theatre shows Rock night is so much fun . Improvement needs doing with the lobby bar music we come to Mexico to hear Latin and Mexican music but thank you. PS the customs at Cancun are putting off returning guests due to corrupt and often bullying tactics lots of guests complaining not the hotels fault but they need to know why people may not return to Mexico.

the best of the best
We have stayed in several very good 5 star hotels in mexico but Secrets Akumal is certainly the icing on the cake. It is without doubt the pinnacle of holiday perfection, the rooms are fabulous, the three pools give enough variation to suit everyone and the beach is so picturesque. The food in every restaurant was exceptional and the daytime and evening barbecues were sensational. It is always a problem trying to remember the names of all the excellent staff, but our concierge Leidy in block 4 was the most wonderful, helpful and delightful young lady it was our pleasure to meet. We cannot wait to return.

Great Luxury Vacation in Akumal - The Secrets is out.
Secrets Akumal is a fantastic adults only, all inclusive resort. Great location, beautiful beach, turtles just off shore and beautiful, highly maintained facilities make this a dream vacation. Each of the 9 hotel buildings have a concierge so you get the best possible attention and service. Our concierge, Fernanda was great, she knew everybody's name, always ready to help. We had upgraded to the Premiere Club which was worth it. It gets you preferred seating looking out at the ocean, but you still have to get up early a lay down a couple of towels to claim one of the better loungers. Down on the beach, there is beach attendant, very friendly and professional, as well as a food and drink attendant - they all work hard, very friendly and ready to meet your needs. With Premier Club, you also can have breakfast at the Seaside Restaurant where you can order food instead of always going to the buffet. Service is fantastic. Plus, nearby, there is the Special Premier room where you can just relax and have a free cocktail or two or three. The Infinity pool is where most of the pool activities take place. There is a great swim up bar, where you can sit and sip a cocktail. And then there are activities within the pool as well as near the pool. The Restaurants are excellent - I thought Oceana was the best with its fresh fish. But the other themed restaurants were very good. Probably only the newly opened Greek restaurant did not hit the mark. Wine selection was okay (they are the same in each restaurant), the house wines were all from Chile but you could upgrade to higher end wine, but with at least three times the value price. There are plenty of activities: one tip - when playing beach volleyball, there is coral in the sand, so don't dive after the volleyball or you can get some bad abrasions. The nighttime shows are entertaining - they are at the level of a moderate priced cruise ship. Overall, a great experience. Hyatt has done it well.
