Amazing anniversary trip!
We had an amazing 6 day anniversary trip! We enjoyed incredible food, the beautiful beach and relaxing pools. We chose not to do any tours but still saw turtles, rays and many colorful fish snorkeling right off the beach. I was worried about an aggressive unlimited club sales pitch during check in after reading reviews but Teresa from the VIP services was very friendly and welcoming and helped orient us with features of the resort. She set the tone for the rest of our trip. Every staff member we encountered was extremely kind and helpful. I was blown away at how many of the staff didn't only recognize us during our stay but even remembered our name. A few extraordinary staff members stood out: Karina, our concierge, was particularly thoughtful and treated us to several sweet anniversary gifts and surprises. She made our stay so very memorable. Antonio at the beach and pool always greeted us with a smile and was informative about the day's activities and helped with umbrellas. Hector served us at the beach and pool--that man was always on the move helping someone! A few servers made our meals feel extra special: Fernando at Himitsu, Rafael at Bordeaux, Diego at Portofino, and Otonel at Market Cafe. We met the Market Cafe manager, Eliazar, for lunch our first day after many hours of travel. He was so warm and welcoming and remembered us each day afterwards at breakfast. Many happy wishes and blessings on your recent wedding, Eliazar! There are many others we'd thank if we knew their names. Secrets Akumal is a wonderful resort with gorgeous grounds but their staff are the real gems. We'd gladly return!

Applause for Akumal
This was only my second trip to Cancun and my first time at Secrets Akumal. From the moment that we arrived, we were warmly greeted and felt right at home. Our building concierge, Billie, was so very friendly and helpful. Our room was well appointed and cleaned with much care. While enjoying the beautifully maintained pools, we were waited on by so many cheerful and efficient servers…Samuel, Antonio, Reuben & David. They all couldn’t do enough to help us! My favorite activities were the water bikes and pool aerobics. I wish that the aerobics would have been offered every day not just the first two days that I was there. Fortunately the water bikes were a daily activity! My husband really enjoyed the pool volleyball and wished, though, that it could have been better timed…a one o’clock start really interfered with lunch especially since lunch service started at 12:30 pm. The entertainment staff were so much fun with which to interact…especially Max, Myra, Carla, and Alejandro. I especially enjoyed the salsa making class with Alejandro! Of all of the restaurants, my favorite was Portifino…we went twice! The food was so delicious and our waiter, Raul, was excellent. He really made the meal extra special! Thanks, Akumal, for a great vacation!

Beyond expectations
We spent eight wonderful days celebrating our anniversary at Secrets Akumal, and the resort exceeded even our highest expectations. The grounds are stunning, featuring a thoughtfully designed and meticulously maintained variety of fauna. Alexandra, our room concierge, ensured we were always well-informed and had every need taken care of. Juan and David, the pool and beach concierges, went above and beyond, assisting with even the smallest details to enhance our experience. Cruz, Ismail, and Samuel, our pool waiters, kept the drinks and food coming, adding to our enjoyment. The entertainment staff excel at engaging guests and encouraging participation in activities. A special shoutout goes to Alejandro, Alex, Ari, Carlos, Liz, and Myra—you all made our visit truly memorable. During our stay, we took part in the bike tour to Akumal, pool bike, aqua strong, pool volleyball, guacamole and salsa making, and tequila tasting. We were lucky to be there on Earth Day and loved the prehistoric culture pop-up show at the pool. This unique event was such a hit with us and other guests that it would be a fantastic regular addition to the activities. The snorkeling was incredible, and the beach was not only beautifully maintained but also very swimmable. Several coral reefs are easily accessible from the shore, offering a diverse array of fish to observe. Akumal is just a five-minute walk down the beach, providing opportunities for guided tours of the turtle sanctuary.

Beautiful place and incredible people!!!
My fiancé and I just spent a week at this resort and had the most incredible time! We were absolutely blown away by the food, drinks, property, and the activities. However, what really stood out was the staff. The staff at this resort were truly some of the nicest people we have ever met and always made us feel so welcomed. They made the place feel very peaceful but also energetic and fun. Everyone was always willing to help or go above and beyond to make our stay better. Our concierge Ricardo was amazing and was a great help in navigating the resort. He even had chocolate covered strawberries and champagne delivered to our room to celebrate our recent engagement. Also the activity staff were fantastic! They did a great job at encouraging guests to participate in games and also just made sure everyone was feeling happy! Our favorites were Liz, Carlos, Alejandro, Max, and Isabel, but everyone was amazing! We would absolutely recommend this place to all of our family and friends and hope to be able to return again sometime soon!
