  The best place to go during the dreary winters

  Our fifth year in a row to spend time at this extraordinary place. It's not only the place, it's the people. Specifically, a shout out to: Delmer, Ivan, and Miguel in Activities, Portofino waiter Christian, Market buffet waiter Lionel, Preferred club pool waiter Prospero, Preferred Club pool concierge Maria. The activities are fun, the place is immaculate, and we can't wait to get back next year.

  Excellent service and hospitality!  We really enjoyed the ambiance, food, and overall vibe.  We are foodies and have a pretty high bar. After reading the other reviews our expectations we were a little unsure of what to expect. The first meal was Italian and wow did it impress. The food from breakfast buffet to nice restaurants to random pop up taco bars and wood fired homemade pizza stand poolside were all overall good!  There are always gonna be a few misses but there were even more that exceeded our expectations.   The grounds and architecture are outstanding. Each day we noticed more stunning details. The hospitality was top notch!  9 out of 10 of the staff were the best of the best in the hospitality business. The majority really want to make your vacation perfect and memorable.  Rooms/Beds: We had the garden view and were really pleased. They try to get you to upgrade but the regular rooms were really really nice. Room cleaning staff is phenomenal. In the upper floors you could still see the ocean even though it’s not in any of the descriptions for this type of room. Our biggest complaint was the bed. It was really hard (think futon with a blanket on top) and I couldn’t sleep the first night. The next morning I asked them to soften it and they made a lame attempt to put a layer of bedspread under the sheet. That didn’t help at all. They should have some memory foam on hand for these types of issues. Sleep is one of the most lovely parts of vacation. After another complaint they did bring another bed and it solved the problem. I was so impressed with their effort and willingness to solve the problem even though it took a couple attempts.  One negative for us is that the indoor spaces were too cold, including our room. At this hotel it’s not easy to adjust the temp of your room. You can get it colder but not warmer. So do bring a jacket, sweaters, shawls, slippers, etc for these situations.  Fishing: My husband booked a fishing trip through someone in town/marina. The hotel was very generous and offered to cook some of it up one night (for a small fee) and then freeze the remainder of the fish for us to take home.  We are big fans of cruising and staying in this resort reminded us of a luxury cruise with inclusive food, drinks, and relaxation.  We were happily never asked to join a timeshare presentation even one time which was appreciated. We would love to come back here one day.

  Couples birthday celebration

  Returned yesterday from a 5 day stay at Secrets. Our group was 5 couples celebrating 50th birthdays. Overall a fantastic experience and definitely would consider staying here again. Service was mostly good to great. Juan, Leo and Lizette took great care of us with poolside service. Delmar from the entertainment team is THE BEST! Any chance to do an activity with Delmar, take it. Axel from the entertainment crew was also awesome. Restaurant staff was solid. We did a bike ride to the marina with Delmar which was fun and then a city tour with tequila and chocolate tastings that was great. We had a standard ocean view room. It was spacious, comfortable and clean. Some friends got swim up suites and generally thought it wasn’t worth the extra cost. Nobody upgraded to the premium club or whatever it’s called and we didn’t feel like we missed out on anything. Pool and hot tub were great. There was some shenanigans with people going out to reserve poolside chairs very early in the morning but we still found space for our group of 10 to be comfortable. There is access to the beach from the resort but they ask that you avoid going in the water. The food was good but not great. We thought the best food was the spread they put out for a Super Bowl party. Wings, tacos, ribs, brisket and a lot more. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was fine. I’d recommend the omelet station. The dinners were mostly just okay, no dishes or restaurants stood out as being excellent. We were not able to get reservations at the Teppanyaki restaurant. I’d leave 4.5 stars if that was an option with my only “complaint” being with the food being just okay.

  Italian food and the best vacation

  This place is truly unbeatable . The help is fantastic and the experience is next to the best I’ve had yet Italian is for sure the Best of the restaurants Alberto and Vladimir truly made us feel welcome Be back here for sure , however I will skip the spa next time . First time was great , second time was blah

  Come see Delmar

  Highly recommend any event Delmar does. The rest of the staff are amazing.. but Delmar will make you laugh so hard. The resort is immaculately kept, and all the staff are super helpful.
