    Great food and amazing service!

We husband and I recently stayed here for 6 days. We had an amazing time. The food is fantastic! There is so much to choose from at every meal. We never made it to the restaurants but the buffet was always delicious. Owen was our favorite waitstaff. He has an awesome beer trick! The beach is beautiful and we never had a hard time finding a good spot. The staff on the beach was always helpful finding shade and bringing chairs. There’s a good snorkel spot right off shore- not the best on the island but easy and fun! The hotel staff are fun and friendly. We felt very welcomed. The hotel is in a great spot and there is good shopping and dining nearby. The rooms are in need of updating which surprised me a little, but the bed was very comfortable and we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room anyway! Plus it was very clean. The lobbies and pool bars are all very nice. My only complaint is the pool closing at 7pm. That’s too early! I wanted to spend all the daylight at the beach and swim in the evening but the pool closed at sunset. It is for this reason that I would consider another hotel should I ever come back to Aruba. Everything else at this hotel was wonderful but the pool closing at 7 was very disappointing.

    Holiday

Stayed here this September 2019. The hotel is a little dated but have heard that it is getting a refurbishment within 2yrs. Even though the hotel was very clean amid service was excellent, food was excellent especially the a la cart restaurants bar staff always attentive if you wanted premium drinks you had to ask for them otherwise you got local drinks. The pool area was always clean and beds out ready for use also the beach was only a few steps away. I would recommend a holiday here

    Arubadercci!

First trip to Aruba will not be my last! I know there have been mixed reviews for this Hotel but my friend and I found it to be just as we had hoped. Welcoming us with a glass of champagne, the staff continued to be as helpful and kind for the remainder of our stay. We especially enjoyed Luis’ warmth and friendliness at the bar and Daphne added an extra touch to our room each day. Yes, there are people who wake up early to hold a spot on the beach but if you like to sleep in you will still find spots to put a chaise in sun or shade. There are many choices for pools as the Riu Antillas has a sister hotel 10 steps away that has been refurbished quite beautifully. Please check out both sites. But who needs a pool when the Caribbean waters are so awesome! There is no shortage of food choices and we chose to eat at the buffet each day. For those who question whether this is a 5 star hotel - I think it is as much about what each of us brings within ourselves as we travel this world as it is what we find when we arrive. Here in Aruba at the Riu, I hope you found what my friend and I did- pure joy! Happy Birthday BTF!

    Great Beach & Service

The location is prefect for relaxing the sand is white and soft (at the ocean) its a little rocky between the hotel and the water line so be prepared. Its also super Windy not a little like a lot its the equivalent of being sand blasted at times. The hotel is super out dated and very tired to the point that it can't be cleaned or repainted enough. I understand from the Sunwing Rep that this Riu was scheduled for a renovation next year. My recommendations is spend the few hounded more stay at the sister RIU resort next door that is completely modern. The food how ever is incredible. Breakfast and Dinner were the highlights.I did not find the Steak House anything to write home about but did it as everyone else did. The Italian wasn't bad and my other half is a hard core Italian and he didn't complain (he didn't have pasta either) The seafood is amazing so I would recommend you try. The Staff is super friendly and don't seem to treat you any different if you tip or do not tip (expect for the staff behind the bar @ the pool if you don't tip its like being in a bar in Vegas)

Don’t do it - please read and beware of positive reviews

I’ve visited this property previously and due to a special group event - had no choice but to return. I didn’t want to be the difficult person when booking because everyone wanted the adults only. First, if you’re a beach person, want a seat on the beach or shade .. good luck. I woke up almost everyday at 6am to get a seat and the same situation at the pool. This hotel really needs to realize that as travellers we come for the beach and the pool. Build more umbrellas and arrange more options for your guests. There are swarms of people starting at 6am waiting.. sitting in the sand. The pool is filthy especially the pool bar. The filtration system doesn’t work and the poor staff has to continuoisly clean it during the day with a net. Alcohol options are 0. No name alcohol and some really bad tasting booze with no actual labels. A few people in our group wound up buying bottles off the resort. Specialty restaurants - they say first come first serve. At 630 there’s people lined up at every restaurant, and If they’re not in line they’re charging and pushing to get out of elevators to get a spot in line. By 7-730 there are no seats. Pool is swamped with chairs - there’s no space .. you can touch the person sitting next to you, unintentionally hear convos, inhale their smoke all day long. Last time I was in the villa which was bad but this time in the tower .. wowwww. Falling apart. Locked out of our balcony three times .. due to the rust in the door lock. Everything from the shower, the beds, the mirrors, carpets in the hall .. are falling apart You can hear toilets flushing, shower going, tv - walls are paper thin. Most rooms are connecting.. and there’s a large space under the door. If they have their tv or lights on .. you’re room all of a sudden that’s lights and can hear everything from the next room No bottled water - room limit it three a day. Even if you ask for another bottle of water .. it won’t happen. You have to wait to the next day. The other tourists that travel to this resort and say it’s amazing and great is quite fascinating to me. Possibly they haven’t stayed at actual 5 star resorts?? If you’re reading this and are debating.. please read the positive reviews and see where else the “good reviewers” have stayed because there’s no way this a 5 star. Bartenders and servers work very hard and are super friendly. Entertainment staff socialize with each other for a large portion of the day and could care less about tourists.
