After a month away from Cocos we decided to write a little review about this little paradise hotel. The welcoming is wonderful after such a long flight, but once you get to see how beautiful Cocos you end up with a jaw dropping moment and goose bumps as to how beautiful it is. The room we had was halfway up the hill, its steep but the further you go up the more intense the views are, we loved sleeping with the sounds of the waves gently lapping against the rocks and waking up to the little birds tweeting on our balcony. The bedroom, bathroom and outdoor showers are so rustic but kept absolutely spotless by the maids. Having no TV no problem at all, if anything a bonus, it just led to me time for the two of us. The restaurant was set on the side of the hill and breakfast, lunch and dinner were all absolutely delicious, it was lovely having no buffet and everything was cooked to perfection and served by everyone with a smile. We thought we may struggle with just one restaurant but the way Cocos changes the menu every day was perfect, and with three different seating areas it was never a problem, even the little cats were so friendly too, even the one we nicknamed boris was the most polite little cat. You don't need to do any reservations, so if you want a drink or too before dinner at the bar, then you can, everything is so relaxed here. Both beaches are perfect and kept spotless too, both bars were well stocked and the service was perfection. The frozen margarita was possibly the best we have ever tasted. The sea really is that colour that you see in the photos. So if you want a little rustic, different, beautiful quiet place then this is for you. One thing we both promised to ourselves is that we will definitely return to little Cocos. Obviously Covid 19 is happening, so stay safe Cocos and huge love to all your staff you really do make Cocos so special xxxx
Traumurlaub - Amazing Spot In Caribbean Sea
We love this spot. There is nothing to complain, very nice cottages with stunning views, excellent food, attentive staff, beautiful open restaurant area above the sea, nice beaches,... We booked a sunset view cottage (19) for 6 nights and we enjoyed our stay very much. Since Mr Trump decided by sudden not to allow us to immigrate into US again until 14days staying outside Germany we even had to extend our stay for another 6 days. We could keep our room and got even discount. We highly appreciated the support of the management. Thanks again and best regards to all Cocos Team Members! Stay safe and all the best for the time after Coronavirus! Heike & Gerhard
Everything I Wanted
I did a lot of research to find exactly what I wanted. I knew I could not get this at a 3 star property and succumbed to paying more. It was so worth it. Sunset beach is awesome. Steve the bartender will play party music if u want. We danced with all the fun people we met from all over the world! Quite was good too. U will be approached by vendors, deal only with Peter. Staff was great providing anything we wanted. No plastic furniture, classy but laid back fresh food all u want, not a buffet. DJ on occasion, one man fire show, island band one night and some nights quite. Four poster bed and late breakfast. Be prepared to walk steep hill to your villa or ask for golf cart ride. Can’t wait to come back!
My husband and I just returned from a 5 day stay at Cocos and we could not have had a better time! Starting with our cab driver Joyce, who makes an excellent rum punch as your welcome to the island, or, has a cold Wadadli for those who prefer an excellent local beer. She also wasn’t afraid to give you a scenic, if not a little heart-skipping back roads drive to the resort. Once we arrived it was even more beautiful than any pictures we’d seen. The ladies at reception were wonderful and extremely accommodating to a few schedule changes we made on the spot. The gentleman who showed us to our room gave a great tour of the resort along the way. We ordered the Celebration package for my birthday and when we arrived at our room there were rose petals, delicious appetizers, and a cold bottle of champagne waiting for us. Then, the view! Our room, number 39, was at the far end of the resort directly over the beach bar. Our plunge pool gave us stunning views of the beach and ocean and since we were at the end was also semi-secluded. It was a hike to get there but definitely worth it! Cocos offers three meals a day from your choice on the menu- no buffet food here! We didn’t have one bad meal and the portions were perfect, but if you were still hungry you could order more. They also have snacks available all day if you’d rather stay at the beach instead of going to the restaurant for lunch or if you needed something to tide you over until dinner. They offer evening entertainment several nights a week in the main lounge, where most guests would meet after dinner. Since it’s not a large resort we never felt crowded and everyone we met was so nice! Part of the Celebration package also included a couples massage- Patricia was wonderful- and a private beach dinner. Bernadette was our server this evening and she went out of her way to make ours a wonderful experience! We had a separate menu to choose from and I think there were at least 4 courses. The main chef brought down our dessert so we were able to tell him directly how wonderful the food was! One tip, if you do the beach dinner be sure to apply bug spray liberally on your feet and legs! You don’t feel the sand fleas biting you until the next day! We did two excursions. The first was with Peter on his 4-man catamaran sail boat. We met him on the beach and he took us and another couple we met at the resort out on a one and a half hour trip. It was awesome and only $70 per couple. He’ll include a bottle of champagne and a fun harness ride for the ladies. Definitely find Peter! The second excursion was the Xtreme Adventures Island tour, which we booked through the front desk. It’s an all-day speed boat tour around the entire island with several stops along the way. The first was a stop to swim with the giant sting rays and a quick snorkel if you’re interested. The next stop was a beautiful, private island for a delicious lunch and dip in the ocean. The third stop was snorkeling at the Pillars of Hercules or a rum punch for those not snorkeling. The final stop was another beautiful private beach for another dip in the ocean and more rum punch and dessert. They also took us through English Harbour and gave a very informative dialogue on the history of the island throughout the whole trip. Our hosts were excellent and very well-informed! Another excursion that was definitely worth it but you’ll be wiped out afterward! All of the staff at Cocos were wonderful and went out of their way to accommodate whatever you might need. The resort is beyond beautiful and we were so sad when it was time to leave! Two FYIs- 1. They provide bug spray in the rooms and make sure you use it. The sand fleas are brutal! 2. They do accept the USD but are very particular about larger bills. If there are any rips or tiny tears they cannot accept them and this is island-wide, not limited to Cocos. I would recommend converting if you can. Be sure to tip the staff. They deserve it! Patrick and Jennifer Room 39
Beautiful sunsets and amazing water
This was our third trip to Antigua and our first stay at Cocos Hotel. We booked a sunset pool cottage and saw amazing sunsets all but one night due to weather. The Valley Church beach was quiet and the water was an incredible color as far as you could see. The additional tourists from cruise ships were not a concern at all. We had great views of Nevis and Montserrat. The food was great and the drinks were even better. You MUST try the old fashioned Rum Punch with nutmeg and the Painkiller. The cottage was cozy, well maintained, and the outdoor shower is a real treat. Walking to the cottage every day was good exercise. The hotel website is very straightforward about access to cottages, so if you have concerns before booking you can speak with them directly and they will be happy to answer your questions. Staff were friendly, helpful and engaging. We loved being welcomed by Lorraine every morning at breakfast, Shereen made awesome Painkillers at the hotel bar at lunch, and Charisse made our evening meal a delight. Stephen and Omario kept our drinks flowing and fresh at the beach bar. Our last night ended with music and dancing with the staff - we got a small taste of what Carnival in Antigua is like! When we return (and we will return) I will ask Charisse for some dancing lessons! All in all, a fantastic trip. Every day was awesome.
