Fun week at all inclusive
We had a fun week at the Now Amber resort vacationing with another couple. We watched the SuperBowl from the lobby and it was great to see the ocean and enjoy the warm weather during the game instead of the cold weather we are used to. We stayed in a preferred room on the 7th floor through our UVC membership. We had a nice view and the lounge and bar were very convenient. The food/snacks in the lounge were very good and the service at the bar was outstanding. Overall the food at the restaurants and the buffet was very good and the service we received from everyone at the resort was wonderful. The entertainment team did a great job with all the different activities throughout the day. Their energy and enthusiasm was especially appreciated on the couple of days when the weather wasn't so nice. The only drawbacks to this resort is the beach area is not very nice compared to other places we have been and they expect you to pay a daily access fee if you want to go hang out on the other side of the resort. That is a Secrets resort which is adults only.
Really nice All Inclusive Hotel
We stayed in the Now Amber from 5th – 12th Feb. We booked an All Inclusive Package through First Choice and travelled with TUI. We booked for my 30th birthday celebrations. We chose the Now Amber due to the great reviews on here and the location. The hotel was around a 15 minute transfer from the airport to the hotel, although when we arrived we seemed to be sat outside the front gates which are manned waiting for the hotel to let the coach in for around another 15 minutes! On arrival our bags were taken off the coach by the bell boys and popped to one side, at this point we weren’t sure whether we were supposed to go straight to the reception desk or grab our bags. We waited near our bags and the bell boys took our name and tagged our bags. We had booked to stay in the Preferred Tower, the bell boys had this on their paperwork and called for someone to take us straight to the Preferred Tower Check-In Desk (we were not aware there was a separate check in so this was a pleasant surprise to be ushered off) Check In was quick and easy and we were shown to our room promptly. Our room was lovely with a nice sea view (side view – we were in room 1371) the room was huge and had a good size balcony too. Everything you needed was provided in the room such as complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, coffee machine and the minibar with plenty of bottles of water. There was a King Size Bed (which was not x2 beds pushed together so no annoying gap in the middle) dressing table, huge sideboard, x2 sinks in the bathroom area, bath and a huge shower. Plenty of wardrobe space. Housekeeping cleaned our room each day and changed bedding when requested (had to leave a card on the pillow to request this) Staff at the hotel were all extremely friendly and provide a good service in the restaurants and bars with table service for drinks. The only grumble we had about our experience was the constant upsell the staff would try and do. At first we thought when the lady called us over at the VIP desk that she was being helpful as she was giving us some info about the hotel she then quickly proceeded to tell us that if we went to an hours ‘welcome talk’ over breakfast or lunch we would get a freebie such as so money towards a trip or a free massage or beach cabana for the day. We were really not interested in this because who gives away something for nothing?! We had to say several times we did not want to attend then every staff member at the hotel seemed to come up to us after this to try and get us to attend one, they really do push it and it becomes very tedious. My husband had been in touch with the hotel before our trip to let them know it was my birthday and he was advised they would sort something for us in the room but there was nothing in the room on arrival. My husband did bring his own banners etc so decorated the room. I thought maybe when they saw these this would prompt them to leave a little something. We also did tell the VIP services near reception that we were there to celebrate my birthday, the lady wrote it down but nothing came of it. I don’t expect anything but when you have been told that something would be done for arrival and it isn’t it’s slightly annoying (also the room next door to us had a banner on that the hotel had done) The buffet restaurant (Carnival) we had no complaints with, food very nice. Drinks to the table, staff very attentive in clearing plates and topping drinks up. Good choice of food and all replenished quickly. Never seemed that busy in the restaurant. We tried all the A La Carte restaurants apart from the Italian and we enjoyed them all, it was nice to have a choice on where to go on an evening. My favourite was the Japanese restaurant, the food was so good in there! There was also the poolside snack bar open most of the day serving pizza/burgers/chips etc, not great quality but handy when you are around the pool for the day. Drinks all really nice, good cocktails and a choice of wines available. There is a taxi rank outside the hotel, the bell boys call them up to the entrance for you. Taxi’s are really cheap! We used one to get to the port for a boat trip and used one to get to the Malecon. Both of these were around 10/15 min ride from the hotel. We hired a beach cabana for the day which included a bottle of nice champagne and lunch brought to us, the waiter we had for the day could not do enough for us (cannot remember how much we paid for this but it wasn’t cheap!) We really enjoyed our stay at Now Amber and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the Puerto Vallarta area.
Best All Inclusive
We stayed 11 nights at Now Amber as one couple, teenager daughter, and adult friend. We were greeted by friendly staff, a glass of bubbly and allocated 2nd floor rooms which had a gorgeous view of the ocean plus 1 floor up for reception and 1 floor down for pool, restaurants and beach. Saw breaching whales from the poolside three times. Everything here is relaxed and totally focused on the customer. No silly rules. Eat and drink when and where you like - fabulous Italian, Japanese teppanyaki, Mexican and high quality buffet at Carnival. All staff were consistently polite, friendly and helpful. Entertainment staff - Jesus, Mario, Aldo, Rodrigo, Omar and others were energetic and made my teenage daughter’s holiday - ‘best holiday ever’ as she described it! Adults can use facilities at Secrets where poolside food and the coffee shop have much better food and drink, although Coco Cafe in Now is open 24/7. Room was spacious, very clean ( as was everywhere) with daily maid service and a balcony that sucked up the sun. Poolside activities v enjoyable- personally tried beach volleyball, hoopla, table tennis and water volleyball. Offer loads more and something for everyone. Evening shows are full of colour, dancing and good music. Top tip: take a thermal cup to keep your mimosas cold in the hot sun.
Best Hotel and Staff in Puerto Vallarta
My wife and I have visited Now Amber three times and this is the first review I have written, but should've done so sooner! Hotel Location is a 10 out 10 and the views from the room overlook Banderas Bay and you can see whales and dolphins almost daily during February. The staff are all so welcoming and attentive, but there were two employees that always went above and beyond. Antonio and Oliver at the Carnival buffet remembered us from our previous trips here and always made sure we had everything that we needed. They truly treated us like we were family and took the time to connect with us and ask about our family and opened up about their lives outside of the hotel. If you are looking for a great hotel with the best staff. Do not look further!
Trip away from cold and snow !!
Truly an amazing place so worth the trip. Great location to down town and old town either by walking, bus or taxi. Breath taking views from the balcony of room. Restaurants and bars had great food and top shelf drinks. Customer service was five star like the whole resort was five star. Teresa and Carmen along with so many others staff helped out in any way possible. Excellent customer service. Amber Now is with Secrets (Amber Now is family side and Secrets is adult side). Even thou we had now kids staying on Amber Now side was not an issue we just went back and forth between the two sides. I highly recommend both Amber Now and Secrets as my top choice for an all inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta !!!
