Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica
We booked our stay at the Dreams Las Mareas Costa Rica through Briana Quintin from Unlimited Vacation Club. We received a fantastic rate (under $200 per night for our whole family of 2 adults and 2 kids age 11 and 8, all inclusive). This included $30 per night for resort fees but did not include airfare or airport transfers which were substantial since the resort is located 1 hour and 20 minutes from Liberia airport. The resort itself exceeded our expectations. Our standard room (called a Jr. Suite) was jungle view and had a soaking tub outside on our balcony, however the water was not very hot and there were no jets. On our tour we saw larger soaking tubs with jets in more expensive and larger Master Suites and above. You don’t have to wear any wristbands and no reservations are needed at the specialty restaurants, which were both firsts for us at all inclusives. Only the teppanyaki portion of the Japanese restaurant needed reservations. The food at the buffet restaurant (World Cafe) was good, and it was even better at the specialty restaurants including Oceana (seafood), Himitsu (Japanese), El Patio (Mexican), and Portofino (Italian). Portofino is adults only inside but you can eat there with kids at one of the limited number of outside tables. There are many swimming pools for kids, families, and adults, and it was never crowded and we could always find a lounge chair at any pool or at the beach. We think it may be because this resort is normally more expensive than comparable all inclusives (but worth it) and also because it is so isolated that only resort guests would be able to use the resort’s pools and beach. The beach itself is in a protected cove with no other resort in sight, with virtually no waves. The sand is dark brown so do not expect a white sand beach. Dreams promotes its Unlimited Luxury all inclusive experience which includes no wristbands, restaurant reservations or room service charges. The minibar in your room is restocked every day with no charge. Wi-fi is free and strong (another rarity at all inclusives). They even have a coffee shop (Coco Cafe) that serves free coffee type drinks and desserts including ice cream. In order to get our great room rate we had to attend a 2-hour promotional tour of the resort to try to get us to buy in to become members. It was low pressure and they accepted our polite no the first time. The only negative was that we were bitten by mosquitoes every day, so bring your bug spray!
I had a wonderful time at the Dreams Las Mareas in Costa Rica, staff, food, all very good, I would highly recommend this Hotel. The Hotel was very secluded, in a lush green semi rain Forrest. It rained, but due to climate, not a cold rain, but room temperature rain. I would highly recommend
Beautiful Resort and Very Clean
We visited Dreams in Costa Rica for the first time. The grounds were beautiful. The attendents were very helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and very clean. The public bathrooms were emaculate through out the resort. The fruit in the cafe was the best I have had at an all-inclusive. The food choices were ok. I would have liked to have had more vegetarian option. One con, there were not enough signs to direct us from place to place. The first night we were there, the grounds were very dark and we got lost trying to get from point A to point B. There were minimal signs and no lights. They need to add lights along the path and signs at every turn. The beach is not appealing for swimming. But the pools are beautiful and there are many to choose from. The weather was rainy on and off but Dreams has umbrellas every where for the guest. I thought that was a nice touch. The entertainment should be posted or announced more. We never knew what was going on and never saw any of the shows. When it was time to leave, we called and spoke to one attendant about getting help with our bags. No one came and we were running out of time so we dragged out bags across the resort to the checkout ourselves. Maybe we should have scheduled a pick-up before it was time to go. Overall, it was a very relaxing vacation. .
Beautiful hotel and great staff
We visited Dreams for a 2 week holiday as well as having our wedding here, and overall we had a superb holiday, wedding and honeymoon. On arrival the hotel had no record of our booking, which after a journey of 22 hours was a little annoying, we made a number of phone calls and eventually this was sorted out. There had been some sort of communication breakdown between our agent and the hotel, but it didn't spoil anything for us. We were shown to our room, which was a preferred room with an ocean view, the rooms are OK, but are a little dated, but nothing to complain about. As it was late we ordered food from room service and it came at the exact time which was stated when ordering. The food was nice and was served with a smile. We visited all of the restaurants while we were there and loved all of then apart from he Mexican which wasn't as nice as the others. We thought that the food in the main buffet was good, and we were never short of something to eat or drink. The grounds are beautiful, and the pools were not overcrowded or noisy which was great for us when teaching our little girl to swim. The beach was a little disappointing, however the sunsets are absolutely beautiful. Our wedding was fantastic, and felt really special with just the 3 of us there, we were also given a breakfast in our room the next morning as well as a bottle of bubbly, which was a nice touch.I can highly recommend this place for a wedding, whether it be small like ours, or a much grander affair like some others had, there are a choice of venues and all are lovely. We found all of the staff to be friendly and efficient, and we visited the Co Co Cafe most mornings for some hot tea and nice pastries, and on an evening for ice cream. One thing we did feel let the place down a little was the entertainment, the dancers were OK, but it was all a little samey once you had seen a couple of shows. The hotel is also a long way from anywhere else, and this meant that any excursions required a long bus journey. I guess this isn't the fault of the hotel, but is something to bear in mind when booking here. There is also a kids club on site, but our daughter didn't want to try this, so we can't comment on that, but the children who were in there seemed to be having fun. There is also a fair bit of wildlife around the grounds, this includes monkeys, iguanas and other lizards, as well as many birds. We only saw one Racoon while we were there. I'd like to make people aware of the sales pitches from the holiday club rep's, they draw you in by asking if you have been given the free vouchers, and then you end up sitting in a sales pitch for 90 minutes before they try to sell you astronomically priced deals. Needless to say we didn't buy anything, although we did receive $400 for our trouble. We used this to pay for an excursion to the waterfalls. We used the referred club lounge most evenings, as it was good for us to relax before bedtime, although it was a little annoying that is closed at exactly 2200 each night, which we felt was a little early. I am pretty sure we will return here at one point, and I would highly recommend taking a look at Dreams if you want to visit Costa Rica, I am not sure why some reviews talk about unhelpful staff, this is certainly not something we witnessed.
We visited Costa Rica for the first time and stayed at Dreams Las Mareas last week. This resort is breathtaking! The views of the ocean , the infinity pools, mountains in the background , the lush landscaping cannot compare to anything I have seen before ! The employees from the time we arrived to the time we checked out were amazing ! A few notables , Russell, the concierge, Jeffery at entertainment booth and Connie, the bartender , located at the pool bar that was closest to the beach. Our room was the junior ocean view suite in building 5 , 7th floor had amazing views! The bed was great , the minibar was restocked daily , and the rain shower-head was amazing. We didn’t care for the toilet having a glass door and open at the top. Not very private. However , there was a convenient bathroom right down the elevator that never had anyone in it when I went. Other things to note: pay attention to when restaurants are opened and closed . Some restaurants are open till 3:30pm and they close until dinner at 6pm. This can leave you with eating at the snack bar in that lull. The snack bar was great though ! They have hot Buffett style food like hamburgers , hotdogs . You can also get a freshly made quesadilla , nachos if you wait in line for the cook to prepare. Restaurants: all portions in restaurants are small. At the Italian restaurants, I ordered the bruschetta and it was one piece. It was delicious though ! You can order as many appetizers , entrees , desserts as you want ! My boyfriend often ordered 2 entrees but no appetizer or dessert . I ordered appetizer , entree, and 2 desserts 😀! In the Japanese restaurant, the sushi roll consists of 4 pieces . I ordered 3 rolls and that was perfect . Note : I strongly recommend if you want to sit at the hibachi grill , you make reservations the very first night you arrive ! You might be able to get a seat 3 Days later 😳. We did not know this and were not able to ever get in. The World Cafe was amazing ! It’s all Buffett for breakfast , lunch , and dinner . We ate there for breakfast everyday and one night for dinner. The pools were awesome ! We loved the one right by the beach. Put your towels out early for a good seat. We’d get there around 8:15am. In the early afternoon we would switch to adults only pool for some peaceful relaxation time 🌴🍹. We did the sunset Kayak tour the last night we were there. You also need reservations for this and I suggest to go to entertainment booth your first day there to book because they may not have any spots available for a couple of days. If no one is at entertainment booth .. knock on the door there. Mauricio did our kayak tour and he was also super fun and great ! We felt so blessed and grateful to be able to stay at this beautiful resort in this beautiful country !
