I stayed at Sunscape Nov.12-Nov.19. This was my first time staying here and I was delightfully surprised at how lovely this resort is. I was greeted with a refreshing hibiscus drink and Gaby checked me in. I was warmly welcomed by her and Nelly, they were so friendly and happy to see me. My room was amazing, 16th floor ocean view. Bed was very comfortable and the room was super clean. The beautiful lady working at the little coffee shop made the best coffee drinks. The breakfasts were special due to the always smiling lady making the omletes and the service provided by Miguel, he would bring me a Mimosa and excellent attentive service every morning. I also want to thank Alberto the captain at the Grill. He was so kind and attentive and provided me with good recommendations. I had some delicious dinners there. I wish I could remember all the names of the staff that took such good care of me. The views are breath taking from the Grill restaurant and around the pool. I am definently planning on returning, this time I am bringing my family. I highly recommend Sunscape resort. Again thank you to the amazing Sunscape staff!
Just for the day
Hello everyone. During our recent trip, during which we stayed at the RIU Jalisco, we paid for day passes to the Sunscape resort ($80 USD for 9-5) to visit family that stayed there. You could definitely tell it was an older resort, with limited amenities like restaurants and space. Lots of families, but the kids all seemed to be having a blast. Restaurant staff refused to move our party to a bigger table when people unexpectedly joined us, and were rude about saying no which shocked me. There were a couple good options on the menu but mostly unremarkable, my meal was not worth it at all. The real issue was that I became very ill the next day. I don't know that it was due to visiting / dining at the sunscape or at the RIU but I ended up in the ER 4 days later. We never drink unsafe water and we are fully vaccinated. My husband got sick as well and our brother in law did too; he stayed at the Sunscape. You are closer to the action but it's a compact resort with lots of people. Also worth noting, their physical security is lacking. Patio doors have broken locks on ground floor and maintenance didn't know how to fix them. Family lost sleep over it. My hubby and I both agree we would never stay or visit there again.
Our honeymoon destination
I would like to say a big thank you to this resort hotel as it has been amazing. I would recommend upgrading to the sun club as they have premium alcoholic beverages and many snacks to have during the day, they also have free WiFi with an outside terrace and 2 lounge areas. It is located on floor 5. The cleanliness is top quality as the cleaners come in each day and clean to a high standard and also to the guy that refills our room refrigerator with drinks every day too. The staff members I would like to applause are victor the bartender, Erika- the bartender, Ramon-bartender and chef luis marciel these are only a handful of names I can recall but the staff are very friendly and helpful. The activities and entertainment are varied but no day is the same. Me and my newly wed husband love it that much we are thinking of booking again for next year. Thank you sunscape!! Amazing workers, property is poor.
We spent a few nights here after spending a week in old town. Figured might as well have all inclusive for the last few nights. We chose Sunscape because Secrets and Now were full up and we have always been impressed with the AM Resorts brands. This was not one of them though. I want to say that all the workers and servers that we came in touch with were very courteous and helpful. One in particular Ericka in the Sun Club bar was very good. Always a smile on her face and wanting to help. On that note if you are going to stay here. Get the Sun Club portion. You have the separate bar on the 5th floor and the dedicated chairs on the beach. The property itself needs a make over. It is an old property and not laid out very well. My suggestion is to work on it and make it the property that AM should be proud of.
A wonderful vacation
We had THE BEST vacation at Sunscape Puerto Vallarta. We have stayed at a number other resorts in the past. I would not hesitate to book my vacation at Sunscape again. Our room was located on the 18th floor. It had a huge balcony with a gorgeous view. The building itself requires a little TLC in some places; nothing alarming. But what makes this resort so special? The people! The staff is absolutely amazing. We had a hard time saying goodbye to our friend Erika who went out of her way to take care of us in Sun Club. Sun Club was a wonderful way to retreat from the heat. It also offered food and free wifi. This is where we met our sweet friend, Mario, who also took care of us in the lobby bar. Both Erika and Mario were friendly & fun! We loved hearing about their families. They were easy to laugh with as well. More than any other vacation we have ever taken we got involved in the resort activities. There was no shortage of activities going on throughout the day; cooking class, crazy games, volleyball, trivia, water polo. We met our good friend Marcos on our first day and had many wonderful conversations and laughs with him each day. We miss him already. We were satisfied by the food on the resort. There was food for everyone, including kids. Lots of variety in the buffet. The service at the buffet was always good. The a la carte restaurants were very nice. The food at the Mexican a la carte was good but the room itself was very hot. We loved the food at DeMario (the Italian restaurant)! Restaurant manager Alberto is a king! He made sure to check in with us many times throughout our meals. He even offered us a very special meal on one of our final nights. The meal was SunSational! Alberto’s team: Luis, chef Cintia and Raul were all amazing! We can’t thank them enough. We were always treated well by the bartenders and pool side wait staff. Our favourites were: Noe, Fransisco and Omar M. Noe is the first person we met at the resort. He was always fun to see everyday. He also pours a tasty margarita! Fransisco is so efficient, gracious and sweet. Omar M is so much fun, loves to dance and made our final moments at the resort very special with a goodbye treat. We can’t wait to see all of our friends again. Thank you so much. Gracias amigos.
