Theft ring - Take note and caution
The hotel has limited staffing and security. I had my watch stolen from my duffel while the hotel was holding it in the front desk's "secure" area a week ago. The hotel just refers the issue to their "corporate" "relevant" people who never followup and the hotel has refused to call the police. Take care about theft rings at this hotel and their desire to coverup abuse of the guests.
Ok to Good
Visited after visit to St Lucia. Maybe Barbados is more expensive island and we expected more from this hotel than Saint Lucia. Check was very good and we were late arriving, however food was provided and a drink. Very good. Breakfast was ok - also made use of the pack lunch service but did take a while (but was ok) Lunch was ok again Dinner at the A la Cart was good. The general dining area was good in the evening. There was entertainment but tended to finish a bit early for us. Beach was good- it had some strange looking beach chairs but worked well. Could walk a little way on beach but not over long. Overall staff ok but sometimes took longer to get served at pool bar but was ok. A couple of times with staff maybe they tired - saw one Customer ask for what I think was Chips and Dip - and came back with just the Dip - as they had ran out of chips - which they should have said in the beginning. Also pool ran out of a couple of basic things. Maybe this was an odd occurrence, but don’t think all staff were 100 pc At the hotel main bar I think the Jack Daniels seemed weak... however not the case at the pool bar and definitely not watered down. Cannot complain overall Beer was good. Also made use of the coffee shop and ice cream place. We had a room with a great view and was on the end and fourth floor - it was a lot of walking but help use some of the calories. Also could have done with more WC’s places around the place but was adequate Overall this hotel fell a bit short of expectations.
Great family hotel
Just back from 10 days stay at Turtle Beach with my family. 2adults 2 children 11 and 6 yrs. Great hotel with fantastic staff and well equipped facilities. Would definitely recommend. Just one small issue they need to resolve...sunbed reserving. I order to be able to see my young children safely in the pool we were having to go down at 5AM!!!!! To reserve our bed to make sure the kids were safe. This wasn't ideal and the hotel needs to stamp this out. Maybe towels only issued after 8am or something. We weren't the only families having issues with this. I hope they can rectify this as it's such a lovely hotel. A big thank you to Nigel on the reception as he was fantastic and looked after us very well.
My daughter and I stayed here for a few days and had a lovely stay. All the staff we met were so friendly and helpful. They took a genuine interest in what we had been up to. Our room was lovely, but maybe a little tired looking in certain places, e.g. the bath and shower and the wooden furniture. But a great room in itself with plenty of space and storage and a view to die for! We preferred to eat in Asiago restaurant in the evening . Food and service was very good. We ate in both of the other restaurants and the buffet style was fine for breakfast and lunch. Wide range of drinks available at the bars- lovely cocktail list! The lady in the Activities Centre was very helpful and arranged a last minute trip to swim with the turtles for later that morning. Excellent service. We did an early morning guided nature walk with one of the staff from the hotel- excellent. It was lovely to learn more about the plants and animals and walk around the local area. We were able to walk to the local supermarket but the prices were very high so I can understand why people go All inclusive.
Double Birthday Holiday (just)...
We booked this holiday 18 months ago on the advice from a Virgin Holidays Retail Travel Consultant in Abingdon who I contacted b phone (I know, how last century). I got a 50% discount by booking so far ahead in advance. Enough about the great Virgin Travel Consultants, the hotel is great, lots of amenities and the staff are very professional, courteous and friendly. Honestly, nothing is too much trouble. We had a incident with an overflowing toilet and before I got to reception to report it, they management had walked passed and the maintenance team were in the room when I got back. Top tips - talk to the water sports guys, they will arrange and set up sun beds on the beach for you. Note all beaches in Barbados are public, so you can take your towels and walk further up the beach to find the perfect swimming/surfing spot. Food is very good and snacks are available throughout the day at the snack shack. There is also the Dover Market just 3 minutes walk for all the things you think you have forgotten, sun lotion, after sun, flip flops, sun hats and things to keep on hand for hungry kids late at night.
