Great hotel for family with toddler!
We loved our stay at the Hyatt Regency Maui! We stayed in the Deluxe Ocean Suite, and we loved the extra space and incredible views. Our two-year-old son loved all the pools and had a blast visiting all the different birds on the property. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the dining options on the property -- the food was very tasty. Also, the location on the island is excellent, with great proximity to other activities. Definitely recommend!

Vacation was perfect.
Check in and checkout went smoothly. We were greeted with smiles. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. The hotel is clean and the grounds are beautiful.

Solid value for a beautiful resort
Overall, a good resort! I’ve been here twice with my family of four, and both times my kids loved it. Pros: *Good pools, mostly *Super fun water slides *Amazing views *Beautiful gardens and ambiance *Lots of charm from the birds and fish in lobby *Nice rooms *Good service *Recent “downgrade” in Hyatt tier status make this resort a great value right now Cons: *No kids club *They downgraded the pool recently by walling off what used to be a waterfall-cave that connected the two pool areas. The swim-through grotto and bar are both now gone, and the pool areas are separate and disjointed. This was seemingly done just to expand the 2nd floor patio area for the Japengo restaurant. As of late August 2025, the construction is about 90% complete. That is, the exterior wall is fully done, but they are still working on the interior of whatever the 1st floor former grotto space is turning into —I’d guess it’ll just be a bathroom, since it’s a windowless building. Again, why they’d want to locate a windowless cement monolith in a prime waterfront location mid-resort is a mystery, and feels like a mind boggling waste of this space. *pool chairs are hard to come by, and they don’t enforce the “active use only” rule. I generally tried to be at the pool by 8am to get a seat. I also wish they had more umbrellas. Many chairs go unused all day because they are out in the open with zero shade. Another dozen or so umbrellas would help a lot. Overall, a nice place. Overpriced drinks and crowded pool chairs are sort of par for the course for this sort of resort, so they aren’t deal breakers. It’s still great here, but it’s sad that if you had come just a few years ago you’d have seen both a much better pool area, and a much better beach (pre-erosion) as well.

Improve safety!
The hotel was clean and had beautiful views, plus we enjoyed seeing the penguins and parrots. However, there is a very serious safety concern. My father went down the slide, which ends in 9 feet of water. He is a capable swimmer but inhaled water, began coughing, and I had to pull him out. There should be a lifeguard at the bottom where the slide ends. This is very concerning, as not every guest can handle a deep water landing like that. A hotel of this size should have staff supervising, especially for children and older guests. Until safety measures are improved, I can only give 2 stars.

Halcyonic Honeymoon
My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and it was absolutely wonderful! Beautiful views, relaxing environment and they even had a penguin parade! Hyatt has exemplary customer service and is renowned for their hospitality. Food and beverages were absolutely delicious!
