    disappointed , very average

overall a disappointing stay. the main issue was the food, it was very repetitive and although being on an all inclusive package bottled water was charged at €2.50. we found the majority of the animation team were rude towards non french speakers, we were never asked to participate in activities and felt quite left out. during the evenings the shows were spoken in french only however these were sometimes entertaining and the dancing was always very good. one member of the animation team , sara , was very friendly and we enjoyed her company. one morning we went to find the bus stop to realise it was up a steep rocky hill with no real path, once at the top you entered a road with no path , we also heard from other guests the route to the beach was similar to this , would highly recommend getting a taxi. although staying in the peak of the summer we found the wind was still incredibly strong. the one positive of this hotel is the rooms. they were nice and spacious , had good air conditioning and were cleaned every day but the floor remained dirty the whole duration of our stay. the wifi also did not work from the rooms. i would not recommend this hotel unless you are a french speaker.

    Lovely

Lovely hotel, great food. Entertainment was mainly French and Spanish with the odd bit of English. Entertainment staff seemed nice but they seemed to interact more with the French and Spanish quests. Very isolated and more suited to couples, family if 3 or more and people who are willing to travel to other areas as I found it quite isolated. Lovely and picturesque but wouldn't go back to the same area.

    almost great

lovely hotel & great pools, shame about the intrusive French-focussed animations team that were loud & fairly obnoxious. If you want an evening drink in a bar area without the addition of high-school level musical theatre & shadow puppets this is not the place for you.

    Lovely Hotel But......

Alua holiday village is a nice hotel but has a few challenges. The good... Great views from the hotel, pool deck and from our room. Check in was quick, however, we were the only ones there on arrival so expected. Check out was easy, just gave them our key cards and that was it. The gym was great if that is something you want to do whilst on holiday, lots of well maintained equipment and clean. Pools were great. Our room was spacious and functional with a fridge, coffee machine, kettle and well stocked teas and coffees as well as water every day. The bathroom although a little dated as it still has a step over bath type shower was generally ok, not great though if you have mobility issues so make sure you request in advance as I believe these types of walk in showers are far and few between. The housekeeping team were great and our rooms were always attended to. Accessibility is very good with lifts and ramps all around the complex which is great for those with young children in pushchairs or those with mobility issues. The food was very good in the main restaurant and always had plenty of choice and was always hot. Animation team were not bad at all. In fact they were quite funny at times. Plenty of activities every day, but mainly targeted at the French audience. Didn't stop us getting involved and was impressed at how hard they work. The not so good.... The themed restaurant was pointless if I'm honest, a set menu which wasn't really explained by the booking team. The food was Luke warm and served far too quick. We arrived at 7:30pm by 7:55pm all courses had been served, the only reason we stayed longer was because we purchased a bottle of wine otherwise like others who were dining there, we would have been in and out in 30mins. Others popped in to the main restaurant afterwards as the portions were sparse and as it was a set menu not everything was to their taste. Indoor pool bar staff were like lord Lucan! One minute they were there the next they were gone for ages. They were also a little less welcoming at times, like they were doing you a favour, personally I found them quite rude at times. The green effort, although commendable doesn't quite do it. No segregation of food waste, plastics etc. But they insist on giving you a plastic cup to drink from. The pool deck certainly for our first few days wasn't cleaned as we sat in a similar place and noticed that cutlery and glasses were still where they were left on the Sunday, so not so great. Smoking, still seems to be a big thing for many Europeans and there were cigarette butts everywhere. Access to the beach is fun! It's a very steep walk in places so be prepared and if you do have mobility issues or young children you may want to consider popping to Morro Jable (€11 in a taxi) as the beach is a lot more accessible. To summarise...... A nice hotel with bags of potential, not a great deal to do around the area because of where it is situated. The animation team are good and will likely get on some people's nerves but we really enjoyed watching them work. The restaurant food is great, offers plenty of choice and it was always well cooked and hot. The housekeeping team were great and the rooms facilities were good with tea and coffee facilities, a fridge and water supplied daily. The indoor pool bar was hit and miss on getting served drinks, although you do help yourself to teas and coffees and soft drinks. The snacks were ok with a good choice but noticed apart from a slush machine there were no included ice creams for the kids. Check in and out for us was fine, no issues, just make sure you ask about towels and your tokens for the bar. Avoid the themed restaurant, you'll be disappointed. Would we go again? Probably not as we rarely go back to the same place twice, however, if it was my first visit I wouldn't be overly disappointed. A few minor improvements and this place would be a solid 8/10.

Amazing experience at Alua Village Fuerteventura

Pools: The hotel is amazing, 3 pools including the kiddy pool. We thought that going in the summer holidays would be really crowded and busy however it wasn’t at all (keep in mind people get up early to get sun loungers). Rooms: The rooms were cleaned everyday even when you left to go to the pool later in the day. The rooms are very spacious. The only negative is that there is a longer walk up and down hills to get to your rooms if you are one of the lower number rooms. Beach: The beach is not attached to the hotel however there is a very straightforward path going from a gate at the back of the hotel, which again is up and down hills but it’s very beautiful to make up for it. Staff: I saw from other reviews that if you are English the animation team will ignore you, however this isn’t true, the entertainment team will interact with you if you are polite to them but saying hello or good morning. Once they gather you are English they will just say hello as most only speak Spanish or French, however there are two lady’s both with curly hair and one man who will speak to you if you are English, but you can’t expect them to come and speak to you if you show no interest in speaking to them. Sara one of the entertainment team was absolutely lovely, if you were English she would come over and have a long conversation in English with you and will come over and explain the activities that are going on, there was also a lady (sorry I didn’t get her name) but she also had very curly hair and she would translate all the game rules into English straight to your face so that you could feel included too, there was also a man who did this too but we didn’t catch his name. These 3 of the animation team were absolutely great and we really appreciate their help. All the staff at the hotel are very polite even the gardeners and cleaners, everyone will say good morning to you or hello, even if they don’t speak any English. There is also people in reception who can help you book trips outside of the hotel and there is a person for every language, I really recommend doing the oasis wildlife trip. There definitely could’ve been a bit more English spoken however you have to expect that when there is a lot of French holiday makers travelling there rather than English.
