Relaxing, wonderful vacation and we will return!

This was our first time to Jamaica. We had read the reviews, some good and some bad so weren't sure what to expect. From when we checked in until we checked out we really enjoyed our stay. Unless you can afford to have a perfect vacation, expect some minor issues. Nothing is perfect. It's how you deal with it. And we felt that the staff was usually ready to help when we needed it and were friendly as well. We were upgraded upon check in. And we were also thanked for checking in on line as it made it easier to get us done quickly. We did have to wait for our room and the only issue we really had was that day, trying to get lunch at The Round Island Food Market. For some reason it was packed and there were no plates available. Took about 20 minutes to get us plates. The food was good and the service was good. We went back a few times for breakfast and lunch and never had an issue. Our room was large with plenty of storage, clean, and a comfortable bed. No complaints except the shower head needed a cleaning but we used the hand held one instead and that worked fine. We always had our fridge restocked with water, beer and soda. Some times 3 beers! We had 4 a la cartes - The Knife was fantastic. Our welcome drink was delicious, the wine we had with our steaks was very good. And the fillet mignon was amazing. We also had great service. The Dolce Vita was also very good, so much food! And service again as great. The Don Pablo was excellent as well. Chateau Briand was very tasty. The last one was The Mikado. The only issue that night was they were short staffed, but again, not the fault of those who were there. We ordered the fish and it was vary good but so much food we couldn't finish the meal. The main buffet always had plenty of food choice for everyone and for the most part the service was great. I have read complaints about the staff and how some are miserable. We didn't experience that although some were more friendly than others. But that is the same at any place we have been to. For us the beaches in front of the resort weren't that impressive. But we walked around the bay about 400 meters and the beach there was very nice, water was nice (not deep) and there was plenty of seating and shade. Pus there was a bar! On our first day there, jerk chicken was made at the stand behind the chairs and it was delicious. Unfortunately, it was never done again during our stay. We only went to the pool a couple of times, it was generally hard to get a seat and we prefer being in the ocean. But again, no issues when we were there. It was a very relaxing vacation and we will definitely go back after renovations. We had no major complaints, nothing that would make us give this resort a 1* for sure. We met a lot of nice people. Even the gentlemen on the beach with their ganja were respectful and enjoyed a good laugh. They asked every day in case we changed our minds but not aggressively as some people have said. Go and enjoy the resort once it's been renovated. If you treat the staff with respect and are friendly, they will be the same. Use the VIP at the airport if you want extra special service. We were blown away by food and the service.

    • “Completely Unacceptable Stay – Do Not Recommend”

We stayed at Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica from June 17–26, 2025, and this was easily one of the most disappointing resort experiences we’ve ever had. While the property itself might appear nice on the surface, nearly every aspect of our stay was riddled with issues ranging from neglect and unprofessionalism to outright false advertising. 🚫 Room Issues: • Upon check-in, our room (#18407) had no towels, the minibar was empty, and the refrigerator was turned off. After calling Guest Services, it took over an hour to receive what should’ve already been in place. The staff member who delivered them even entered the room without knocking. • The safe in our room never worked during our entire stay. Staff came twice to fix it—no resolution. • We experienced a ceiling leak that ran down the wall and onto the floor. Despite reporting it multiple times via phone and the app, it was not addressed for over 16 hours. 🔒 Access & Security Failures: • We were locked out of our room, along with 10 other guests, due to a key system failure. Again, no urgency or clear communication from staff. 🍽️ Food & Dining Disasters: • The main buffet was poorly managed: food often ran out and wasn’t replenished, and no drinks were offered unless we constantly asked. Waitstaff ignored empty water glasses and forgot utensils and napkins. • We attempted to get late-night snacks at Beach Restaurant Piscis, which is advertised as open from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM. It was closed with no explanation. • During our formal dinner at Don Pablo on June 24, we watched a chef take a bottle of rum, pour it into a bowl, and walk it into the kitchen. • On June 22 around 8 PM at The Round Island food market, I witnessed several employees drinking red wine behind the counter—completely unprofessional and inappropriate. 💬 Poor Service and Rude Staff: • Many of the employees were rude, unhelpful, and clearly untrained in basic customer service. Requests were ignored, and we often felt like we were inconveniencing them by asking for anything. • The teens club, one of the reasons we booked this resort, was closed during posted operating hours with no explanation or notice. • At the Xaymaca show, we were wrongly told we had no reservation—even after providing our room number. The attendant walked away, and we held up the line until another staff member intervened. We were only allowed in after showing proof in the app. 📱 Poor Communication & Lack of Accountability: • Most problems required multiple reports and follow-ups to even be acknowledged. • The resort’s app is unreliable and many staff seemed uninterested in resolving anything we reported through it. ⸻ We came here for a relaxing family vacation, and instead, we spent our days chasing down basic services and dealing with constant frustration. Bahia Principe advertises itself as a premium all-inclusive resort. In reality, it’s disorganized, unprofessional, and nowhere near worth the money. I do not recommend this resort to anyone looking for quality, safety, or customer care. I hope management takes this review seriously, because no guest should have to go through what we did.

    Unforgettable

5 stars, from the Food, to the Beach, and even the staff, from the front desk to the last smile, 1 of the best trips I have had in a while. Thank you

Amazing Stay - Great Kids Club - Lovely Stay !!

We booked this resort despite many bad online reviews as we received real life reviews from people who have stayed at Bahia Grand Jamaica who had a really good experience. Also just to say before my review, that people on our transfer from the airport and at the actual resort also gave very good feedback about this hotel ( in real life) and are repeat returners !!! So do not be swayed too much by the swarm of negative reviews. That being said - the hotel is not perfect and could improve in lots of areas - but nothing was bad enough for me not to return !! In fact me and my family had an amazing stay for 2 weeks and would for sure recommend this hotel. Location - A bit far from the nearest towns ( Ochi Rios - 40 mins away, MoBay - 1 hour ish away. So taxis can be expensive if you plan on leaving resort a lot. No shops close by that we knew of. Facilities - beautiful resort. Lots of cleaning happening which is reassuring. Food - Food fantastic in buffet and snack bar/ jerk centre. we ate really well for the two weeks we were there. Saw a massive cockroach in Brazilian restaurant but this is based in a tent outside so not surprised. Japanese Tapanyaki was fun!! But poorly organised so a lot of waiting around. We were able to book all 5 of our allocated al la carte restaurants for our big group with no issues and enjoyed these. Steak House and Asian are really good and would recommend. Mixed experiences from our group about Brazilian restaurant - We had to split to booking due to it being over 18’s only. One group had a fantastic time and the other had very poor service. Activities - Daytime activities were really fun we especially enjoyed Poolside bingo and dance classes. Big up the entertainment team who were really energetic and lively. This really is a family friendly hotel so whilst the activities in the main pool were adult based, they were also clean enough for children to be involved. I would deffo suggest booking the adult only luxury side of the resort if you do not have kids as there were alot of kids around ( including mine). Sad the night club was closed during our stay- This should be highlighted when booking!! Room - Room was cleaned everyday to a good standard. Mini bar/ drinks restocked daily which was good. A few issues with the room but any issues we had we raised with reception and they were resolved very quickly. On one occasion the bathroom door got stuck shut and reception sent someone up within 30 mins. On another occasion the remote stopped working and they sent someone up Within 10 mins. We had some issues with our Tui Flight booking - and the despite reception trying twice international calls were DOWN which was a little inconvenient. Beaches- Beaches we’re lovely, We spent most of our time on the beach which is furthest away from the main resort- it has its own jerk shack( disappointingly not open) toilet and bar!! Nice touch to have local people selling fruit and goods on the beach but was clearly being sold at a premium price which is a bit off putting - eg coconut water for $5 KIDS CLUB- Kids club staff and schedule was absolutely fantastic- We dropped off our 4 year old there for a few hours each day and despite his age he loved it and was begging to go back everyday!! They really went the extra mile to make him feel comfortable and do activities based on his interests. They stayed in contact via whatapp and sent pics to show he was happy and having a good time. The staff there really know what they are doing and are clearly experienced and skilled in looking after children - Thank you so much for adding an extra special element to my sons holiday !!! In Summary - We had a blast, this hotel caters for everyone and I would for sure book again in future. Unfortunately my phone got water damaged so no pics to show !!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

Our experience with the check-in process among other things at Bahia Principe was deeply disappointing. We arrived at 11:00 a.m. on 06/19/25 and completely understood that rooms wouldn’t be ready until 3:00 p.m. However, when 3:00 p.m. came and went to the front desk, we were met with nothing but delay and frustration. We were constantly told, “five more minutes,” only for those minutes to turn into an extended wait of an hour with no clear answers. While one staff members (Yanique) tried to assist, most simply passed the responsibility along without offering any real help or solution. It wasn’t until we insisted on speaking with a manager (with the bellhop Fabian who constantly checked on us) that someone finally stepped in to try resolve the issue by getting us into a room. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there. We requested towels—multiple times—my request for towels started a little after 4pm it is now 9:30 pm and the towels or sheets are still not delivered. We had dinner reservations at 6:15 p.m., we had no choice but to attend dinner still unwashed and exhausted from the travel. The sheets on one of the bed was dirty and I have requested for new sheet and those took a long time to be delivered This is my birthday weekend and I chose too spend it at the Bahia principe with 33 of my family members. I have a total of 8 rooms reserved for my family (there were issues with each room and in addition to the cost of the rooms, I paid to host my birthday party/dinner here. Needless to say I am Extremely disappointed that the incompetency and lack or care of staff and management has put a damper on my 50th birthday weekend. The elevator in bldg. 12 was faulty and smashed my sister’s arm and wrist upon entering the elevator. The food at the buffet was subpar. On more than on occasion we saw roaches around the grill. At the Mikado restaurant. This is not the standard we expected from a resort of this caliber . We hope management takes these issues seriously and improves the check-in process and responsiveness to basic guest needs.i From this last experience, I will not be booking at this hotel.
