Not really sure this is the one
Grand resort with beautiful beach access and decent rooms that provide value. But from organizational and service stand point especially considering how large this property is they don't do a great job providing you a brief tutorial of how to get around, where to get food some dos and donts. Segregation is terrible, you are barely allowed to go anywhere to use amenities. Realistically only 2 places to get food so it's quite terrible. Our first day we arrived close to 5, by the time got situated and ready it was close to 6. Zero food at the all inclusive i mean cmon its crazy. Our 4 years old daughter wanted to swim in the pool. At 6:37 pm she was kicked out because it closes at 7 and they already wanted to out chemicals. It's just bad service guys. Considering its literally just u⁷our start i am already wishing we didbt stay here all 10 days. Pinch me but this just sucks so bad.

Not good
First and last visit to this resort. I will start off with saying that I read the terrible reviews about food, customer service, cleanliness, etc before I left, but I always keep an open mind with these - I’ve travelled to the DR (and stayed at other Bahia Principe hotels) many times before and I know what to expect. I never go to an all inclusive expecting it to be absolutely perfect; you take the good with the bad. However, this was by far my worst experience and there were really no positives. While I will certainly return to the DR, I will never stay with Bahia Principe again. Starting with check in, it was chaos. No welcome, no clear sign of where to go, just what felt like hundreds of guests hanging out in the lobby and like 3 staff. Next, food. My issue isn’t really with the quality or variety of the food, because again I’ve stayed at all inclusives and you don’t go there for the food. My issue was with the lack of sanitary measures. The buffet in the lobby was terrible and a cesspool of bacteria. The smell is absolutely horrific. By the last day I couldn’t even walk in there without gagging. If you sit far enough back into the buffet you can’t really smell it, but it’s the first thing you smell when you walk in. There are lots of options for food I felt, however it was not sanitary. Jams, honey, Nutella, etc were just sitting in bowls right where people were lining up for other breakfast foods. You were supposed to just grab a spoon and help yourself to spreads that people likely coughed on, etc. People were not using the tongs for bread, etc, and using their hands - there was no hand sanitizer provided. Fruit was covered in mosquitos and the tables were disgusting. Covered in food and sticky from whoever ate there before. There was maybe one day I saw them wiping down (more like brushing with a dry cloth) the tables between seatings. We found the food at the a la cartes was good, but you are limited to 3-4 dinners. Lastly, customer service was absolutely non existent with the exception of maybe 1-2 staff members we interacted with. We realized within a few days that the resort mainly caters to South Americans and so if you don’t speak Spanish you are treated poorly. This was further confirmed when we went to the gym at Ambar and one of the employees asked why we’re staying at Grand Punta Cana because Canadians usually stay at Ambar. I agree with the other reviews that the renovated rooms are nice, and the shuttles are frequent. To top it off, what was the most defeating is that this vacation was not cheap. I’ve paid less in the DR and had a much better experience. We booked with Air Canada vacations and for what we paid I am so disappointed. They rate this resort 4.5 stars and it absolutely is not. I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

Non- Stop fun and Entertainment!
My family and friends went to this resort in May to celebrate my moms birthday and our friends new engagement and I can honestly say that this was one of the best trips of my life. I had been to this resort before 3 years ago and I absolutely loved it then. Before heading down I was reading reviews and I noticed that there was a lot go negative reviews which made me a little bit nervous to go back to a place that I had enjoyed and loved so much. But.... the resort did NOT disappoint. Take the negative reviews with a grain of salt. Are there things that need to be improved? Yes, but I think you can say that about anywhere you go. This place is stunning, the staff all work so incredibly hard are there is non stop fun going on all day long! One of the reasons that we loved this resort so much is because the activities and the entertainment is non stop. The entertainment team was so much fun! From the moment they arrive in the morning they were greeting guests with friendly smiles and coming over to chat and get to know us . They were always encouraging everyone to get involved in the upcoming fun games and activities, but were not pushy about it. The games always had us laughing and dancing. I really enjoyed that in the mornings you had your typical resort games like ring toss and corn hole and in the afternoon there were competitions, foams parties, dunk tanks, and crazy games. Also, the aqua aerobics at this resort was top notch. This team is incredible and can really dance up a storm. In the evenings the entertainment team would come back and continue the party with all the guests. The nightly live music and dancing on the terrace was one of the highlights of my trip. I had so much fun getting dance lessons from the staff members, they made it so easy and inclusive for everyone to join in and follow. The guys on the entertainment team who really stood out to us and made our trip so special were Luis, Robinson, Jorgi, and Anthony. They made my moms birthday so special and truly celebrated her all day long! we all said it was the best day and night and one we will forever remember. I cannot say enough good things about this team! Another team at the resort that made our trip extra special were the pool bartenders! These guys had smiles on their faces all day long and work tirelessly, making sure our glasses never went empty. One of the bartenders that really stood out to us was Wagter. He definitely went above and beyond and we were so excited to see him everyday. He was so genuine and friendly! Plus he would make us the best drinks, and have great recommendations! He always greeted us with a big smile and truly made an effort to get to know our family. He became our favourite Spanish teacher, he would encourage us to practice our Spanish, and was so helpful whenever we had questions. He also made my moms birthday so special by getting all the bar team to come out and sing happy birthday and treated us with champagne. Every evening we would stop at the pool bar to grab a drink before heading to our dinner reservation, because he provided such great service and drinks.

Not Great
My first and last time coming to Bahai Principe Grand Punta Cana. First of all the guy at the front desk offered to upgrade us only if we tipped him but then discovered we got the exact room we had originally booked and paid for so that was a scam just to get money out of us. Then we noticed a strong sewer smell coming from the main buffet area. It was disgusting. Rooms not renovated falling apart, stains on our bed sheets and pillows. The room was not cleaned properly, we had to ask for fresh towels and to restock the mini bar. The sheets were not changed they would just remake the bed and we found sand in our bed. Now let’s talk about the beach…full of algae we had to climb up over it to get to the water. They claim to clean at night but all they did was push it back into the water and it would all come back in the morning. The smell on the beach was horrible so most people went to the pool which made it extremely crowded. The a la carte Japanese restaurant was awful and had that same disgusting sewer smell. AC was non existant so you had to eat while sweating like crazy. Overall not a great experience.

Do Not Book!!
If you are planning to come to Dominican Republic make sure you book on the Caribbean side not the Atlantic! If you decide to still do it be VERY VERY careful when you are making a booking to this hotel , so you do not come when its likely that the beach will be covered in seaweed! We are absolutely disappointed , this beach is the ugliest and smelliest we have ever been to! It is seaweed season right now , which we had no idea how bad it can be and how badly they manage i. We arrived on the 21 of May the beach was already covered in seaweed, today is the 30th of May, the situation is even worse , more seaweed and the smell is completely disgusting , not to mention that you can not even access the sea. I have been told by local vendors that usually the seaweed season is May , June, July and they clean it once a month, so that means if it is allways this bad 2 weeks each month beach looks like this . The Beach is completely useless , so if you are like us that you want to enjoy the beach and the sea this is a No Go for you! We flew nearly 9 hours from London and paid almost 6500 USD Please take time to have a look at the pictures. And while some will say you can not do anything about it , it’ s just nature , the seaweed is not the resorts the hotels fault that I have to agree with , but the complete lack of professionalism and workforce to clean it up its absolutely their fault, even if you would say its not their duty to clean the beach , how they expect their customers from all over the world flying here obviously because of the beach as well to be happy with this?! When I say that the work they are doing is completely inefficient that is an understatement ! During the day I have seen about 10 people shovelling the seaweed and 2-3 machines working. Almost every night I had a walk on the beach hoping that I will see progress and the next day will be clean and we can enjoy it , But No! Every night I have had a walk there was 1 maximum 2 excavators working on the beach no more than that but usually just 1, and its a very long beach front with multiple huge hotels on it like Bahia Principe , Riu Palace , Iberostar and many more. All could have been sorted in a couple of days with 10-15 machines and proper work force organised . Instead it’s been like you can see on the pictures for 9 days minimum but it’s nowhere near clean! For them it might be only 2 weeks to clean it up but for us it’s our entire holiday! Let’s be honest , when you fly nearly 9 hours and thats a straight flight , and spend around 6.5k dollars this is absolutely not what you expect. We expected a nice Caribbean beach as you will see in their pictures , instead we have smelly ugly beach that even if we wanted we couldn’t use. The hotel itself is not bad, more like 4* than 5. The food is ok , food safety not good, the buffets food is pretty similar every night but overall a 3.5 out of 5 Some chefs unfortunately do not know the hygiene standards , the other night while I was waiting for my food , the chef that was grilling the meet has wiped his face and neck and then with the same paper towel wiped down the counter .. Another thing which I notice them doing all the time, they are touching the raw meet and the cooked meat with the same utensil I have noticed that many times. That is called Cross Contamination . I have noticed many other food handling issues. The pastry side of the buffet is pretty good. The à la carte restaurants foods are no different than the buffet restaurants food, they are presented better obviously because they served on a plate and not self service but the taste and the type of food is the same. One thing which I have to applaud is the Staff , they have been very kind to us and welcoming. However overall flying from Europe here , spending that kind of money , ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH IT. I am making a longer video which I will post on my Main Yotube page I will add the link on the this review or on Trustpilot! The last picture is on the day we have arrived the rest of them are from today! 30th of May
