Bahia Principe Grand Punta Cana
The property is DATED...!!! Personally, it's not the rating listed. Arrived on 11/27/24 and noticed the lobby was clean but the columns and walls all need painting. Stained from what appears to be bird feces. Checking in was straight forward. We were hungry from the long trip, so we headed to the dining area... Bouganville Restaurant. Entering the restaurant presented us with a strong unpleasant odor, which permeated through some of the seating areas... mainly along the perimeter wall. We found the tables in the center of the dining area were the least affected by the smell. The tables themselves were of wood which were severely chipped and splintering. The service was slow. Getting water for the table of 6 was a challenge. The employee working our section brought 1 glass of water and then seemed bothered (gave a gesture and huffing sound) when I asked for water, for the remaining 5 people at the table. Getting coffee refills was the same... she seemed bothered... again. We switched to the other buffet restaurant... Orquidea Restaurant. The service was better and didn't smell as bad. The meals at breakfast were the same every day. Egg made to order. Waffles and pancakes. Assorted sausages and bacon. Deli/fruit station. Sweet table. Various fruit juices made to order, however, they ran out of orange juice early on in our stay and would water down what juice they did put out to make it stretch. Some days, having fresh dishes available was a problem. So much so that people were fighting for the dishes, as they came out of the kitchen. All in all... average. The drinks at the bars are all house brands. Many times, the bars would run out of liquor and would not restock it... left drinking beer and water. This was most prevalent at the beach and pool bars. The bars themselves are not properly staffed for the volume of guests. Some had only 1 bartender, of which it takes about 2 minutes to make a drink. So if the line is 10 deep, the last person is waiting almost 20 minutes to get theirs. The specialty restaurants were good. The meals were well prepared and the service as it should be. However, the menus we were given to look at were filthy. The rooms in the villa we stayed in were dated. Maintenance in the rooms are lacking. Wall switches and outlets were loose or falling off. Only 2 wall outlets into the room... for a lamp, coffee pot and the refrigerator. No outlets at the bed area. The shades on the lamps and the curtains for the patio are moldy from the high humidity. Air conditioning unit needs service... came home with a sinus infection due to it. For every 1 mosquito I got in the room... 3 more would show up. My bathroom countertop was littered with mosquito carcasses on a daily basis. The quality of the room furniture was below average... stained, damaged splintering. Mattress was comfortable. Sheets were of the 200 thread count quality. You could see right through it to the mattress. The bathroom looks like it may have been remodeled from it's original construction. Getting consistent water pressure and/or hot water was a challenge in the morning. The bathroom was stocked with 2 full size towels, 2 face towels and a bath towel for the floor. The quality of the towels was lacking. The landscaping is well maintained. The common areas are clean. Mosquitos were everywhere and relentless. I would caution others to watch out for the fog machine used for fumigation of mosquitos, which they were operating in close proximity to guest. Who knows what chemical they may be using and how harmful is it to humans!!! Pools are aplenty and cool. Many need maintenance from missing tiles. Caution is need so that you don't cut your feet stepping on them. I found the people selling the time shares were too aggressive at times... won't take no for and answer and get mad when you walk away from them. My experience here was below average in quality and in service (in some areas.) This brand is better, but I would not stay at this property again.

Very bad Experiences.
No information on website about the trouble with mosquitos we got bitten to death. Ruined our holiday. Hotel dint help us. Food in the hotel was cold. Food at the food truck was horrible. No information for the English how we cud book other restaurants or where we were allowed to go to other bars. We definitely won't be going back to this hotel the complex was massive wasn't told about this on website either.

BEWARE
If you like a room that smells like a dirty motel room from the 80s, then this is the place for you!!! Currently here (November 26-December 10). The first week was great. We didn't get the king bed and top floor that we asked for, but we pushed the two smaller beds together and it was nice. Nice, new upgraded room. Staff is quick to dismiss you and tell you that they are sending someone, just to not show up at all, so we've learned to go to them instead to get the things we need (water, towels, etc). Again, not a huge deal but definitely not 5 stars. Fast forward to two nights ago. Someone moved into our villa two nights ago and has been smoking non stop inside of their room despite the no smoking signs. Our entire room, sheets and clothes stink like cigarettes!! I've called the front desk and the Privilege Club multiple times yesterday to be dismissed. Last night it was so bad that we couldn't sleep all night so I walked in the pouring rain to seek help only to be told that they don't really enforce the no smoking rule, especially since they don't know which room it's coming from. Out of 18 rooms in the villa, 16 are occupied, 4 just landed last night, 2 left yesterday, and us, so that narrows it down to 9 rooms. Out of those 9 check who checked in 2 days ago and go speak to that person! I've found solutions for them but they didn't help. Their solution was to instead move us with an infant late at night to an old dilapidated room. So even if you upgrade it doesn't matter. BEWARE!!

Kinda Mid For 5 Star
The hotel is nice, staff are nice. The food has a nice variety with different themes every dinner. The restaurants are also nice with good food; I would recommend the Brazilian ones. Most of the drains are clogged so theres a lot of flooding. Our bathtub had a hole near the bottom, and water was leaking all over the floor from the drain. Water also drains very slowly. The ocean floor is all smooth sand, so you wont get scratched or hurt. The wifi is horrible; sometimes it works, sometimes it does not; don't even think about gaming or watching a LIVE video. The salt in the buffet given to you is too big for the salt holes in the jar, and it is impossible to use it without opening. Our room was comfy and room service was excelent; they provided soap, tissues, and free drinks. The pools are clean and big; there are 2 small water parks, which are more like splash pads. They provide transport to the lobby and beach with mini golf cart-like buses. There are also coffee machines in the lobby which I think is a great plus. There are gift shops. I would recommend this but prefer the hotel Ocean El Faro.
