awesome fun mazatlan hotel and great price

This hotel has a beautiful pool and is right by the beautiful ocean in the middle of the golden zone. It has yoga and water aerobics and activities by the pool. Lots of music so don't stay right next to the pool if you like it more quiet. The best part were William at the front desk and the activities director. They were very helpful with everything . Great lounge chairs by the ocean with excellent views. I had a garden room and it was only 80 a night! Coffee shop really close with $2 cappuccinos and wonderful pastries for $1 The restaurant at hotel offered great buffet breakfasts overlooking ocean and beach restaurant had fish sandwiches sushi and late night pizza. weather was great in late april but the week after Easter is very crowded there.

    Not Maintained

Our first room had a patio door that didn't lock and we had to have our safe fixed twice. When we moved to the third floor we had to lift the patio door to open or close it. This door didn't lock either. The air conditioner leaked, leaving huge puddles of water on the floor and the toilet wouldn't stop running. We checked into the hotel on March 14th and the first 2 days were ok. However, every day after that the elevator was broken. Having had knee surgery I wasn't able to walk up and down 6 flights of stairs to our room. When I explained this to them they did move us to the third floor assuring us the elevator would be fixed. That didn't happen. After 5 days of going up and down stairs we decided to go to another hotel. When I asked about a refund I was told I had to go through Expedia to get the refund for the remaining 7 nights. When we returned home I contacted Expedia. They were great about contacting the hotel to check on the refund. Costa De Oro refuses to give a refund with no reason given. I will not stay here again and will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

A bit disappointed this time around

This was my 4th time staying at this hotel and my 10th in Mazatlan (we love it), my husband and I always stay for 2 weeks and this year we had a goup of 13 join us for our second week! Ivan at the bar took great care of us. BUT this is the first time I have ever had anything stolen from my room so I was very disappointed. My apple air pods went missing from the night stand beside the bed, the front desk "looked" into it and I was just told that the maid never saw them just charge cords... I know they were there and they sure didnt come home with me! My friends pool float was also taken from her room. In 14 days, the pool was ony warm two days and now we can not even use the hot tub unless you belong to the "Vacational club". The activities around the pool were also lacking, only saw bingo twice, waterpollo once, no volleyball or trivia. They have also removed the tables and the majority of the chairs around the pool and you can only sit on those hard loungers for so long...It might be time to try a new hotel once again.

Classic bait and switch; you get a fraction of what you pay for.

The only redeeming value at Costa de Oro is the very attentive and friendly wait staff at the pool bar and main restaurant. The single pool has plenty of hard plastic lounge chairs but they’re so comfortable you don’t want to lay or sit too long. You can turn in a card for one towel per person. The view in Tower 2 was beautiful, but the room with a small kitchen was very beaten up and worn down. There was white wall paint splattered over the furniture and trim. Mold covered the kitchen chairs. The rust around appliances was scary. The two full beds were tiny. The safe did not work. Do not pay for an “all-inclusive” because you only get a fraction of what is offered to the non-inclusive customers. You can only order from a tiny menu with a dozen items relative to the full food and beverage menus. The poolside snack bar food was practically inedible. The “fractional-inclusive” bar menu is Pacifico beer, some weak tropical drinks, and wine not worth tasting.

Nice family resort with exceptional staff

Stayed one week at the Costa de Oro in an oceanfront suite. The view was fantastic, the beds were comfortable, and the room was very clean thanks to the lovely Lupita. It is an old hotel but it is well maintained. Our room was freshly painted, and the kitchen was well equipped. The pool was crystal clear, the beach was easily accessible, and it was an easy walk to lots of great restaurants. Unfortunately, my mom fell on the second day of our stay and fractured her wrist. The staff were very attentive as first responders and helping with transportation to a doctor and eventually the hospital. Some staff members also checked up on mom every day for the rest of our stay. While all of the staff at this hotel were very friendly, those of note were lifeguard Miguel, Security Juan Carlos, Bell captain Alejandro, concierge Fidel and, at the front desk Jonathon. I would definitely stay here again.
