Good hotel although room for improvement

Overall we were impressed with the hotel, for example the general service, the food quality, great breakfast selection, amazing pool area and comfy beds. The location is good too if you want to venture out and either go to the harbour, or the party area. The main downsides are: The room: - The parrots on the North side of the hotel are really loud and youll need to shut the patio door during the day. (A restaurant a few hundred metres away has decided to keep Macaws in small cages). I'm surprised there isn't some noise order that has been raised about it as it sounds like they are in distress. - The patio isn't really useable as no sun could get through the small openings. - The bathroom extractor fan didn't work, so it meant a damp smell used to build up, but also they've decorated it in this dark/primer grey colour which looks cheaply done. The good quality and sevice was generally good except for one day where they really dropped the ball in the barefoot grill. They were slow to hand out menus (15 minutes wait), another 15 minutes to take the order, no salad came out with one of the meals but also they cross contaminated the food with tree nuts making one of us ill temporarily with an allergic reaction. Whilst we spoke to the manager who was able to "resolve" the issue on the day, upon checkout though whilst we thought we got the meal for free as a good will gesture, it turns out no communication was sent to the front desk, so I ended up having to pay for the full meal even given the problems we faced! That leads me onto the final issue, don't bother trying to book a table at the front desk, as there is a disconnect whereby on the first night, we were told the restaurant was fully booked and would have to be squeezed in, when we arrived it was fairly comical with just 2 other couples eating there! Overall I would stay here again given the relaxed nature, albeit making sure to raise any issues with both restaurant and front desk management teams given they don't talk to each other.

    8.5/10 - very impressive

What a fantastic hotel! Nicely appointed rooms, with good bed linen & towels. The best shower ever, and nice products that don't wreck your hair. The food offering is brilliant too, with lots for vegetarians. They do a great tofu poké bowl at the Barefoot Grill. And amazing pizza & pasta at Trattoria. But the breakfast is the king - for all the 5 star hotels I've been to, I've never known such an extensive selection & choice. The sunset bar is fabulous: good service  - friendly fast & efficient Reception are welcoming & friendly too (thank you Elena). Out and about things are very different though - stepping away from the style & elegance & quality & standards of the hotel. It's all pretty grotty and uninspiring - we were pleased to get back into the hotel!! But if you fancy it, there are a few nice eateries nearby. I recommend an Indian called BOMBAY BABU, 13mins walk away, ROSSO SUL MAR (a short drive/taxi). Or a 25min walk to LIMONELLA. The only downside of the hotel for us (and normally we have a whole list of improvements!) is that the sunbathing area is just too crowded. It would feel far nicer with 30% more space. I think next time I book, I'll ensure I sign up to the premium part of the hotel, and hope for a less crowded experience.

    Unhappy with guests behaviour

Staying her now and whilst the hotel is lovely had a very bad experience today with a very aggressive guest when I asked if his wife could stop vaping in a no smoking area and it was affecting me. I have never heard such aggression and whilst the staff members were very sympathetic they were unable to deal with this. Has totally ruined my stay here. Unfortunately security would have been needed with the gentleman’s behaviour

Our holiday was really great, and we could not be more happy with our choice of the hotel, it is on the wonderful location,so clean and so well maintained. Outside area with wonderful pool, all those restaurants and bars, green and lush with all different trees and flowers, it is calm and relaxing, and sooo much better than other hotels in big buildings around. We felt the Preferred Club was worth the extra, afternoon snacks and drinks were perfect, all staff is kind and welcoming, and just add to that overall nice feeling. All in all, from us nothing negative, just keep up the great work :)
