    Good, not great.

I recently returned from five nights at Eden Roc Cap Cana. TL;DR: A good experience, but not worth the money. And lock up your credit cards. I booked the "Deluxe Beachfront Room" (their "cheapest" room, still $1,280/night inc. taxes and fees). Pros: - The property itself is beautiful and very well cared for. White sand, gorgeous ocean, well-manicured greenery, etc. - The complimentary airport pickup and dropoff was great - nice cars, bottled water ready to go, easy to find the driver. Drivers were friendly and helpful. - The beach service was exceptional; the best I've ever seen. Raymin was a superstar. He checked in on me regularly, was blazing fast, and was always friendly. - The bellmen were outstanding; prompt, courteous, and helpful. - The massage at the spa was excellent, and the spa staff worked quickly to fit me into their schedule even without a confirmed appointment. - The bed was insanely comfortable, I slept nine hours each night. - The air conditioning is A++++++ (no annoying "must have a key card in the slot for AC to work" nonsense). I like my room COLD and this place hit the spot. - Seaweed is a major issue in most resorts in this region. These folks have set up a whole system to cut down on it, and the hardest working people at this resort spend their mornings in the hot sun scooping up the seaweed from the beach and carting it off. - Waitstaff at the restaurants were all friendly, courteous, and kind. They had excellent English (and humored my terrible Spanish). Could Go Either Way: - The "private concierge" service is likely helpful if you're someone that wants to book a lot of activities or need a lot of hand-holding. I really just wanted to relax on the beach and disconnect from technology (which I stated multiple times to the concierge), so I didn't like someone texting me and sending voice memos multiple times per day. YMMV. - The food was good, not great. It was solid restaurant food, which is better than I can say for most resorts. I didn't eat anything that I'll remember a week from now. - Note that 18% gratuity is included in every bill you sign here. I always added a separate tip in cash (USD is fine). Cons: - The few things I asked my "private concierge" for were not completed. I had pre-booked a massage before arrival; the concierge said that they did not see it on my reservation, but would make sure it was handled. I arrived at the spa and they had no record of my booking. I also saw the concierge when heading to the store to purchase a beach bag. They said there should be a complimentary bag in my room to use, and called someone to request that a bag be brought; it never was. I'm not sure if I just got a bad run, but it's not a great look. - When traveling solo, I'm used to questions, but it's never appreciated. Unlike some other solo travelers, I'm not bothered by the "just one?" question at dinner; I was, however, frustrated by "where's your family?" or "is your husband on his way?" I appreciate people trying to be friendly, but if I'm dining alone you really don't need to ask why. Also, if there is only one toothbrush in the bathroom, and only one set of clothes in the closet, you don't need to set up turndown service on both sides of the bed. Nitpicky: - The room itself was relatively run down; certainly not the quality I expect from a place this pricey. I know it's hard to keep things in top condition right next to the beach, but some of the details (shower door wasn't properly aligned, bathroom door was stuck and impossible to close, paint on the ceiling where a roller had pushed up while painting the walls) were just sloppy. - There was no roof or other covering over my balcony. This meant that my outdoor seat cushions got soaked during the nightly rain unless I remembered to bring them in. - There was a "welcome amenity" (a bottle of prosecco and a dry chocolate cake-ish thing). This was fine, but I didn't drink the prosecco that night. It then sat in a bucket of tepid water for the rest of my stay. - Instead of mowing, the grass here is cut with weedwhackers. This is LOUD, and also creates huge amounts of miniscule, itchy grass particles that then fly through the breeze and land on you when you're trying to enjoy a chair by the pool. Word of Warning: - Three of the credit cards that I brought with me had their information stolen and were fraudulently used. I know that it was a member of the hotel staff and not a fellow guest/etc. I'm not providing more details, because I don't want to point fingers in a forum like this, and because the staff there is unlikely to earn much money and losing their job would put them in an even worse financial situation. I did not bring this to the attention of anyone at the hotel (either at the time or at checkout), primarily because I was already frustrated and did not want to spend more time of my (very expensive) vacation on this. But visitors, please learn from my mistake: even at a resort like Eden Roc, these things happen.

    Paradise in The DR

Outstanding ocean front suite . Your every need is met with delightful cuisines, verdant scenery and beautiful golf course. We enjoyed our time on the beach and in the restaurants for a long weekend . This would be the only place to stay in the DR

    Amazing and relaxing

They put the Eden in Eden Roc. This was true paradise. My wife and I stayed in one of the oceanfront bungalows. We had an enormous wrap-around porch with a plunge pool, couches, a dining table, and a few additional seating options. We pretty much just sat on the porch and watched the waves crash against the rocks all day. Super private, but with room service that shows up in 20-25 minutes. The food was incredible by the way - the perfect middle ground for us: not too fancy, and with many nutritious options. The breakfast buffet was simple but hit the spot each morning. La Palapa is a really enjoyable venue with absolutely delicious seafood. I used the gym every morning. It was mid-sized and had everything we needed for lifting, cardio, and stretching. The hotel super-elevated itself with its staff. Wow were they a treat - so kind, thoughtful, and attentive. One other thing to note - we had no problems getting front row beach spots in the middle of the afternoon. If you are looking for a peaceful few days, this is it.

I was living in a poem

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Excellent food, green juice, eggs, and avocado for breakfast at the Blue Bar, glorious seafood soup at the palapa, and exquisite coconut margaritas at the Blue Bar. The spa offered professional anti-stress treatments, the silence in the villas surrounded by plants, listening to the birds sing while sipping a coffee. I felt like I was living in a poem, the beach with sand that feels like talcum powder… coconut water under the palm trees… you have to experience it to understand it. The Dominican Republic has it all.

    Paradise…with the best service!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Eden Roc Cap Cana. The accommodations were perfect (beachfront king) - clean, quiet, comfortable! The beach and surroundings were beautiful, all the restaurants and meals were delicious, the breakfast menu and buffet were extensive, drinks were cold and tasty. Above all, the service is what would bring us back in a heartbeat. From the moment we were met at the airport, to the arrival and tour to our room, the concierge service, the beach staff, the servers and bartenders…..exceptional service and so friendly it felt like home. Thank you!
