Nov 03, 2025A Beautiful Hotel With a Dark Side — Be Careful With Their Sales Tactics!!!
We traveled all the way to Cancun just to attend the Festival of Life and Death at Xcaret — something we had planned for months and were really excited about. We were only staying for the weekend, so every hour mattered. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience turned into a huge disappointment because of Xcaret’s manipulative sales practices, which started right at the airport. As soon as we left baggage claim, a woman pretending to help us find our pre-booked bus took us to another person, Olivia, who claimed she worked with Xcaret. She said she noticed we had already bought our park tickets and had paid too much, so she wanted to “help” us by offering a free breakfast at the hotel — just to make our trip “more special” and help her earn a small commission. It sounded harmless. BIG MISTAKE! That “breakfast” turned out to be a trap. We were taken to the hotel and made to sign a paper they said was a breakfast voucher — it was actually a commitment to attend a timeshare-style sales presentation to become “members” of the Xcaret group. During breakfast, David, one of the salesmen, sat with us and began sharing emotional personal stories — including that his grandmother had just passed away — all to manipulate us into staying and listening. What was supposed to be a peaceful meal became one of the most uncomfortable and exhausting experiences we’ve ever had. Then came Daniel, a larger, intimidating man who tried to pressure us into buying a 20-year membership for USD 13,200, asking for USD 4,000 right away. We said no many times, but they wouldn’t stop. Every time we refused, they brought another salesperson with a new “special deal.” It was endless. We felt trapped — it’s impossible to leave without help from someone inside the hotel, and the pressure never ends. We lost almost the entire day and barely had time to enjoy the festival we had traveled so far to experience. Later, we met other tourists who had been deceived in similar ways — promised “free breakfasts,” “special promotions,” or “offers to help” that led to the same sales pitch. 👉 Warning: Do not talk to anyone from Xcaret at the airport. Do not sign anything. Go directly to your transportation or official hotel desk. This kind of behavior is unacceptable from a company of this size. Beautiful place — but the experience was completely ruined by unethical and manipulative practices. Never again.

Xcaret Hotels are our spiritual retreat to enjoy life and family.
Great amazing place to enjoy with family. The new phase and the restaurants are incredible, especially the culinary experiences in the Restaurants. Its worth every penny expend. The Tour Xenotes is something that we higly recommend to everyone to experience, what a tour the best in the Xcaret group ! FYI, We are members and enjoy every time we go to the Xcaret Hotel, never regret buying the membership.
