Jun 22, 2025Unforgettable Iberostar experience
We visited Iberostar Waves Punta Cana from Jun 6 to 20th. We travelled with Air Transat for the fist time in long time and have to say it was good experience booked option plus and I have to say it is worth it. The only problem was for pick up at last day and ride to airport. The diver was late and hour and then driving other people around, we made to gate 20 min before boarding. Also all two weeks at the resort, we could not reach the airline representative. It was a meeting on Monday and he never showed up and never answered the phone. Thank God we had phone app. I am wondering what people are doing of they do not have phones. Now on the resort, Iberostar Waves. The check in was fast and we were in room in 15 min. The resort is very small and very to our liking. Two minutes walk to the beach, two minutes to buffet and restaurants Perfect for us. I have to mention that resort is very disable accessible with so surprising, So many people in wheelchairs and they had access to everything, even to the beach. Very admirable. Resort is very clean and very well kept. Room was dated but very clean. We had premium tropical view room. So quiet. I never saw any bugs or anything! Water pressure was awesome and always hot water. Housekeeping, amazing. Cleaning every day and fridge stocked with drinks and beer. Water stations all over resort which is very convenient! We are buffet people so we used Higuey Buffet for breakfasts and dinner. I have to say, we are visiting DR for more that 20 years but food in this resort was the best! So tasty and spiced to perfection! All kudos o the chef! Also, I have to mention server Mateos and Yasemeia (I apologize for spelling) but they were amazing! So kind and always bring you anything you need. Lunch we had at La Palapita and they very good choices of food drinks and ice cream,. No complains at all! Beach was beautiful! Water was clean up until the last day! Unfortunately last day we could not even swim because of the seagrass. It so much on the beach and smell was overwhelming! Thy are trying to clean and they do a good job, but force of nature is stronger. Show we did not go. Pools we did not use but they looked fun. Always full and activities going on. I have to say a lot of activities for kids and adults available. The only negative I can think is that timeshare tour. Carlos meet us the second we stepped into hotel and booked us. He was good but we barley understood what he was saying. He never mention time share and we unfortunately went. It was waste of time because that is just not for us. Be aware of them they are in blue suits and they even hunt you on the beach. That is the only think I did not like in this resort. All in all, amazing experience and I think we will be back!

This was the most disappointing trip I have ever taken. The first night our room was not ready at check in and we had to wait about an hour after the advertised check in time. When we finally got in our room we didn’t have any washcloths. We had to request them 3 times and wait about 5 hours before we got them. AND the front desk person got smart with us when we called to request them the second time. The second night the toilet seat broke all the way off and my mom and aunt had to fix it themselves. The third night the room safe malfunctioned and wouldn’t open with all our cash and passports locked inside. The food is mediocre and the staff was occasionally rude, especially in the gift shop. They boast about a $300 per room resort credit which is entirely false advertising. You can’t go to the beach without being bombarded with unwanted solicitors trying to sell you stuff you don’t want. This resort is definitely a one and done for me and my 6 family members I traveled with.

This was our first trip to Dominicana. Travelled in Nov 2024. Overall I would say it was a good stay. The weather was mixed. Out of a week 3 days were rainy, but it was still hot. Beach was clean and sandy, lots of lounge chairs available, pool is good. Buffet and restaurants has lots of options. Open till 4 am which was unique, but useful. We liked French restaurant the best, Japanese had the best atmosphere. Professional great Shows every night. Resort grounds are not too expanded, so not too much walking, everything is in walking distance. I liked 3-4 floors buildings type. There no DJ option at night. Spa has hydro massagers, steam room and sauna, but nothing special. Our room was spacious. Beds are comfy.

Worst experience
Hotel is dirty, food is mediocre and staff is incredibly rude. Grounds and amenities are outdated. They do not speak English and are incredibly terrible in how they talk to people and have little motivation for service. Spend hour $ elsewhere!!

Bad Experience.
That pig's tale is actually no even Dominican, it is an area used by the European, especially Spain, keep to run their business, to make money. They don't care about Quality of food and comfortability for the customers. Knowing how nice Dominican people are, it is frustrating to find out that in Punta Cana, THERE ARE NOT DOMINICANS, and everything is managed by Spain from far, far away.
