Jan 05, 2026A lovely hotel but needs to up their "wellness" game
It was a nice hotel. The Level room was spacious, and our concierge, Jose, was fantastic. The staff were super friendly and engaging, and they always had a smile on their faces. There were many fun activities offered. We chose Melia Punta Cana because it is marketed as a Wellness Resort. I did, however, encounter a few issues. The first and the worst being that people were allowed to smoke anywhere on the resort, and our room even had an ashtray. All I smelled during my entire stay was cigarette and cigar smoke. Not only does that adversely affect my health, but it also smells terrible and lingers on my hair and clothing. A wellness resort should not permit smoking, and if it does, there should be a designated area where all smokers can gather and ingest the terrible effects of 2nd hand smoke in their own lungs. The 2nd issue I had was the food. It was just okay. I'm vegan, and I do appreciate that my dietary needs were taken care of at every meal. I wish there had been more and better vegan options. My husband is not vegan, and he did not once rave about the food. To him, it was just ok. A boutique store/gift shop would have been great, even if it cost more money. Something that had souvenirs and snacks. Our room was very close to the Level Main Building, and we frequently heard the beeping of the golf carts backing up, especially at night. It was very distracting and loud. And finally, the gym was tiny and had limited equipment. Again, as a wellness resort, I expected a bigger and better-equipped gym. The best part of our trip was our concierge, Jose (who has since transferred to another Melia hotel), and the Spa. The massage therapists were great. Overall it was a good experience, and if I return, it would be because of the staff.

We absolutely loved our stay at Meliá Punta Cana—beautiful beaches, amazing service, great food, and relaxing vibes. The Level experience was outstanding and made everything feel extra special and memorable.

Jan 04, 2026NOT A FIVE STAR! THREE AT BEST!
This place has declined over the years. Half the people don't speak English which makes it very difficult to communicate. No one is familiar with the property so when you ask three different people where something is you get three different answers. The food is basic and cheap. Nothing of value. They constantly run out of beach towels. There are no toiletries in the bathroom with the exception of toilet paper, tissues and shampoo. They don't even give you hand soap!!! They advertise a bunch of restaurants however, you only have access to a few. The pool was gross, it had a film and a ton of bugs and debris collected by the steps. They dont have a convenience store on the property so if you need Tylenol or something you have to get it from an outside pharmacy. The pharmacy does deliver however they charge a huge fee. Needless to say we will not be back here.

The beach was beautiful and service on the beach was amazing and friendly. The food was very good. The service in the buffet was so bad. I would honestly never come back because of that. We could barely get a glass of water with out meals. That’s unacceptable. Servers blatantly ignoring guests.

Melia Punta Cana Wellness
We had a great time! I loved the bike ride with Diana! Fun activities, friendly staff and beautiful grounds. Many choices for restaurants, but be sure to reserve them as soon as you can once you arrive.
