    Family Trip to Cancun

    Our family had an amazing time! We came with 12 of our family members. Everyone was very kind and helpful. The food was yummy. We enjoyed the buffet. Mercedes gave us wonderful service in the buffet for breakfast. Definitely recommended!

    Disappointed on 3rd Visit – Declining Quality and Service

    This was our third stay at Occidental Tucancun, and sadly, it was a major disappointment compared to our previous visits. The resort has clearly declined in quality and service. Check-In Experience: Check-in has become unnecessarily rigid and slow. Guests are not allowed to check in before 3 PM, even if rooms are ready. On our past visits, we were checked in around 1 PM without any issue. Now, a crowd gathers in the lobby at 3 PM, and the check-in process itself takes 40–45 minutes per guest party — very frustrating. Food & Dining: The buffet food was very poor — limited options, repetitive dishes, and not much flavor. In contrast, the three specialty restaurants (Italian, Mexican, and Seafood) were comparatively better and offered a much nicer experience. Service & Responsiveness: Service response times were unacceptably slow. We found broken glass on our balcony and called three times throughout the day — from 7 AM to 4 PM, before it was cleaned up. Room service was almost impossible to reach by phone. Timeshare Sales Pressure: One of the most exhausting parts of the stay was being approached multiple times by timeshare salespeople. It disrupted the relaxed vibe we were hoping for. The Positives: The restaurant and bar staff were consistently excellent — friendly, attentive, and hardworking. Also, unlike some other resorts, no towel card system here — you just give your room number, which is far more convenient. Final Thoughts: We’ve also read similar reviews of the nearby Occidental Costa Cancun, so it seems these resorts are positioned as budget options under the Barcelo umbrella. Unfortunately, you do get what you pay for, and this property no longer meets our expectations. We will not be returning.

    Awesome stay!

    I found this property excellent. The view and beach is spectacular. The staff was warming and welcoming. I found many choices at the buffets for breakfast and lunch. The staff made reservations for the three dinner restaurants, which I also found them excellent. The Mexican restaurant was superb with many different unique dishes. The room was clean, always had water and snacks in the fridge. I found the property, staff and location WONDERFUL!
