    Loved it

Loved it . Good for you and family to enjoy a peaceful getaway staff were nice and all seemed happy you were there. I plan on going to this place in future . They put on shows every night food was good beach was beautiful and lots of pools to accommodate what your reasoning for swimming is. I went there while Super Bowl weekend was on and they set up a really nice area for it

    No room on arrival

After being home a week and reflecting on our visit to the Occidental Tucancun I have to write about our experience to forewarn anyone who might be thinking of booking a vacation here! The fun began when we showed up at the front desk and proceeded to try to check in. The person at the front desk (his name was Israel) informed us that we did have a reservation but unfortunately they did not have a room for us!! We were 2 couples traveling together. He said we would have to stay at a sister hotel for 2 nights and then we could come back to the resort and be upgraded to "Premium"!! We would have to wait for the manager Maria Cano ( remember that name if you go there God forbid!) As we could talk with her about our situation. When she did show up to talk to us which was about an hour later we were told that because we waited the rooms at the sister hotel were already taken and we were out of luck. They informed us to get hold of our travel agents and get our money back!! We're at the resort and potentially stranded now! After some friendly words with Miss Cano we were eventually offered a shared room with our traveling companions!! Imagine how comfortable thet room would be with 4 adults and 1 washroom! After some more friendly words miraculously they were able to give us our original rooms! Surprise Surprise! The offer for upgrading to "Premium' was now off the table because she felt that wasting our time for 2 hours and then with a higher power, finding us our original rooms was sufficient! The next adventure in our vacation came when we got to our rooms. The toilet wouldn't flush due to plugging and a leaking flapper. They had to come back 2 times and the 2nd time they fixed the plugging issue but not the flapper!! The first night we were woken up to a high pitch squealing that we had no idea what it was. It turns out it was because of the leaking flapper. The pipes would squeal when the water level in the tank lowered and it refilled it. The next day I went to the front desk to inform Manager Maria Cano that if they could replace the toilet flapper the problem would go away. She assured me that she would send some one to fix the issue! The 2nd night we were awoken by a high pitched squealing, i checked the flapper and it was the same one she told me she would change!! We resolved the problem ourselves no thanks to Maria, by turning the water supply off at night. The other reviews that are recent have made mention of the food quality. I'm not sure what if the people that said the food was adequate have ever been to a decent resort. The only food they had at the buffet was essentially the same with a slight variation of sauces that they were served in. No creativity at all in the dishes and the same stuff every day!! Similar salads but on different trays, sliced pork, tilapia and chi ken legs and thighs were the only warm proteins. No shrimp no beef. No Mexican foods either except beans and guacamole. As for the 3 ala carte, they were average at best!! If you have a food allergy find another resort as they could not accomidate my wife and her gluten allergy. On the dlip side the housekeeping, bar staff and cooking staff were genhinely great people!! If you are interested in booking this resort be aware that unless you come here with very little expectations you may be sorely disappointed! Good luck

    Family Vacation, misinformation from staff

The hotel is very nice but the information received from the staff is different based on who is serving you. We asked for a late check out based on our flight being later in the afternoon and was told we would still have access to the amenities, including the buffet for lunch. We asked for a 1pm check out, but when we checked out, we were told we only had until 1pm for the amenities, and the buffet opened at 1pm. Need staff at reception to provide the right information so guests can make an informative decision.

    Excellent and relaxing stay

Had such a great week here. Above and beyond service, place was clean, amazing large beach. Loved the food at La Claraboya. The value for the price I paid was crazy. Would definitely stay here again.
