In the dark!
We are on day two of our trip here. Unfortunately, we have had no power in our room since we checked in. We have contacted the front desk 7 times and it still has not been fixed. Can't charge anything, no tv, can't shower and contine to sit in the dark. To top it off our mini fridge doesn't work and we've had warm drinks in our room. Hopefully, they will assist soon. Posting here to get their attention.

entertainment
stephany was providing amazing service, she gave us a ball and a net so that me and my family were able to play volleyball and we enjoyed it a lot. She overall made our experience much much better and her service was excellent. The service here was amazing and the pool and hotel were also amazing.

Great resort and amenities, food (not so much)
I’m giving this resort 4 stars—mostly because of the food. While the property itself is beautiful and the service in many areas is excellent, the dining experience doesn’t quite live up to the rest of the hotel. We booked the Privilege service, which includes a personal butler and several added perks. The staff genuinely tries to ensure you’re well taken care of, and the added touches like the reserved beach area and premium bar access are a plus. A special shoutout to Justina and Jhon, who gave us outstanding service at the pool—they were friendly, attentive, and really elevated our stay. Now for some honest insights: • Steakhouse: Make reservations early. We waited almost an hour for our food. The appetizers were underwhelming—the shrimp cocktail was literally shrimp coated in mayo and relish, which was unappetizing. The steak was overcooked and wrapped in undercooked bacon. The only side options were mashed potatoes or fries—no vegetables, sauces, or variety. We ended up leaving and going to the buffet. • Buffet: It was just okay. Some items, like the white rice, weren’t fully cooked. This was a trend across several restaurants: limited options and inconsistent food quality. At the Margarita restaurant, the chicken enfrijoladas were decent, but the tacos al pastor were a letdown—served on flour tortillas, which is far from authentic. • Pools & Swim-up Room: This was a highlight! The pools were beautiful and well-maintained. Having a swim-up room was worth every penny—especially since the main pools close at 6 p.m., the private swim-up gave us more time to relax in the water. The pool bar was great, and service was prompt. • Spa: The massages were excellent—highly recommend booking one. However, we never saw a proper sauna or clear spa amenities beyond the massage room. Still worth it for relaxation. • Grounds: The resort is huge, so expect a lot of walking. There are golf cart shuttles, but their schedule is unpredictable, which was inconvenient at times. • Shops: Everything closes at 10 p.m., which felt early. It would be helpful if stores stayed open until midnight for late-night needs. • Tipping: Be prepared to tip often. Service noticeably declined when tips weren’t given consistently. • Beach: The main beach is rough and not swimmable—lots of rocks and strong currents. There is a smaller, quieter beach near the El Beso section that could be great if they cleaned up the seaweed and trash—it has potential. • Location: The resort is far from major attractions, so it’s not ideal if you’re looking to explore or go sightseeing. However, it’s a good option for families, with dedicated kids’ areas and adult-only sections. • Time-share pitch: Be aware—they will try to get you to sit through a time-share presentation that can take 1–4 hours. We were lucky to avoid it. In summary, it’s a beautiful resort for relaxing, especially if you want to stay on property. We had a good time and appreciated the small touches from staff like Justina and Jhon. Also Alexander for helping with surprise cake for the husbands birthday!

Great time at the beach, loved it!!
The best part of my stay was spending my days at the beach. I stayed in the Privledge section & reserved a cabana daily right next to the bar. I really appreciate our waiter, Marckendy. He made our time at the beach very enjoyable. He suggested drinks, which in now one of our favorites. His service stood out amongst everyone else. When they didn't have mango at the beach bar for our drinks, he walked to another bar & came back to surprise us with the drinks we wanted. Special kind of guy!! If you are visiting Ocean El Faro & staying in the Privledge section, look for Marckendy on the beach. He'll remember you for your entire stay, what you enjoy & take care of you. Have fun, we did!!
