Honest review from family with small kids

Family Trip with Kids Ages 3 & 5 – Honest Review of Paradisus Grand Cana My husband and I visit all-inclusive resorts a few times a year, and we’re really not picky. We enjoy buffets and usually always find enough options—even for our picky kids. I’m sharing this review because I know how much other families rely on real feedback when comparing resorts. The Good • Beautiful, spacious rooms: Very clean, comfortable beds (except the sofa bed), and our kids loved the in-room hot tub. Housekeeping comes daily and keeps everything stocked with snacks and drinks. • Water park: Fun layout and a hit visually for little ones. • Room service: Arrived quickly every time (though quality was hit or miss—more on that below). • Steakhouse: The one à la carte we managed to get was good. The Not-So-Good Food & Buffet: • The buffet is very small, with limited and repetitive options. • Most food is heavily seasoned with strong flavors. • Breakfast omelets were the safest option. • Not ideal for picky kids—no cheese pizza ever, pasta station was bland, and overall choices were mediocre. • Room service, while fast, served us pink burgers even after specifically asking for well-done. Service: • Slow just about everywhere—buffet, pool, and restaurants. • Waiting for something as simple as water or coffee took forever. • Only a handful of employees stood out with exceptional service. Pool & Water Park: • The water is extremely cold. • Water park looks great but sections aren’t very shallow, and there are noticeable currents—so parents of small kids need to be on high alert. • Pool drink service is very slow. Activities & Atmosphere: • We visited during Thanksgiving and the property was almost empty. • With so few guests, we expected better service and more organization, but activities were limited and honestly pretty boring. Restaurants & Reservations: • Even with an empty resort, we couldn’t secure à la carte reservations for two nights in a row. • Lemon Fish (Peruvian) had the worst service—very slow, constantly forgetting things. • Food there was just okay, and nothing suitable for kids. We ended up back at the buffet, only to find the same mediocre options. Warning: The Photographer There’s a photographer named Jean who goes around offering photo shoots of families. He’s friendly, but be aware: the photo packages are extremely overpriced. What seems like a fun little photo session ends up being a complete waste of time unless you’re willing to pay a small fortune for the pictures. Bottom Line: We are very easygoing travelers, and we’ve never left an all-inclusive trip feeling disappointed—until now. The rooms are beautiful and the property itself looks amazing, but the food, service, and overall experience were well below average. If you want a large family-friendly resort with a great water park, Lopesan is far better. Even Bahia Principe Fantasia was a much stronger experience. Unfortunately, we wouldn’t return to Paradisus Grand Cana.

    ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE

Absolutely awful experience to this point. My family is on day 6 of our vacation and it has been a complete NIGHTMARE. The 1st room we were in is infested with feral cats, room 2118. The cats have scratched my husband and I both when trying to move our patio chairs. My husband stepped on glass outside of our front door, cut his foot open. They changed our room now to 4104, same exact thing. The service is horrible, most of the staff is rude and seem unpleasant. There’s never reservations available except for the same two restaurants. Then not to mention, my daughter has a seafood allergy and they cooked her food with the same cooking utensils and grill without cleaning it first and right along with fish at the same time. She had an allergic reaction due to the cross contamination and had to be rushed to medical for treatment. All we want is for our money refunded for the rest of our stay and to go elsewhere and they are trying to make excuses of why they can’t refund our money right now. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE, DESERVE 0 STARS.

    Bad restaurant booking experience

We are on day 4 at Paradisus Grand Cana in Punta cana. We are a family of 4 adults and 3 small children in a concierge building Suite 4306 and 4317 . The suites are spacious and grounds are nice but the booking for the specialty restaurants for dinner is extremely stressful and ruins the whole experience. We travel every year to Paradisus Riviera Maya in Mexico and thought that the same brand in the Dominican Republic will work similarly. Well, we were mistaken. Our concierge was not able to get the reservation for us for the hibachi restaurant so far. Every morning he tells us he was not able to make the booking for our family, I spoke with the manager of concierge department but she was dismissive and told me there is no guarantee for the restaurant bookings , I wander what is the point of getting the concierge suite at a much higher price if they are not able to get me the one request that is important to my family. Every morning since arriving I spend stressful time in their office and leave with no resolution to my issue. My family will not come back to this resort, there are other resorts that will gladly take our business and provide a stress free holiday. For our family the dinning experience is part of the vacationing And unfortunately this resort is not living up to our expectation. It seems they don’t care for the business. Sad experience for us.

    Family trip

Buffet needed to keep all dishes warm if not hot. Entertainment on location was lacking. Service was outstanding. It was the best service I have ever received .
