Jun 26, 2025The perfect resort for us
We staged a week at the Royal hideaway playacar. The resort was beautiful, I loved the indoor/outdoor concept of the front entry. The room was lovely, AC worked well. We stayed in villa 26, and Gabriella was our concierge. She was a true delight to work with. So genuine, friendly and caring. She went above and beyond when we realized at the airport on our departure that he had left his watch in the room. She contacted a cab driver and had it delivered to us before our departure. There were so many great members of staff there. Eduardo at the main pool, all the bartenders at the Allegra bar, and the staff and head chef at the chef’s table made us feel so welcomed. The food at the chefs table was outstanding, and the experience was such a treat on our stay. Our favorite restaurant was Azia, that sushi was outstanding. We enjoyed the gym and relaxation pools, as well as the dinner show, tequila tasting and so much more. It was an incredible trip, and we were thrilled with our choice of resorts. We weren’t down there for the party scene, but we had a wonderful time wheeling other guests, playing in the main pools and doing some karaoke. We were looking for an intimate setting, and this was the perfect spot for it.

Jun 24, 2025Lovely hotel but inaccessible beach
Stayed for 8 days and our trip seemed to coincide with the arrival of a massive amount of Sargassum seaweed which prevented any access to the sea and the smell at times was pretty awful. Whilst I appreciate that there is not much the hotel can do to prevent its arrival, throughout our stay there was no attempt to clear any of the seaweed - other hotels in the area seemed to try to clear an access to allow guests to at least get into the water. I imagine the beach would be beautiful without the smelly seaweed but, if the beach is important to you, avoid this resort at Sargassum season!! Other than the seaweed problem the hotel has a lot of positives. There are a good selection of restaurants and the quality of the food is very good. Trying to book your favourite restaurant can sometimes be difficult and there didn't seem to be any sample menus available in advance to help you decide which restaurant to visit so it was a little hit and miss. However, all restaurants had a good selection of food so a fairly minor issue and, overall, the food was excellent. There does seem to be a bit of a hierarchy in service offerings with American guests seeming to get much more attentive service from restaurant, bar and pool waiter staff. I imagine this is because culturally they tend to tip more but the result is that we generally waited longer for service which of course made us less inclined to tip heavily so the cycle is unlikely to get broken!! The hotel is clean and well maintained and the rooms have good quality toiletries and the mini bar is well stocked. There is a good programme of activities and entertainment and the staff are very enthusiastic and engaging. I would recommend the hotel based on the food, drink, cleanliness and overall atmosphere but the seaweed is a major issue and I can't help but feel 8 days without being able to get into the sea is not acceptable when other hotels in the area were actively trying to clear their part of the beach. I would definitely visit again but will keep a close check on the Sargassum reports!

This hotel is about what I’d expect from a Days Inn in the USA. It was fine. The problem is that I wanted and paid for a luxury experience and that was not to be found at this hotel. The beach was gross with sargassum’s- while the hotel can’t control this - they also did not comb the beach like neighboring hotels did. The a/c and air quality in the rooms was terrible, leaving me hot and no well rested.

Friends trip was a good experience, couldn’t get in ocean due to so much seaweed which isn’t their fault, reservations for dinner are hard unless you want to eat at 9pm should allow you to prebook your reservations before coming

Best AI we’ve been to!!
My husband and I stayed here for a week at the beginning of June and absolutely loved it. The entire resort is so private and so tropical and gorgeous. The pools are incredible and we loved the ease of having a buffet for breakfast and lunch right by the pool in the ocean. The food was good and the drinks were great! The staff is so kind and helpful. We felt catered to all week. Truly, our favorite all inclusive we’ve ever been to. A big shout out to Alexa the activities coordinator!! She ran the activities by the pool and was amazing. She had so much energy and was so fun and she was lovely to talk to you. We enjoyed talking to her and loved watching her interact with all the guests and lead all the activities with such energy and happiness. 10/10 recommend this beautiful resort!!!
