Oct 16, 2025Disappointing Stay Despite Great Amenities
I stayed at the Marriott at the end of August for three nights using my Platinum Elite upgrades. Unfortunately, I didn’t receive an upgrade—despite my request—and was instead placed in a handicapped room overlooking the street on the second floor, even though my profile notes a preference for high floors. I’ve stayed here before and received excellent upgrades, but this time the experience fell short. The front desk service was average at best; while I did receive the discount breakfast benefit, the staff member wasn’t accommodating and didn’t offer the usual Elite perks such as complimentary water or access to the concierge area. It was disappointing, especially compared to my previous visit where everything exceeded expectations. On the positive side, the breakfast was outstanding—the attendant was friendly and attentive—and the amenities remain excellent, with a great location close to everything. However, overall, this stay didn’t live up to the Marriott standard I’m used to.

We spent the last two nights in San Juan in this hotel and it didn't let us down. The location is excellent and it is easy to access all you need for vacation. The only thing to improve is that there is no wine glasses and opener in my room but once you asked they were sent to the room. The wine opener is a brand new one with a cover on it and I guess they just bought from a convenient store nearby.

Very nice hotel. Meals are too expensive, and there should be more entertainment at night for families. Nothing to do but go to the Casino where children are not allowed. Beautiful resort but for a grand hotel it lacks in entertainment. Should they have more entertainment, it would be perfect!

Great / easy quick getaway
My friend and I had a nice long weekend here. It’s busy but well kept. Pros are that it’s close to the airport and has a good pool/beach area. Note, it’s not a beach you really swim in - the sea was rough. But it is lovely to relax in the sand under an umbrella. Plenty of food and drink options outside the hotel. The breakfast was buffet/omelette station and pretty good. Really no complaints. It’s a good base to explore San Juan. Staff was helpful.

San Juan refuge
Excellent hotel. Beautifully furnished rooms. Lovely pools. Fantastic staff eager to please. Appreciated Nestor Sr at the beach who set us up with beach chairs and umbrella. Compared to the Hilton Diplomat in Hollywood FL, the beach is much quieter in terms of guest noise. We love to listen to the sound of the waves crashing, not somebody's favorite radio station or i-Tunes playlist. Wish all hotels would BAN THESE from their beaches - people who blast their own music are incredibly rude. (Yes, I realize some beaches are public, and they can't enforce restrictions such as these.). Luckily, there were few of these thoughtless guests at the Marriott. KEY TIP: Marriott has a rate guarantee - get prices from travel sites, book the lowest price, then compare to Marriott website. If your price is lower, they'll beat it by 25%. Don't expect anything other than EXACTLY what you booked in terms of room features, included breakfast, etc.
