    Amazing hotel !

What an amazing hotel ! Staff are really friendly and accommodating. The food was lovely and well prepared. Only thing I would say is could have more entertainment on in the evening. Just because the hotel is quite isolated away from the main town. When the entertainment finishes at 10.30, there is nothing else to do. Overall great experience, would go back 👍

    Very Disappointing Experience

We have just returned home after 11 nights in a Preferred Club Double Sea View room, unfortunately, it was not the quiet, relaxing holiday we had anticipated. The Good Points All the staff were very pleasant and helpful (even though they always seemed short staffed in the restaurants) and always particularly helpful on Reception. It was quite chilly on a nighttime, mainly due to the cold winds, and when I mentioned this at reception, the young lady (I think her name was Anna) offered us blankets and a portable heater, which were delivered to the room within 1 hour! Much appreciated. Housekeeping were very thorough and made sure we had all toiletries etc. fully replenished every day. It was my husbands birthday whilst we were there, and a young man (with a trolley) delivered a little birthday cake for him! Nice thought from the hotel. Now for the Downsides On arrival when we were taken to our room, there was a bucket just outside of our door, to catch water dripping from the ceiling! We were assured that all would be sorted by maintenance and it would be gone in a couple of days. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We could quite often hear the water dripping though the night and also had to ring reception a few times to let them know that the bucket was overflowing! To such an extent, this was a potential slip hazard! The bucket was still there catching water when we left. On entering our room, we were shown the balcony (extremely disappointed with the size) but when the patio door was opened, it made such a screeching noise, it was embarrassing! Rather than wait for someone from maintenance to come, we oiled it ourselves, as we could not subject our neighbours to that noise every time the door was opened! Also, the opening/locking mechanism for the patio door is really difficult to use and a handle of some description would be of benefit. In general, the room we had is in desperate need of a total refurbishment. In brief, the shower/toilet area is very grubby looking, mainly because of old sealant and grout. If there is an extractor fan in that area, it doesn’t work. A lot of the towels were paper thin and often had holes in them. Hinge missing from the wardrobe door, making it noisy when it “drops” on opening. Laundry bag totally disintegrated when I tried to use it! Holes in the curtains, which were mainly visible in the early morning. We also returned to our room one morning after being out about 1 and a half hours, to find both handbasin taps running on hot, and on full. Housekeeping had no idea who or why the taps had been turned on. Quite worrying. Moving on, the sun beds in the Preferred Club area could also do with upgrades, as many have broken backs meaning they cannot be altered into the various positions. Also, the chairs in Portifino’s could do with cleaning as they all have dirty marks along the backs and arms. Now for our biggest complaint. Our room was on the 4th floor, near to the end of the corridor. Because of the infrastructure of the hotel, the corridors are noisy to begin with, and all sounds carry and echo tremendously. Even when beds are being made, the scraping noise of the beds being moved is unbearable. But the worst thing was having to endure the incessant traffic of “trolleys”, whether it was from housekeeping, luggage, room service with the clinking bottles, or even food being transported to/from Oceana, ALL of them have wheels, and all of them passed our room to get to or from the lift, making their presence know well before they got to our door, no matter the time of day or night!! As a result of this, out of our 11 nights, my husband managed a total of 3 nights sleep, we were just waiting for the next trolley to come along! Unfortunately, I doubt we will return to this hotel, and until things have been improved throughout, i.e. rooms refurbished, broken tiles replaced, leaking ceilings fixed, noisy trolleys addressed, you will continue to have problems. It’s good to look like a 5* hotel on the outside and in the entrance, but everything else should also be up to 5* standard. This is certainly not the standard we are used to.

    Relaxing stay

Hotel is 4 star not 5 No activities during the day and 45 minutes at night which was mediocre The reception staff went above & beyond when I had walking difficulties and provided a wheelchair service whenever it was needed Breakfast buffet was amazing, just disappointed there was no smoked salmon (unless I missed it) Overall a relaxed stay but not sure I would return as hotel is quite isolated

    Mediocre at Best

Pretty shocking experience, I came as a solo traveller and paid over £2000 to stay in a luxury hotel with extras. I have been trying all week to extend my room booking to avoid having to check out at 11:00am. After trying desperately to arrange this I have just had to chase again to be told that it’s not possible, but, they do have a courtesy room I can use until 12:00pm. So as a solo traveller, I have to vacate my room at 11am and wait in the foyer until my coach arrives at 16:00. Definitely would not recommend this hotel. The mattresses are like sacks of concrete, and after a pitiful sleep you wake with dead arms and legs. The food is mediocre at best and nothing is hot, luke warm is the temperature the ‘hot’ meals are served at. The pool area has seen better days and the flaking paint and uneven surfaces are not attractive. There is nothing to do and the 5 minute visit from the resort rep wasn’t worth the effort of climbing the stairs. When you weigh up the cost of this holiday against what you receive, I would highly recommend you look elsewhere.
