Sep 16, 2025Hotel Rumbao was a wonderful place to stay in San Juan!
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Rumbao in San Juan, Puerto Rico! Sarah at the Front Desk was super nice and even put us in an upgraded room from what we booked - which we truly appreciated!! It was so nice! The hotel's location was perfect for our cruise that we would be leaving on the next day - we were within a short walking distance to the pier. We had a fantastic view of the waterfront and could see our cruise ship from our sliding glass doors that opened to a small balcony. Another plus was that there was a Walgreen's in the same building as the hotel so if you needed or forgot anything, it was easy to go get what you needed. The location was perfect for other shopping areas, too! We would definitely recommend Hotel Rumbao and will stay there the next time we are cruising out of San Juan again. Big thanks to Sarah for everything she did!!

Great Stay in Old San Juan
This hotel is located in the perfect location in Old San Juan close to historic sites, restaurants and shopping. It offers beautiful views of the bay, the old city and Fort San Cristobal. The hotel's restaurant offers excellent food with a focus on Puerto Rican flavors, and on weekends they have live music. Overall the team at Hotel Rumbao is amazing and it was great experience!

Excellent stay for 4 nights!
We were in an own for the weekend to attend the Bad Bunny concert and stayed here because a friend highly recommended it. The Hotel was excellent and had a great view of the harbor and docks and the historic old fort. All the staff were super friendly. We ate dinner and breakfast at the restaurant there, but of both I think breakfast was better. They also have a breakfast buffet, but didn’t end up trying it. We would absolutely go back there again on a future trip to Old San Juan.

The place is clean and beautiful. Customer service for the most part had been great , like people like Fernando make your experience the best. But employees like Wanda ( the host of the Kueros restaurant during breakfast) makes you not want to come back. It’s a shame . She treats customer like she is scolding them, frustrated and very rudely. In my case she was telling me in a rude way and loudly that my breakfast didn’t include hot foods. I’m a customer that had stayed their monthly for business over the last two years. Now I’m definitely changing hotels unfortunately where I’m not stressed out.

The problems with this hotel are: 1. housekeeping is poor and they don’t clean your room upon request 2. you have to beg for towels since they don’t clean the room and refresh the towels 3. very very NOISY. Drilling was happening outside in the mornings throughout the week 4. the carpet smells like it’s old and moldy. Needs to be replaced or deep cleaned 5. my pillows smelled dirty … housekeeping didn’t change the linens which made me wonder if they had changed the sheets. 6. overcharged me for the stay with no explanation as to why there was an overpayment
