Hilton Grand Vacation Club - going downhill??

This message is specifically for Hilton Grand Vacations Dept: We stayed here for a week in July, booking thru RCI. We were given a great unit in Bldg 6 which was recently renovated. I decided to add on a few nights using my Hilton Grand Vacation timeshare points. Unfortunately, we were asked to move out of the refurbished unit into another building (3). It was quite a shock to see the difference in the 2 units. I would have thought that an owner would have been assigned into a better unit. I bought into Hilton so I would not have to stay in this kind of room. See attached photos. I did call Hilton customer support upon my return home, they asked me to send them some pictures of our unit, but it's been several weeks and I was never contacted about it again. Not too happy...

    Make the Point Great (Again)

I just returned from Kauai, where I stayed at the Point at Poipu once again. As a timeshare owner for the past 10+ years, we (family of three) stay at either Kaanapali Beach Club when in Maui or The Point when in Kauai. Overall, The Hilton company just needs to spend money on these two properties, but especially at The Point. As all the negative reviews here mention, most of the units are old and outdated, almost to the point of feeling "gross." There is absolutely no excuse for carpet in this type of situation (hot, humid, wet, sandy, heavy public use with a culture of NOT removing shoes when indoors). As with any renovation, Hilton needs to upgrade everything in the kitchen and bathrooms of every unit. As of August 2025, buildings 6 and 10 are renovated, and building 9 is undergoing renovations. I took a peak inside a renovated unit and it appears they did away with carpet, so good job there. However, it's not just the dwelling units. This is what I observed in my 7 days at the point: stucco falling off the exterior of certain buildings, peeling paint all over the property, broken sauna in the weight room, broken equipment in the weight room, absolutely disgusting yoga mats in the weigh room, broken fresh water nozzles on the showers by the pool, broken jets in the hot tub next to the pool, which is more like a warm tub and not a hot tub, crumbling cement slab in "Cultural Garden" area, increasingly browning grass on the grounds with each passing year. I spent most of my days exploring all over the island, so this is just what I observed when I was on the property during the daytime. As an owner, at the bare minimum, here's what I'd like to see Hilton do to restore some pride and be competitive with the lovely Grand Hyatt right next door: finish renovating every unit in every building, fix everything I mentioned above, because detail-oriented people do notice these things. The new ocean-front construction is already obstructing what was once nice view, so when that's done figure out some landscaping options to make the view more palatable. As a bonus: expand towel hut offerings to include more pool/beach merchandise, expand activities center offerings, maybe add a little shop in the lobby that offers drinks and snacks and common items vacationers might forget when packing. Back home, I take pride in owning and running my properties and as such I invest heavily in them. I give my tenants a lovely place to call home. It's time Hilton takes some pride in what could be an absolute gem in the Point at Poipu. Hilton should invest as much money in the property as possible; give it some love and attention. Give your guests a lovely place to call home away from home.

    Struggle Bus

Our family has been a member of this specific timeshare unit for nearly 20 years. It has changed management (Diamond..Embassy Suites, and now Hilton). We call this our home away from home, so writing this review pains me. Unfortunately the place has gone downhill quickly. While they are slowly renovating certain buildings, the others are in bad shape. Worn out carpet, chipped tile, old appliances (washer stopped working while we were there - they did replace it after some time), mismatched touch-up paint, air conditioners that struggle to cool the units and leak onto the carpet, and the WORST - a lot of bugs aka cockroaches. I fully expect to see some given the loocation, but this was the most we have seen in the units at any one time and it doesn't appear they have any control on the issue. I truly hope the updates and renovations move quickly, and solve some of the issues, as this place has so much potential (friendly staff, large units, close to the beach, etc). But, given all of the other timeshares in the area (Marriott is literally a block away and the beautiful Hyatt mere steps away) as well as vacation condos, Hilton is going to really need to step-up their game to remain competitive and draw people back here.

relaxing vacation at The Point at Poipu Kauai

We stayed a week here as part of an exchange we did. We had a 2 bedroom unit and it was very comfortable. Check in was a breeze and we were able to check in early. The spacious unit had the washer/dryer in the room and a balcony. The resort has a nice large pool, and fairly large size spa. There was a separate adult only spa in another part of the resort, which was nice. The resort has bbq grills throughout the complex and everything appeared to be well maintained (we saw the grills and pools being cleaned every single day). Parking was always available. There was a resort fee, which was kind of on the higher side, but more or less normal these days. There was pretty much no pressure to attend a "presentation" (concierge, asked, I declined and that was it).

    No ocean view

Hi. Hilton honors member here and a consistent diamond status for 18 years now. First, don’t bother paying extra for the ocean view. There are homes being built that is blocking the property’s ocean view. So there is NO ocean view but a construction view. Second, diamond status is not recognized so don’t expect free breakfast. However, you’ll still earn points. Third, this property is outdated. They still have VHS and Blue-ray in the TV stand. Carpet is old, cabinets and bathrooms are old.
