I expect more from a Hilton.
This hotel is better than average, but when I pay $600 a night at a Hilton, I expect much better than average. The room was clean, but I don’t think it has been upgraded in 30 years. The could is worn and a little dirty. The carpet has stretched and needs to be replaced. The tile flier was chipped and the cabinets are worn. They placed is just tired. Maybe they have started upgrading other units but they don’t offer a discount for the old worn out rooms. Maybe ask the conditions of the room before accepting it. I expect more from a Hilton and especially at $600 a night

Second Bedroom on a 2-Bedroom Unit - TINY
Hilton Vacation Club The Point at Poipu Kauai is an old resort. We rented a 2 bed room kitchen unit. We did not know the resort is going thru renovations. We had a unit that was yet to be remodeled. Carpets were worn. No A/C in the living or dining room area of the unit. The rooms had window A/C units that blew cool air right on top of the bed since the second room is very small. Could only acommandate a double bed, so I ended sleeping on a pull out in the living room. Even with the planned remodel, who ever gets the second bedroom will not be happy.

This Resort Has Gone Downhill so We'll Never Stay Here Again!
Hilton has really ruined this resort. We've been coming here for 18 years. First it was Embassy then Diamond and now Hilton. We saw it going downhill but this last stay was the worst. Not only are the rooms outdated but things didn't work. The worst was the air in the master bedroom. It was shaking all night long and made such a loud noise we couldn't sleep. The 2nd night we turned it off so we could sleep but then it was too hot. The same happened in the 2nd bedroom. The paint was chipping all over the resort-not just chipping but chunks missing. The screen door didn't work. The towel hut never had set hours so constantly had to walk to front desk to get clean towels. Even then, towels not cleaned but stained. Sadly we will never stay here again. We're now staying at the Grand Hyatt where the rooms, resort and service are top notch!

Outdated
Resort is dated and in process of being updated, however, the updates do not change the dark/dingy feel of the rooms. Private homes are being built along the ocean that will significantly deteriorate any rooms with ocean views. There is no beach.

Not a good deal.
We bought a $99 Orlando vacation contingent upon listening to the timeshare presentation. They offered us Kauai for an additional $700 for 4 nights, 5 days so we took it. Much to our dismay when we arrived we learned we were not staying at the timeshare property (like we were told during the initial sales pitch), we were booked at the Hilton Garden Inn which is about 30 minutes away and not a good experience. The presentation went well, Guillermo was very courteous and professional as was Gary and the manager. Not really any high pressure and took about 1.5 hours. We have stayed at the Marriot Vacation Club and Grand Hyatt on the island and they were much nicer even though the rooms at the Grand Vacation timeshare had been completely renovated.. Bottom line we spent $800 for 4 nights and stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which goes for about $250 a night normally. Not really a steal price wise. Beware if you got suckered into the $99 Orlando deal and are thinking about changing destinations for more money, Kauai is not your best deal.
