    Beautiful

The hotel is beautiful, the beach is gorgeous, and the food is good; however, there is a lack of variety. But the true star of Allegro is definitely the staff’s attention and service. They are very kind, efficient, and make you feel at home. I would especially like to highlight Fernanda from Guest Services, who was always attentive to our needs and helped us immediately solve the issues we had at the front desk. I would also like to highlight the service provided by Humberto and the staff who welcome guests at the buffet. Thank you all for making our stay excellent. We will definitely be back.

    Surprised and impressed daily

I’ve been coming here for years. The hotel has never been this great. The Staff works like a ballet company with skill and coordination. Their high morale can only be achieved from the top down, so kudos to management. The food.. it’s been upgraded somehow. The chef, the cooks the servers all work to maintain a high standard.. it’s just better than it has ever been. The grounds, the beach, the rooms..all excellent.. with all this going for it the value is outstanding. There is all kinds of fun up and down the beach.

    Not a 4* resort

Heads up , there is no ac, just a thermostat on the wall. Hot water runs out daily. Roof is made of hay/straw so room smells either mouldy ( when it’s sunny) or like wet hay ( after it rains). Very hard on those with hay fever. Staff is very attentive once you tip them. We did 5$ us every meal. Beach is amazing, pool area always had empty chairs , so none of the rush in the morning to save seats was needed.

    Great place with amazing staff

Lovley hotel, food and beverages 24/7, (alcohol 11am- 2am). Bed was so comfy, rooms needs an update but plenty of space for your stuff. It does the job. Plenty of entertainment in the front pool in the daytime, quizzes, beachball, bingo, aqua aerobics. The quiet pool is nice if you don’t want to participate. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool and beach. Security 24/7 watching the beach and walk around the hotel grounds. The street the hotel is on is a private road with check points both street entrances so we felt safe Unfortunately there was some very lazy people that didn’t take their plates or cups/glasses back to the bar and left rubbish. The staff cleaned up their mess however. If you do have left over food the seagulls will surround you! There is 2 ladies that serve drinks on the beach from the hotel, they are fantastic. However they hold all the drinks on the tray and remember who ordered what I will never know. Always had a smile, always pleasant and polite. You do get a lot of sales people on the beach, just trying to make a living I suppose selling jewellery and pots etc, (I got ripped off with a vape that worked for half hour, didn’t see the guy again) they do get on your nerves but they don’t pester you into buying stuff.. parasailing, jet skis and yachts are all on the beach but £80 for half hour on the jet skis. Canoes are free if your all inclusive. There are lots of trips to go on. We found that the guys in red t-shirts with clip boards, that walk on the beach are the best ones to book with and prices are cheaper than other sources. They give you a tex with all details on as well as them on a receipt We booked one with them that included horseback riding, Cenote in a cave, zip lines, lunch and avt’s. Wow that was amazing day. They show you a Mayan ritual , you have your own guide, Caesar was amazing and told us history about the mayans. The horses are well looked after too. There is also guys in bright green tops that sell tickets for a place called coco bongo. This a show where the film the mask was done. They are really nice guys but we decided not to go as we’re bit to old for partying till early hours lol. The food is lovley, plenty for all tastes. You do have to que to see the man in the morning at 9.30 to book the restaurants for that evening but we found the buffet was enough and the beach bar lunch was very nice too. Christmas buffet was out of this world, they went above and beyond and enough to feed 2 army’s! You can walk the 30 mins to 5th ave or take a taxi which is $150 pesos. The bellboy, Jesus, is more than willing to help you with this or anything else you need. 5th ave is an experience, but lots of shop owners wanting you to go in the shop, just say no unless you want to buy something. You also get sales people on the streets saying “remember me? I’m your waiter from the allegro” as they know what hotel you’re at with the wristband you’re wearing, so be wary!!!! The further down you it’s not so busy. The staff are absolutely amazing. They can’t help you enough, they work so well as a team, they serve you quickly with drinks, clear your plate straight away when you’ve done, tables are reset immediately when guests have left the dinner table. The staff are just not paid enough! If the rumours are correct, they are knocking down the hotel in 2years to rebuild. If the manger wants this new hotel to run like clockwork they need to keep all staff members! I think the domestics could do with a refresher training course, show them how to clean under thing like bedside cabinets, but the bathroom and sink were cleaned ok. The reception people are ok but some looked miserable and not very welcoming. Maybe they need a refresher too! There’s a doctor on site for emergencies but very expensive. I needed antibiotics for a chest infection, he wanted to charge me £150 (gbp) just to take my obs and write a prescription out then I had to pay for my tablets on the top of that! So I ended up going to the pharmacy and got what I knew I needed for £8! Please be careful though as you might self diagnose wrong and make yourself even more poorly. All in all this was a great 3 weeks and the staff made our honeymoon even more special with their helpfulness. Especially Yolanda, shirly, Lucas, Geraldo and others I can’t remember their names, (sorry). They were so polite, helpful, funny and went above and beyond their duties. Thank you to everyone at the hotel! I would stay here again without a doubt.

    Pretty good

Nice beach. Close enough to town to walk there. Lots of families. We liked it. It would be better if they had a Lobby bar. And a better disco.
