Portofino restaurant is the best!
The Italian restaurant Portofino had amazing food and even better service. Our server Cristian went above and beyond for us and made our experience one we will never forget!

Absolutely Wonderful Staff
We have been to Bahia Principe in Mexico twice a year for 10 years, staying at the Grand Coba section and the Luxury Akumal section. We absolutely love it. The main reason we keep returning are the staff. Without exception, they are all wonderful. They make the holiday for us. It is the only hotel we have ever stayed at anywhere in the world where they are so amazing and so happy. They work so hard but always greet you and talk to you and help you with a genuine smile, you can have a laugh and bit of banter with them yet they are utterly professional and they go out of their way to help. Despite most of the staff speaking quite food English, I have been trying to learn a bit of Spanish. The staff are delighted to help if I ask. And some have even tried teaching us a bit of Mayan when we asked. We were there when the Coba lobby caught fire. The staff went out of their way to help guests and also to set up a temporary buffet at the snack bar until the lobby and its buffet restaurant were repaired. I cannot thank them enough. They must have been so shaken up too, yet got on and prioritised guest experience. The maids - well, they work so so hard behind the scenes and rarely get a mention or a thank you, or any recognition from guests who walk on past them as if they are invisible. I always say hello, albeit in very bad Spanish. Just the simple human to human recognition brings a smile to their face every time. So far we have only ever stayed in one the un-renovated rooms. The maids do an exceptional job keeping the rooms clean. Yes the un-renovated rooms are looking their age, but cleanliness is more important to us than how a room looks. Lets face it, we only use the room for sleeping so in the grand scheme of things it's decor does not matter to us. The buffets serve a surprisingly large variety of food and even the fussy eaters in the family find something to eat. As the younger family members have grown we've been eating at the al la carte restaurants. We've never had a bad meal nor bad service. We will be back in November/December and cannot wait.

Amazing Vacation – Thank You to the Whole Team!
It was our first time in Mexico, and thanks to Bahia Principe Grand Coba, we truly fell in love with this beautiful country. The resort is cozy, well-kept, and full of genuinely kind people — from reception and shuttle drivers to the restaurant staff. A huge thank you to the entertainment team — you’re amazing! So energetic, fun, and thoughtful. Every activity was well organized, and the Mexican Fiesta was a true highlight — colorful, lively, and full of joy. You created a fantastic atmosphere every day! We also want to thank the wonderful Kids Club team. Our daughter absolutely loved the activities — tennis, crafts, piñatas, painting, and the sweet kids’ shows with costumes and face painting. She didn’t want to leave! We’re deeply grateful to the entire team for your warmth, talent, and dedication. You made our vacation magical and unforgettable. Thank you!

Nice place, great staff but a bit too crowded and a total rip off of a Mexican Fiesta
Great location, good concept and accomodations, but way too overcrowded at the Coba resort, the all inclusive buffet was constantly running out of food, there were long queues to even enter the restaurant at peak hours. Service staff was always helpful and friendly. The Mexican Fiesta was a complete rip-off though! Do not pay for it! Asada Tacos were pretty lame, esquites were completely un-edible, went directly to the garbage bin, there were long queues for everything, but really, the food was the worst we had in the whole trip. Also, the prehispanic dance/“representation” was disgustingly inaccurate even for a dance “show”. The mariachi was good, and so were the other dance acts, but the lame food and terrible aztec/mayan/hollywood section of the dance really made those 25 bucks feel worse than wasted.

Another great holiday in Mexico 🙂
Thank you to all of the team in Mexico for another great holiday. Although we have been here many times before it didn’t disappoint. Food plentiful with loads of variety and always possible to get a good meal. Rooms very clean but looking slightly dated which looks like being addressed as some renovation work visible. Entertainment staff all amazing with huge smiles and made the whole family feel extra welcome and a joy to be around. Extra shout to Antonio for all the kindness he showed my son with dancing and Spanish lessons.
