I have hosted perhaps a half dozen events at Barcelo Sto Dgo. The entire process from reservations to check-in to Banquetes to housekeeping through check-out is consistently top-notch. I always feel very well looked after in every department. Next event is already planned.

Amazing 10/10 I recommend our waiter was super good. Her name was Niroska Gomez. The food was great like always. We all enjoyed it

I really liked the hotel, they provide good service, the food was very good, if someone would like to come to Santo Domingo, come and enjoy yourself at the Barcelo Hotel in Santo Domingo, if you find the supervisor Arianni Mendez, she will give you good service, she is really friendly.

The lobby had al the grandeur of a 4 star hotel. The staff speaks English and are very helping and kind. The room had carpet which is so dirty we couldn't walk barefoot on it, without getting black feet. Our kids have a rash after staying here. It developed the last night of our 4 night stay, and is still there now. The room is very dated.

We had a deeply disappointing experience at Barcelo Santo Domingo. My elderly mother became sick after eating the hotel food, and she was so unwell and distrustful of the dining options that she decided to check out early. At the front desk, we were told the refund for the unused nights would be processed, even after checking with a supervisor. The staff member even went to the back, reassured us multiple times, and confirmed that the refund would be issued within a few days. Fast forward three months later, we still hadn’t received the refund. Despite multiple attempts to contact the hotel, they are now refusing to honor what was promised. This is extremely frustrating and disappointing, especially considering the circumstances involving an elderly guest’s health. Beyond this serious issue, the hotel itself is subpar. The rooms have a persistent unpleasant smell, the bathrooms are outdated, and both the shower and toilet had constant problems. The entire facility feels neglected and poorly maintained. Between the broken promises, lack of accountability, and unacceptable room conditions, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone — especially not for families traveling with seniors or anyone expecting basic standards of cleanliness and hospitality.
