Unfortunately not good
visited this resort 3rd time within 3 years and lots of things changed not in a good way compared for previous 2 visits. Check-in: upon arrival after hotel check-in time, we were told that one of two our rooms is not ready and I have to wait an hour for room. No welcome drinks were offered and we noticed that plenty of other people were waiting for their rooms to be ready. Once my room was ready shortly after 1.5 hours of waiting, the room itself looked dated and wasn’t properly cleaned since I noticed some long hairs on the floor and in the bathroom. Food: Caribe buffet could be named as the worst buffet in Punta Cana - poor food choices, either over salted and/or over cooked foods. Lots of flies sitting on the prepared foods and no one cares about that. As result of bad hygiene in this buffet, I fell ill on 3rd day of staying there with severe diarrhea and fever that took 4 days to heal. Service in Caribe buffet is hit or miss, you can wait for one spoon forever and may not get it during your lunch time. In past, we always loved to eat at La Brisa for dinners, however, this time we went there only once, food quality was not as good as it was before, so we never went back there during our 2 weeks stay. Chez Gourmet has fabulous menu, food was OK, nothing impressive, but 4 course service took 2 hours and 10 minutes. This time we skipped thematic restaurants at the Palace since we tried them last year and didn’t wanted to return to either Coral or Santa Fe restaurants. Miramar buffet has lots of food choices, everything looks delicious but when you make your first bite into these foods, you’ll get huge disappointment since it’s over cooked or over salted. Good place for kids since their dessert station is huge and offers plenty of cakes. Also to mention, that there is very strong sewage smell at the Miramar buffet, we noticed that smell every single day we went there for dinner. In my opinion, Bohio bar at the pool had best people working there, at least they don’t have any attitude like in Caribe buffet and in Mamey bar. It seems that management decided not to do any mosquito treatment anymore since there are tons of mosquitoes after sunset and plenty of people complaining about that. On the positive side, pool is good, beach is clean and good too. After this year visit, we will not come back to this place again since it was clear that quality and service level went down drastically, and this resort needs lots of improvement in food quality and hospitality.

Nothing to write about.
Everything was average. The rooms were outdated and the seevice was at best poor to average. Food temperature was cool to warm. As well as the water.

Good and Not so good, part 2
This was our 2nd visit to this resort. We reserved 2 rooms for 3 guests at Premium Level. Check in seemed smooth, only 1 room was ready, we checked in at 12:30pm, no problem. We were told what room number the other room would be and told it would be ready around 3pm. We went to the pool/beach and enjoyed ourselves. Around 4:30-5:00 we went back to our rooms. We were able to get into the 2nd room with our wristband but found another guest already in the room! There was obvious confusion, we apologized to the other guest and immediately returned to the Premium lounge and informed them of what happened. They did not seemed surprised or shocked by our story and simply commented that they had changed our 2nd room number. There wasn’t even an apology from them for the confusion. Once we got into the correct rooms, everything in the rooms was very nice, beds are comfortable, a/c works great, rooms are clean. The pool areas are very well maintained, they work very hard to keep the beach clean from seaweed. The bars/buffets were good, although the pool bar ran out of all its vodka one day. Maria at the buffet was wonderful, as were Angel at the lobby bar and Juan at the pool bar. We did go to Strikers Sports bar at the Palace side and were very disappointed that they no longer served ‘baby beers’😢. I will list the restaurants we visited in order of best to worst: LaBrisa was excellent, food was great, service was great. Kyoto was also great, La Comedie was very good, Chez Gourmet was OK, food was good, but service was very slow and they do not offer a full bar. La Fuente was a disappointment, the food was ok but our experience with the manager was awful. Finally, the trains that take you from the Beach to Palace, I wish they would think of a better way to identify where the trains are headed next, language can be a barrier some times and a sign on the train would’ve been nice.
