It's a good place to enjoy with family. Unfortunately some restaurants needs reservation. It's better to call to make reservation before your visit.

Great food and friendly staff
We’ve been coming here for ten straight years. It has its ups and downs like every resort, but the staff is consistently friendly and welcoming. I can’t say enough about the service we received from Darwin Perez at the Coral Grill for lunch and breakfast. He always remembered our coffee and drink orders and paid close attention to our needs. I would recommend him for a manager position without hesitation! Also, a big shout-out to Eduard and Mayra Poot at the adults-only pool bar. A friendly smile and warm hello every day. Numero uno!

Family vacation
The resort is huge with many facilities. We spent a week there with no dull moments. The food is very good with plenty of options

Overall stay was phenomenal and would've given a higher rating except for an incident that occurred with reservations affecting our departure after checking out. We arranged airport shuttle service through the resort when we originally made our reservation. We provided them with our departure date and flight information, but due to the way the reservation department handled my extension request, I ended up with two checkout dates. This initially caused the resort to skip our room for cleaning because they thought we had checked out when we had one additional day at the resort. The bigger issue was when we actually checked out and our shuttle did not come to pick us up because the resort had sent the shuttle a day prior because our extension request was not properly handled causing a confusion with our check out date. We were blamed for missing the shuttle that was sent on a wrong date and no one was really willing to listen or help us out. We were left to figure things out on our own and eventually paid additional $196 (US) for a cab when we had already paid around $168 for the shuttle with our room reservation. Needless to say that our issue was handled poorly.

No reservations available at any restaurant from day 1 of our vacation!!
Currently at The Barcelo Maya Palace and can’t get a reservation at any restaurant. We’ve had this trip planned since the summer. Very disappointing!! The hotel is clearly over booked. The management needs to do something about this ASAP!
