An Unforgettable Experience at Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa
Our stay at Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa was truly exceptional, and so much of that is thanks to the incredible staff who went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. A huge thank-you to Frida, Christian, Cristian, Alfredo, Roger, Charly Boy, Geraldo Zamudio, Jorge Garcia, and Nahian for their warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. Every interaction was filled with kindness, attention to detail, and a sincere desire to make sure we felt welcomed and cared for. Special recognition goes to Manny from the entertainment team, who brought amazing energy, fun, and unforgettable vibes every single day — the resort simply wouldn’t be the same without him. Daniel at the pool bar was outstanding, consistently serving top-tier drinks with a smile and remembering our preferences, which made pool days even more enjoyable. We also want to commend Javier from security, who made us feel safe and comfortable at all times while remaining friendly and approachable — a perfect balance of professionalism and warmth. Girls trip for a bachelorette party
If I could give the pool wait staff a 5 star review I would! However, I had cash stolen from our room the very first day upon arrival literally within a couple of hours setting an awful tone for the trip. After check in, we went into our room got ready to go to the pool and left our room not locking (or even closing the safe fully) where I placed my wallet w/ cash, credit cards, ID, my federal agent gold card, my passport and an envelope of more cash in singles. We were NOT expecting anyone in our room since we just arrived, so no housekeeping was necessary. I took $6 from the $50 of singles in the envelope so there was $44 left. I also had a $100 bill 5 $10s and 5 $5s in my wallet which I left in the safe. We closed the door and made sure our door locked. We left the room around 3pm and came back around 6pm. When we got back to change for dinner. We started to get ready and right when we were leaving I went back into the safe to grab more cash for tipping and immediately noticed the safe was closed. I grabbed the envelope first and realized that it wasn’t as thick as before so I counted the cash and realized $10 of singles were missing. So then I counted again just to be sure - then I checked my wallet and right away saw that the $100 bill was gone and 3 $10s were missing as well! At that point all I had take from my cash was only $6. I then took another $5 out of what was left of my missing cash I was rushing to dinner so I couldn’t take this upon concierge as I was trying to enjoy celebrating the vacation for my best friends bachelorette party and I didn’t wana ruin everyone I went there with’s time. I figured I will double check everything again later that evening. Upon double checking again, still the same conclusion- $140 of cash was missing. My wallet clasp was broken and the safe was tampered with as I noticed the handle was cracked!! It wasn’t cracked when I placed my stuff there. First thing next morning I spoke with concierge it was a female. Who then got security involved and they all came to our room after I filed a Report with them. They changed our battery in the door lock (which remained red the entire stay) and switched out our safe and went through all of our belongings. Their Reply was “guests sometimes misplace their stuff and then they find it later on” Which definitely was not my case as I just got there and know what money I brought with me in cash. After they couldn’t find the money missing in our room. They said they would get back to us within 48-72 hours. By this point, we were already robbed of our time during this “investigation” on top of the cash missing! 48 hours go by and I haven’t heard from anyone at hote so I went to them and asked for an update. They told me to come back later in the afternoon around 2pm when the security manager was there. So that’s what I did Only to be told there was no evidence of any unauthorized entry of our room w/in those hours. And since there was no “evidence” they couldn’t do anything about it. I wasn’t allowed to obtain a record of the cards swiped for entry in our room between those hours - apparently only for the hotel security. This is my second time at this resort and I feel terrible referring this place to my friends and having experienced this theft, the inconvenience, our safety compromised, and dampening the trip. I will not be visiting this resort again and nor will I recommend it to anyone. I will also be reaching out to Hyatt as told by concierge since Breathless can’t do anything more to escalate the matter to higher/Hyatt management. No accountability whatsoever! This is a very poor reflection on Breathless Riviera Cancun and Hyatt umbrella. Highly disappointed. POINT being, nobody should be going in our room with no authorization. And even if we had jewelry or cash laying around we should feel safe enough to not worry about anything being stolen when we leave OUR room while on vacation!! So Be very careful leaving anything valuable in the open So if you have an expensive bag or shoes that don’t fit inside the safe, it could get stolen too!

STAY ANYWHERE ELSE
WOW this was a ROUGH stay. I travel a lot and this has to rank among the worst properties I’ve stayed at. So many things went wrong that it became a running joke. I’ll start with the couple good things: the rooms felt clean and safe, which is important. Now for the bad: - Check in took almost an hour. Our stay was broken into 2 reservations and that caused some drama. They tried to upgrade us for just the first night and told us we’d have to change rooms. We tried to decline the upgrade, so they said we could pay for the upgrade for the rest of our stay. We didn’t want to so we declined again and eventually they said we could upgrade for the entire stay. I cared more about keeping the same room than an upgrade - We had booked a king bed but when we got “upgraded” it put us in a room with 2 beds. Neither bed is big enough to fit 2 people comfortably, so my husband and I slept in separate beds. - Our room was near wherever they did the dishes so we could hear the clattering of cutlery and trays being rolled past all. night. long. Other people said their rooms were loud very late from partying/karaoke so I don’t know if there are any truly quiet rooms. - The food was BAD. Despite it being an all inclusive resort, I think I lost weight because most of the food was no good. I would have rather eaten at Olive Garden than the Italian restaurant. The French restaurant was fine, but my creme brûlée dessert had the consistency of scrambled eggs and made me want to gag. The Nook coffee shop’s espresso machine was broken for half our stay. The hibachi restaurant was the best place we ate at. - We went to the concierge to get help booking the hibachi restaurant reservation and she just showed us how to download the app and do it ourselves. Really wished we’d had real customer service - probably would have been faster. - I went to use one of the bathrooms by the pool and every stall was out of toilet paper. - I ordered a shirley temple and got grenadine with sparkling water (gross - I had to re-order it). - We were working from our room on this trip and the party pool music was so loud during the day it was very distracting and annoying. - There are a lot of raccoons around. You’re not supposed to feed them but people do so they hang around waiting for food. Admittedly party pools and on-site night clubs are NOT my vibe (we were here for a wedding) but even if it is your thing, there’s definitely better resorts out there.

Average stay
My wife and I just got back from our trip celebrating her 40th birthday. We both agree that the resort was average with pros and cons but likely wouldn’t go back. The service was good and the staff was friendly however the food at most of the restaurants was average to poor. The drinks and bar staff were really good tho and the pool activities towards the weekends made the pool experience much better than sandals trips we’ve been on before. Not a lot to do besides the pool during the day tho as the beach is a no go. We did enjoy the beach yoga sessions a couple mornings. Our room was nice however the huge shower produced like warm water for an unpleasant experience most days.
