- Other Local AttractionsAltos de Chavon artists village is a vibrant cultural community perched above the Chavon River. cobblestone paths, coral stone fountains and terra cotta buildings create a magical effect in this village designed by Roberto Coppa, an Italian architect who at the time was a Paramount movies set designer. He built Altos de Chavon in the late 1970s to emulate a 15th century southern Italy-southern Spain village. Visitors today discover craft workshops, artists’ studios, galleries and restaurants. Weddings are frequent at the St. Stanislaus Church, as few places can be more romantic than Altos de Chavon. The performing arts are showcased in the village’s 5,000-seat amphitheatre, inaugurated in 1982 by Frank Sinatra and is still attracting top name performers. Visit the Regional Museum of Archaeology, a small but wonderful display of the Island’s rich pre-Columbian heritage. The Art Gallery features contemporary art exhibitions.

⚠️ Unauthorized Credit Card Charge Nearly a Year Later
I stayed at this resort in the last week of August 2024. My account was fully settled at checkout, & I was never told there was any unpaid balance. On August 7, 2025—almost a year later—the resort charged my credit card without any prior notice, invoice, or explanation. The only communication I received was an email after the charge had already posted. I reported the charge as unauthorized. After researching further, it’s clear this is not an isolated incident. Multiple guests report being charged weeks, months, or even over a year after their stay for amounts that were already paid, included, or never explained—often with no apology or resolution. This is extremely concerning for a resort of this caliber. If you choose to stay here, do not leave a credit card on file longer than absolutely necessary & consider cancelling your card after checkout.

You could have more walking trails. The golf course was in fantastic condition with the exception of the hard services on the teeth of the dog, making it difficult for the ball to not roll off the greens. All the service personnel were excellent. The hotel pool was nice and the food was good. The room was clean and well appointed. The only bad experience was the beach which was way too crowded.

Nice but we expected much more
We had great expextations about this place, but unfortunately we found a huge disorganisation. Here are a few examples: - For the first 5 nights it was impossible to find a reservation at any of the restaurants, so we had to eat at the buffet (after spending 2 hours at the concierge desk trying to organise everything). - the teen club had a fantastic program, but in reality the program was almost never followed. For instance, one time they were supposed to play tennis, and they didn’t do it because there was no place available, even though they had programmed it well in advance. The people working there were nice, though. - the service at most restaurants was really poor (always missing cutlery and napkins, wrong or missing ordered dishes). - the tennis courts are in really bad shape and the racket activities are quite expensive. Luckily, the people working there were really nice and understanding. The positive points about the resort are definitely the golf courses, the caddies (nice people and well prepared), the Causa restaurant, with outstanding Peruvian cuisine at the Marina, the fact that they give you a golf cart to go around. I would like to point out our amazing cleaning lady Anairi Rosa, who for 2 weeks took great care of us. The place is more suitable for adults than for kids, since it is huge and not practical for kids to go around by themselves.

Great golf, nice resort, community style resort
We had a very nice vacation, the golf was excellent as the Teeth of the Dog has re-opened. The experience was overall very good. This is not exactly your typical resort, more like a residential/resort community spread over 2800 hectares so you need to use the shuttle service or the personal golf cart that they provide, in order to get to your activities and restaurants. You must reserve all your restaurants (except the buffet Lagos) and your activities, golf tennis etc in advance. The beach is nice but very crowded as it is small but the water and sand are beautiful.
