Stayed in room F107 - we were able to see a school of dolphins from our balcony, it was breathtaking experience.

This was our 3rd stay at a Couples resort; we stayed at Couple Swept Away and Couples Tower Isle. Our room was in block F, located next door to the lobby (very convenient location). The room was super newly renovated and we had a partial ocean view. The resort is small and very intimate; plenty of palapas and daybeds at the beach and in the mineral pool. The walks at the resort are breathtaking, you feel as if you were in a tropical forest. The food is great, the main buffet (near the beach) is very small but had everything you need, food is always very fresh and staff constantly replenishes the chafing dishes (as suppose to larger resorts where food sits for hours in those dishes). Casanova was our favorite restaurant; we had best food at any all inclusive in the Caribbean - kudos to the chef and the staff. Please visit the Java Cafe near the lobby, the barista will make you the best hot or cold coffee you could ask for. My wife and I would like to thank very special people at the resort; big thank you to Kevonne and Chedine for making our stay fantastic one you are very special! We always loved Couples resorts but Sans Souci now has a special place in our hearts, we'll defiantly be back again.

Great trip, but not 5 star

We picked this resort because it seemed to have a low key boutique vibe and it did. We went as a couple to have a fun and relaxing vacation. Keep in mind they a major hurricane about 3 months ago and I kept that in mind. That being said we didn’t feel it lived up to 5 star hotel. We are not 5 star hotel people so we are fine with it. But I think if you advertise as 6 star and don’t up to it, you set yourself up for bad feed back. So for pros- we loved the grounds with beautiful views, beaches and jungles. We loved all the special nooks and crannies we found walking the grounds ( mineral grotto, gazebos, pond, hammocks, and lots of surprise spots to catch a great view. We loved the spa pool with its calm vibe and amazing view. We didn’t use the spa but the spa bungalows were amazing. We loved having pool floats on all the chairs to have a float in the pool or sea (we will steal this idea someday). We took advantage of the scuba class, snorkeling, paddle boards, kayaks, and sea bikes and they had other offerings as well ( another key reason we picked couples). The room was clean and mostly up to par with clean modern furnishings and bathroom. Some of the food was great and we loved having breakfast delivered as our wake up call. The majority of the employees were super friendly. We particularly appreciated the bartender at Balloon bar, Romario and the ladies at the Java cafe. We never had to fight or wait for a chair despite not being early birds. Our room was very convenient with a beautiful side view ( D block). Overall we just had a great time and achieved our goal of relaxing together. Now the cons- the drinks were not consistent in particular at the pool and beach bars. The liquor options were limited and often low quality. The shower was barely warmer than lukewarm 95% of the time. We tried to have this resolved, but we failed. In reality all we really needed was to be told that they could’ve fix the problem and it’s just not consistent. Then we’d at least stop asking about it and move on. The food was also very inconsistent. We had some great meals at each spot, but also some poor ones. Unlike a cruise we felt very awkward asking for something different or extra ( but they did accommodate with hesitancy). They were often out of items ( pizza, ice cream, mainly snacks). We were disappointed that we weren’t told ahead of time that the scuba dive would cost us $80 per person ) still a good deal but they advertise this as an included activity which was a huge reason we picked couples over all teh other AI options). And finally, once we got locked on our balcony and it took nearly an hour to get help even though we immediately notified the first employee we saw walk by. We had no idea if anyone would ever come- this really should have been a priority. Again, we didn’t let the cons ruin our trip, but we are pretty chill people. Overall it’s still a really good value for the price and we had a really great time. I’d go back ( but there’s too many other places to see). But I’d hesitate to recommend this to any of my very particular friends who like to travel at high end properties. I do think expectations could be managed better if they didn’t call this 5 star

Disappointing Communications and Food, but Relaxing Stay

WHO: - newlyweds WHAT: - honeymoon - when choosing our accommodations for our honeymoon, it came down to the vibe we were looking for; for sure we wanted an all-inclusive resort with good reviews and our top 2 choices were either Couples San Souci or Moon Palace; we opted for Couples San Souci due to it being an adults only resort vs. Moon Palace which is family friendly; we wanted to be more relaxed vs. the potential chaotic energy family friendly hotels may bring WHERE: - Ocho Rios WHEN: - Tuesday January 6th 2026 through Saturday January 10th 2026 EXPERIENCE (COMMUNICATIONS): - we booked our stay back in July 2025 for "hotel only" due to the "Advanced Purchase - 5% OFF" special - we knew that our hotel stay included shuttle transportation to/from the airport and resort - once our flights were booked we emailed the hotel our hotel stay confirmation number as well as our flight details (airline, flight # and time); as we got updates from the airline about flight changes, we proceeded to forward those changes to the hotel on July 17th 2025, August 28th 2025, and September 30th 2025 with no acknowledgement of those respective emails - on December 12th 2025 we emailed the hotel again, unsure of whether it was still standing/open after Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica in October/November 2025; again, no response - due to the hotel not being responsive from the original email we were provided, we did proceed to call (no call back) and emailed again, but this time reached out to the Central Reservations Team Leader, Roxana Lipton who sent up an initial response on July 17th 2025 - once we specifically emailed Roxana's work email on December 21st 2025, is when we got a reply on December 22nd 2025 - during our stay, we did receive emails on updates for the Caribbean Festival on January 6th 2026 as well as for the Starlight Gala on January 9th 2026 - during our stay, we had to access the website to contact guest services or retrieve the property brochure EXPERIENCE (TRANSPORTATION): - once we touched down at the airport and went through customs, we informed some airport personnel we were going to Couples - we were then directed to the airport lounge where there was a private restroom and complimentary drinks (water, beer - Red Stripe specifically) and snacks before our shuttle was ready to take us and other Couples patrons to our respective resorts (there's 4 total in Jamaica - depending on which one you're going to, you're placed with others on the route to your respective resort) - our shuttle going to the resort was more like a van with AC that took a LONG time to be felt; we were given the option for a restroom stop for the approximate 2 hour car ride but after everyone's flights, we all collectively opted to power through (for those unfamiliar with the road; it's mainly a 1 or up to 2 lane max pathway the entire way) - upon check-in you're provided with hard copy paperwork like a map of the resort grounds, and a document indicating what time your check-out shuttle departs the resort - our shuttle ride going to the airport was more like a bus and the AC for that was definitely working; it was the only vehicle we were in for any transportation during our stay where the driver actually had a microphone and vehicle speakers for us to hear what he had to say EXPERIENCE (OUR STAY): - FYI this resort is embedded in the side of the hill/mountain; it isn't a collection of towers but rather a collection of smaller buildings that are separated by walking pathways and loads of stairs; make sure to have comfortable shoes! - you're given complimentary champagne and a wet towel upon check-in - each guest is provided with a reusable water bottle for their stay; throughout the resort there is either fruit infused water or refillable water stations and ice machines for you to fill your water bottles up - our room was in the Carnation building as we opted for the Ocean Suite room that had a balcony overlooking the ocean; the room itself was fine; ocean cottage vibes - what disappointed the both of us was the food - mainly unseasoned and felt like it was microwaved vs fresh off the stove/out the oven piping hot; the only decent food was the room service and from Bella Vista that we tried - what was frustrating is that for EVERY restaurant EXCEPT for Palazzina require dinner reservations; you have until a certain time each day to book your dinner reservations - on the property brochure BEACH GRILL, BELLA VISTA & SUNSET BEACH GRILL does NOT indicate that reservations are required, so when we showed up for dinner and were turned away (initially) due to NOT having reservations, it was both disheartening and annoying; they eventually gave us a table but that definitely needs to be updated on the property brochure since as it's currently written is misleading - the bar drinks were alright top; cruise vibes where it gets the job done but they don't have top shelf liquor - the most fun we had was definitely at Sunset Beach/pool area; be aware that Sunset Beach will HURT YOUR FEET if you try to go in the water - the Main Beach is on the smaller side, but very relaxing - mineral pool and mineral jacuzzi felt secluded and have stunning ocean views - we did go to the spa for a massage; FYI it will be in one of their gazebos overlooking the ocean; the ocean sounds are real vs. a recording like other spas - our interactions with the bartenders and housekeeping were overall positive - we usually book excursions prior to trips, but we decided to wait until we were onsite to book through the front lobby, which was great that it's available (for onsite or offsite excursions) - our favorite night entertainment was the singer with the guitar at the beach bonfire COSTS: - any additional costs incurred during our stay was charged to the card on file upon check-out (i.e. souvenirs from the onsite gift shops, photos, spa - massage and products)

Our second visit – we enjoyed it so much last time that we booked for 2 weeks this year before we’d even checked out las

Couples Sans Souci, Ochos Rios, Jamaica. January 2026 Our second visit – we enjoyed it so much last time that we booked for 2 weeks this year before we’d even checked out last time So first let’s say this is a 4.9 out 5 review so I’m giving it a 5* rating with a few small things that could be better We like Couples Sans Souci as it has everything we need without being too formal. Some hotels you feel that you have to be dressed up at all times but here we are always relaxed so let’s go through in detail We had a private transfer from Kingston airport as there was a bit of a screw up last year and I wanted to de-risk that part of the journey. We were met and taken for our 2 hour ride then immediately checked in and we were in our room within 10 minutes of arriving. We met the lovely Danielle (front desk manager) who had helped us with our booking. Rooms – we had a top floor Premier Ocean Suite which is a larger than the regular rooms so much more relaxing to be in. The room is great – a very comfortable big bed and enough room to hang al of our things. Plenty of surfaces to put things on and plenty of USB and power charging points. Fridge and coffee making in room although as an inveterate tea drinker, I take a kettle which has a short lead which only just reaches the coffee make power point. Balcony in the shade with a large lounger bed and table and chairs where we could enjoy the view, have a quiet game of cards or just chill with a cocktail. When it rained there were some leaks in the balcony roof (only a problem on the top floor but compensated for by the better view) Bathroom has a twin accessible shower. Hot water was an issue but after we called maintenance, the nice gentleman turned the heater up and we had no further issues Maid service was immaculate and friendly and full marks to the minibar man (sorry O forgot his name but great guy!) who topped up the minibar daily and delivered a bottle of rum, extra beers and wine as we asked for it. Towels replaced daily. The floor is tiled so we take a non-slip mat with us The grounds are really well kept and nice to walk round. There is a large lake full of turtles and a huge variety of birds. Amongst others, we saw humming birds, a woodpecker, ducks, moorhens, beautiful pigeons, egrets, lots of eagles and over the sea we saw pelicans, gulls, petrels and frigate birds all without binoculars. We did not use the exercise facilities or water sports with the sole exception of the glass bottom boat trip which gets a big fat ZERO rating. Last year his was poor but this year we simply went on a 20 minute round trip. Apparently, we passed over a wreck. I asked about fish but was told that the boat engine scared them away. Perhaps the sensible thing would be to stop the engines and drift over the reef. The result was that we didn’t see a single living thing under the water so you are left wondering why you bothered. The Beach is simply amazing – the best we have ever been on. The resort is set in a bay and there is a sand bar (or maybe a reef) at the end so even at high tide (and its only a 20cm tide) there are no big waves. You can walk out for ever and still not be up to your shoulders. We did not go to the Au Naturel beach as we felt that at 75, no one in their right minds would want to see our non-beach bodies! The sun comes over the top of the resort around 7:30 but as the resort is north facing, sunbathing is facing away from the sea. There are plenty of sun shades on the beach with plenty of loungers. There is a set of small huts at the end of the beach with loos, a small shop, a sea sports shack and a towel store. Also, a few people selling souvenirs – always polite and never hassling you. The spa lady makes a daily trip around the beach to try to get you to book a massage We didn’t use the pool (also we didn’t use the mineral pool or jacuzzi his trip) Bars There are two bars on the beach – one by the pool (which is swim up one side) and one by the beach restaurant. In addition there are two bars at the top of the hotel and one by the breakfast restaurant as well as juice bar by the mineral pool. The drinks do vary by barman but in all cases they are excellent and as strong or weak as you want. When my wife wanted a less sweet fruit punch – hey presto she had it but of course in a different bar or with a different bartender you get a different result. All delicious. A Bellini in the beach bar is quite different to a Bellini in the Palazzini bar. I personally wasn’t keen on any of the white or red wines but the Rose was very acceptable. My wife drank a wine off the wine menu – reasonably priced at $50 but she did have 7 – maybe next year I’ll take a case of her favourite. I was happy drinking the house Rose but they ran out a few days before left so I had to revert to cocktails. Tough call! The Palazzini bar has hard surfaces so it can get quite noisy when there is a group of Americans in there (why were Americans born without a volume control?) Most days we had breakfast at Palazzina – a good buffet with a simply amazing omelette chef. There seemed to be a shortage of bananas but I wonder of this was hurricane damage to the crops. Amazing English muffins (so much nice than any we see in the UK). Lots of variety. The wonderful John serenaded us with his violin 3 days a week over breakfast and also in played in the bar some evenings. Some days we had lunch at the beach grill. I fell in love with their coleslaw – probably the best I’ve had in the world!! And the jerk chicken. We had to skip the buns and bread to save our appetites but the food was so good we had to have lunch. Casanova is wonderful – great menus and super attentive service. We ate there three times and will be booking it for our wedding anniversary next year. It’s just nice to dress up. All the food we ate there was excellent. I wish we had a restaurant like that in Worcester where we live. There were several events on the lawn with a buffet which had a great variety of food and we always found plenty that we enjoyed. One evening it rained and so the eating was in the Palazzini restaurant – we made the mistake of eating outside which was VERY noisy – see bar note earlier). We should have eaten indoors where it was much quieter. We ate at the Beach Grill Asian three times and all were excellent. Just for a break, we ate at Miss T’s in town one night. The hotel organised the cab (Thank you Flattie) who waited at the restaurant until we were finished. If you do go there (which we recommend), the chicken wings were just the best I can ever recall. Super crisp coating without being over battered. My wife had the snapper and I had the Oxtail/Goat curry combo and we both had he excellent rum punch – you can see my separate 5* Trip Advisor review for details The coffee shop is a lovely peaceful break to get out of the sun and just chill The Spa was a bit mixed. My wife had her toenails painted on day one and in her words “the best foot massage she has ever had”. We enquired about a massage and were immediately booked for a 90 minute massage. Beware – the price was not mentioned and tis will set you back in excess of $500. My wife seemed happy but I was very unhappy. The masseuse ignored my statement that my neck and shoulders were stiff. I felt like I was being stroked rather than massaged. When she was doing my head, she was simply rubbing oil in my hair – I don’t believe that she touched my scalp. Some time in I asked if we were almost through because had it been free I would have walked out. The entertainment was mixed. We found a lot of it too loud for our tastes so we went back to the room for a quiet drink on the balcony but that’s us – you may be more party animals. The two I would really comment on are one positive – the cultural show was well done and one negative – the steel band would be 100 times better if they fired the drummer. So in summary we will be booking again for next year and I’ll be suggesting to the hotel that they address these minor issues We highly recommend you go there and see for yourselves.

Shame on this hotel for disturbing the peace of neighbours

All day on January 19th, Sans Souci hosted an event with music on one of their beaches so loud it could be heard all the way down the coast. This rudeness and disrespectful behaviour continued on into the night ending at about 1am with the loudest fireworks display I have ever witnessed. We could not sleep through it. Despite complaints initiated from local hotel management, the Duty Manager at Sans Souci said there was nothing he could do about it. Obviously financial revenue was more important to them than being respectful and responsible neighbours. Shameful behaviour particularly considering the great efforts Jamaicans are taking to encourage the return of visitors post hurricane.
