Worth a stay
A basic 3-star hotel. Generally clean and friendly staff. For an affordable all-inclusive, worth the stay. Food was very good (breakfast and lunch buffet). They keep the pool clean and with various activities that make it fun/relaxing to hang out by the pool. Drinks service also regular and kind waitresses. Location is central to get around Puerto Vallarta. Overall, a good experience.

Solid 3 Star
Booked through Escapes Vacations, flew with Sunwing/Westjet. Flight was on time and from the time of arrival we were at the hotel within the hour. Check in was not great. Got there at about 4:15pm on Saturday, August 9th. Only one lady at check in, we were second in line. Took 25 minutes. Waited another 10 minutes for someone to assist with our luggage to the room but no one helped even though the front desk lady did nothing. Had to wait for 2 elevator rides as locals were not impressed we were trying to take our luggage on the tiny elevator, so we waited. Got to the room. We were staying in a Suite Crown Plus. View was partial of the ocean(could see sunsets) but not the beach area. We overlooked basketball and tennis courts. Room was good. Great double sided vanity, jacuzzi tub, king bed. No complaints other than tv only had 2 english speaking channels, CNN and NFL. Mini fridge had water, beer and pop. I requested a coffee maker and received one which was wonderful as we brought up Baileys each evening and kept in fridge for our coffee in the morning. Realized we did not get our towel cards, so we waited another 25 minutes in line. Other staff would help locals but no one acknowledged us. Beach/ocean - swimmable, not much seaweed, sandy (cannot see in the water) plenty of space for cabana beds or lounge chairs. Bedding on cabana beds not changed till about 8:15 so you would sometimes have to wait. Vendors on beach, absolutely painful. I understand that it is their way to make a living but if you want r&r or any relaxation this is NOT the resort for you. They do have a rope area which we assumed was to keep vendors(as in other resorts we stayed) keep on the other side. Nope, It does not matter if you are sleeping, reading, on the phone, the sales is non-stop from 7:30am-7pm. Bracelets, hats, tattoos, weed, cigars, oysters, shrimp, cups, sunglasses....... Food - buffet was standard for breakfast, can get eggs cooked how you like them. No bacon ever, sausages(which were not good) plenty of fruit, cereal. Lunch was good, always something being cooked fresh in front of you and plenty of salad, fruit and breads. A la carte - the app was easy enough to use. Opened at 9am but you must book no later than 9:15. We were able to book every restaurant but the Italian and Japanese. We walked up to the Italian to see if they would accommodate and they did, so kind and welcoming. Sad we could not get into Japanese. Pools - one on main level and one on 7th floor roof top, both had ample room. As this is joined on to the family resort, we found the adult pool/hot tub over there was great, always quiet. Entertainment was regular standard and those performers work hard. Trafalgar pub was great to finish off the evening with a game of pool, cards, jenga or whatever. Avoid the bathroom in there though as it was worse smelling than any outhouse i have ever been in, plumbing issues??? Overall the resort needs some work, but it does look like they are working on it. This was our 12th trip to Mexico and 2nd time in Puerto Vallarta. I might stay in this resort again if the price was right. I would say this hotel would rate at about a 3 star.

Beautiful location with serious maintenance and service issues
We stayed at Crown Paradise Golden in Puerto Vallarta and had a mix of breathtaking moments and frustrating disappointments. While the beachfront setting and certain amenities delivered a wonderful tropical experience, other issues — particularly with room maintenance, dining logistics, and service reliability — made this a difficult place to fully recommend. It’s a resort I would rate as barely holding onto a 3-star status. HIGHLIGHTS The resort sits directly on the beach, with plenty of loungers and scenic views. Waking up to the sound of the waves and the sight of palm trees and ocean was a major highlight. The sunsets were stunning. Whether from the beach or the room’s balcony, each evening offered a vibrant, unforgettable view across the bay. Well-organized and peaceful. There were plenty of loungers, some shaded spots, and an easygoing atmosphere that was great for unwinding. Although the main courses were disappointing, many of the appetizers and desserts were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Most of the staff, including cleaning teams, maintenance personnel, and restaurant staff, were courteous, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. You could tell they took pride in their work. ISSUES AND AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT Room Cleanliness and Maintenance! The room was a major disappointment. We found mold in the bathroom, filthy AC filters, and a generally worn-out appearance. The tile shower had cracks and discoloration, and the room ventilation was poor. Towels did not dry properly and the air felt heavy and damp. Aged and Outdated Feel The entire property feels overdue for renovation. Fixtures, furniture, and finishes have seen better days. The hotel simply does not match modern expectations for comfort or style. Air Conditioning Failure on Our Last Night The AC went out in our room and several others on our final night. When we called the front desk, the response was dismissive and uninterested, possibly because they were receiving a large volume of complaints. Although we were told the issue had been resolved, our AC never started working again. The room remained hot and humid, making sleep extremely uncomfortable. No Response from Room Service or Front Desk The next morning we tried to order breakfast from room service starting at 9:00 a.m. and called repeatedly for 30 minutes. No one answered at room service, the concierge, or even the front desk. This lack of response was frustrating and unprofessional, especially for a resort that markets itself as full-service. Difficult Restaurant Reservations Reservations for the in-house restaurants open around 9:00 a.m. and fill up within minutes. If you're not online the moment they go live, you miss your chance. The system was unnecessarily stressful and rigid. Poor Quality Main Courses The steak labeled as "ribeye" was not a ribeye. It was thin, full of untrimmed fat, and very tough. The chicken breast was dry and overcooked. Both entrées were disappointing and did not reflect the resort’s claims of fine dining. Bird Problems at the Buffet The buffet is open-air and suffers from a recurring issue with birds flying in and stealing food off the serving line. This is not only annoying but unsanitary. A proper deterrent system should be put in place. The buffet food was average, and variety was lacking by the third day. FINAL THOUGHTS Crown Paradise Golden has a few standout strengths, especially its location and some of its staff. The sunsets and ocean views are phenomenal. However, the resort is being held back by outdated infrastructure, inconsistent service, and avoidable customer service failures. In its current state, this resort just barely qualifies as a 3-star experience. It has the potential to be much better, but without renovations, updated systems, and better service reliability, it's hard to fully recommend. Would we return? Possibly, but only if the rooms were updated, the AC problems addressed, and the dining system improved. The potential is there, but the execution is falling short.
