Spent five nights at Dreams Cape. Room: The rooms at Dreams are nicer than Secrets and they're in the middle of demolishing and rebuilding Sunscape (which I was told will be Dreams when they're done). We had a 'tropical' view which was basically looking at the round about at the entrance of Dreams. I didn't mind, though, b/c I love to people watch and I could sit on the porch of my room and enjoy the weather. The room was clean and fresh and maintained the entire trip by Mirna, who was a warm and inviting woman. A treat was left each day for us as well as the fridge restocked as needed. If you wanted something specific, they provided that. Even with being at the entrance, our room was well insulated from the noise. Could we hear things, yes. Did any noise keep us up or disturb us, no. And it was always quiet by 10 or 11. Beach/Pools: Beautiful beach and clean pools. We had access to Secrets' pools as well and they are larger and don't have kids. So we trekked over there for the pool experience. People grabbed the beach chairs under the umbrellas early but I was there for the sun so it didn't bother me. Food: The buffet was mediocre. There was not much flavor and no spice, which was disappointing. Olio was nice but the Italian restaurant/Pizzeria was phenomenal. I love the portion sizes for all of the restaurants, too. The drinks were phenomenal no matter where I ordered them. Luckily, we had a premier level reservation which allowed us to use the restaurants at Secrets as well. We went to Oceana (seafood as well as burgers and chicken) and the French Restaurant (name escapes me right now). Their food was delicious! Staff: The staff were amazing. Everyone was pleasant, happy, and welcoming. We did our best to speak as much Spanish as we could (which isn't much) but most spoke English (I'm from the US). I left tips even though it's all-inclusive. We were given incredible assistance when I left my cell phone in our transportation from the airport. I had my phone w/in a few hours. Spa: We had manicures on our last day at the spa. The spa is beautiful and relaxing. We had the aromatherapy hand massage with manicure and Paula and Guadalupe were amazing! I wanted to nap with the hand and arm massages. Plus, my hands were so soft afterwards! Your experience is what you make it. We were looking for relaxation and a break from our lives and that is what we found/created.

If you love to snorkel, this is the resort to try! Without ever leaving the resort, you can snorkel a wide expanse of shallow water to your heart's content! We saw barracuda, lobsters, sunfish, stingrays, and many colorful tropical fish. Most of the restaurants have a beautiful ocean view from which you can enjoy a unique sunset every night! The atmosphere is casual and laid back. Evenings there is usually musical performers or a lively show. Service is great! Aaron, Luz and the rest of the entertainment staff work hard day and night keeping both the little ones and the adults busy if they want to be. Didn't want to leave!

Jan 11, 2026Beautiful Location and Rooms Let Down by Below Average Food
The location was excellent, with a beautiful beachfront and easy access to the water. The rooms were fantastic, spacious, comfortable, and very well maintained, fully aligned with what is expected from a Hyatt product. Unfortunately, the food was below average and very disappointing for a Hyatt luxury resort. Cozumel is a phenomenal destination for scuba diving. We are regular guests at Club Med resorts and expected the dining experience to be at least at the same level. Instead, the food quality was clearly below average and did not meet even a basic luxury resort standard. Because of the resort’s isolated location, with no good dining alternatives nearby, the poor food quality had an even bigger impact on the overall experience. While the beach, location, and accommodations were excellent, the stay did not meet expectations due to the food offering. With a significant improvement in food quality, this resort could deliver the experience expected from a Hyatt luxury property.

Jan 09, 2026Hyatt Globalist had a very poor experience especially regarding food, which is critical for an all-inclusive resort
Very bad experience from a loyal Hyatt Globalist member perspective. - I booked directly via Hyatt website with cash, overall about $3000 for 3 nights (party of 5). I trusted Hyatt standard and didn't do as much homework. - Food is appalling. Birds eating at open air buffet stations. Very slow service at restaurants. Food quality amazing bad (we were finally set free after arriving at the airport for fast food). - Room service calls were never answered. - Overwhelming focus on getting guests into a sales presentation. Hyatt/Unlimited need to realize that the top priority is to make the resorts desirable. It's a complete waste of everyone's time to give a presentation to unhappy guests. - Two good comments: 1. very good water and sunset (attractive online pictures masking huge problems; so much wasted potential); 2. a paramedical call was quickly answered

Awful!
Absolutely terrible experience! Room smells bad. Resort smells of sewage. Buffet disgusting and dirty. Got food poisoning here! Staff did not care but tried to force us to see their physician. No thanks! No availability of beach chairs and not a single clean beach towel to be found. Pictures look so much nicer. Do not go !!! We left two nights early to get the heck out of there.
